  1. Wiggy was the entertainment to Kelvs methodical approach. Chalk and cheese really. Kelv appears to have been the better rider but Wiggy is the one I'm going to watch on YouTube/video.
  2. Im not complaining! Consider the Premiership pairs as Coventrys, but as we don't have a track it's at Somerset rather than Leicester.
  3. "No delay". That's odd, they had a farewell to the Abbey meeting 18 months ago so it's at least a year delayed!!
  4. 350k a year rent. 1000 fans a meeting to cover the rent. No decent businessman would accept that. Then there was the running a huge meeting that they had managed to sell or without a test meeting before hand. You know, test the work on the stadium that they didn't have access to during the build stage. That's madness.
  5. How hard can it be? Motox have been using them for years, decades even.
  6. TBF there was lots of cynicism from many people about the whole project. So much so that some loved calling out the cynics and "jealous" people. It was said all along that with the walking disaster than Morton and Gordon had been the previous 10 year the NSS project was in the wrong hands. And so it turned out us cynics were totally right. The whole thing has been a disaster from the start.
  7. Shame. Really enjoyed last years and was looking forward to 2017s
  8. At GP and SWC level there really is no excuse for not using transponders.
  9. 350k a year rent. That was never viable. Thats about £17,000 a meeting or roughly 1000 full paying adults. It doesn't matter who runs BV speedway, 350k a year rent is madness.
  10. And Lawsons have a Championship place. But Masters has, AFAIK, always been ahead of Lawson in the EL/Premiership.
  11. My jobs is writing software for gameshows. As a business we build the graphics, fire lighting and sounds. Clients (the production company) are constantly asking for updates. We have to show various things to the client at regular intervals. The client is always asking us and in return their client (the TV channel) is always asking them. They don't wait until the day we get into studio to make sure everything is working. That's going to lead to disaster. We get into studio and everyone sets up, us, lighting, sound and everyone else involved. You then reverse for 2 or 3 days with standins. Then after 3 or 4 days you reherse with the host. Only then do you actually start recording shows. It seems to me BV were not checking up on what was happening. They did the equivalent of the rehearsal with standins by letting a couple of riders practice but then they failed to do the real rehearsal. They should have run a behind closed doors meeting the week before. You can make all the excuses you like but they're just that, excuses. It shouldn't have happened.
  12. Something I have always thought I'd do if I ever found myself owning a speedway club is meeting 1 of the season would be free entry with people able to drop donations into a bucket as they come in and left. Speedway fans are a weird bunch that I think most would pay the going rate but if it got a load of newbies along and you broke even (or even made a profit) form it then you could do it the next week and the week after. Massive risk initially but you might find a nice price point, some people would be happy paying £15 but other would only pay £1 or even nothing but think of the extra programmes you'd sell and the extra merchandise. Then when you have got half way through the season with big crowds and a great atmosphere more people will want to come and more people = more to sell to spornsors. I'd probably go bust by week 3 as people wouldn't pay but would be an interesting experiment. But some clubs out there with crowds of 300-400 would only 3-4k if NOBODY paid. If you can't afford to absorb a 4k loss why are you running a business?
  13. I suggest you look up the definition of "journeyman". I'm not sure former World number 2 is it while Cooks, good but never really that great is journeyman level Face fits? KK qualified. How close has Cook got the qualifying? Bombed out at the first hurdle a few time. KK was World number 2 so may well have peaked but Cook will be lucky to make it to World 32 even with improvement.
  14. I'd pick Auty over Howarth, the stats say Howarth but he's so annoying to watch. Having seen both ride for Coventry I know who I prefer. Neither will ever amount to much more than they are now though, 8ish PL men. Auty is the one far more likely to pull a ride out the bag if you need it I think but equally as likely to come last in a race he should win.
  15. The only issue I see with doing it this way is that I full expect the Bees team to be Bjerre, King, Garrity, Bjerre, Kerr, Bates and Sarj by the end of the season. So while that will drop Bjerre and Bates from their easy #1 positions to about 3 and 4 it'll see Sarj go from 8th to 1st and then King and Garrity move up a few places. Obviously other teams will be the same. Then you have the bias of who meet who not being the same. Your number 1 for example meets the opposition number 1 3 times so if yours is better that's a possibly 6 point swing. Same with your number 7s but other riders only meet once or twice. From a statistical POV this doesn't work at all. But it's certainly interesting. Also utterly amazed you have Sarj rated so low and Clegg so high. What the hell has Clegg ever achieved? PL reserve while Sarj has spent about a dozen meeting in his whole career as a second string. Sarj has also ridden as a second string in last years EL unlike Clegg. Few other weeks choices but I accept that's part of the fun/interest with these things. Lasse Bjerre seems to have been massively under rated by you based in last season form coming back from injury at a club he was not happy at.
  16. Im wondering whatever happened to the, "buy a house fund" that was meant to happen to buy a house that foreign base riders could live in.
  17. We barely saw a crap meeting on TV last season. It was a brilliant year for televised speedway.
  18. Any rider who returns to a club should get a 5% average reduction, and a further 5% for ever one of their first 10 seasons.
  19. You're right. Every time I ride a speedway bike I actually forget to breathe for a while Same in a go-kart!
  20. I get paid in all sorts of ways. Some of it is simple payment (generally lower but safer) there is occasionally performance bonuses that can be linked to viewers but these are rare. The reason it makes/costs me money is that if people watch properly and a show gets a second series or season then I don't have to spend 100s of hours working to make new control systems I just charge for them with maybe a few tweaks. If a show gets cancelled then my system/work is basically retired. So more viewers means it's decommissioned and I get "money for nothing". Long running series keep my othe work ticking over. If something doesn't get past pilot stage I make a pittance. If it gets one series I'll make ok money. A second series and we're starting to talk good money. 15-1, Pointless, Only Connect and A League of Thier Own (and Countdown as of next series as we know that's not going anywhere!) are great shows. Every series now just means more profit. Also have some control software out there for (mostly regional) sports stuff but that keeps us ticking too. Sports stuff (and things like the Urdd Eisteddfod for s4c) is utterly boring to do but pays the bills. Rule with work is it has to be fun and/or make money. Longevity = money to me. So people watching anything illegally means series/shows get dropped and I no longer get paid for it. Point is, the idea that stealing from Sky, BBC, ITV etc so it's "victimless" because they're big organisations, is crap. There are 10s of people working on any TV show and lower viewing figures mean these people will lose out of a show is dropped. The only people who gain from old shows being dropped and replaced by new are set designers! It's just wrong to say it's victimless and ok to do. If you're going to do it, don't tell me I don't lose out. I accept it happens, it's always happened even before I got into the industry so I'm not shocked, amazed or appalled I just don't like being told it's ok. If you're going to steal from someone don't try and justify it to them!
  21. 22.565% is you assume they concerted everyone's average by 1.4 but then had a 50 point limit rather than 42. BUT 42 is not perfect and can actually go up and down a bit based on many things. About 20% weaker seems fair. and there you go. Someone agrees!
  22. Lebdevs is a smashing signing. Riss isn't bad either. Wolbert a bit suspect. I don't think it's as bad as some seem to think tbf. Certainly fairly entertaining.
  23. Ageee with Adam Roynon. How many of his injuries have been his own fault? Only one I can think of is when he did his back riding for Coventry at Swindon on the 3rd bend. He's mostly been unlucky getting involved in others crashes or mistakes.
