Based on 1 meeting against a piss poor Somerset teams who lost at Lynn with 2 of their top 3 managing a whole point between them. I'd calm down the excitement just now after a single meeting.

Yet Worrall average 6.22 last season and Ellis averaged 6.05 so there not a lot between them. For comparison Garrity got 6, Kurtz 6.15, Howarth 5.43 (with more meetings in res), Sedgmen 5.33 and Auty 5.16. So Ellis' 7.64 is about right when you consider that Worrall is 8.47, Garrity is 8.8, Kurtz is 7.6, Howarth is 7.18, Sedgmen is 7.6 (and doing ok from two away meetings) and Auty is 7.1 What sort of average do people think Ellis should have been given and why? Worrall has just started this season in brilliant form, which is brilliant.
-
Why? He got nearly 6 riding all last season as a second string. So why is 7 in a weaker league so hard to imagine? Steve Worall is managing it. Charles Wright managed 9 at Lynn this week, as did Rose. Plus Starke got 7. He's at leats as good as that lot.

Riss has only dropped points in the two races he has crashed in, not bad from 2 meetings. And Riss had that meeting on Sky for Edinburgh at Somerset a few season ago where he was flying. That said, Bjerre is a good guest. It's a shame Riss isn't riding, I'd have probably popped over if he had been, still might if I can be bother when I finish work.

Because of his near 6 point average, which he achieved in an EL 1-5 last season. It's comparable to the Worrall brothers and Garrity tbf. He should be capable of 7ish as a second string in the Premiership.

The sport refused to evolve and when it did the old folk cried, "but its always been done like that, we don't like change" so they reverted back to the old way. Then they wondered why the sport had started dying whne it had done nothing in terms of presentation to drag it along to modern times.

So a tiny bit below 42 then. Christ the BSPA are an inept bunch. The break even figure is always likely to be just below 42.

The issue I see for Berwick is pretty much everyone in their team has been a bit pants so far. So who do you keep and who do you drop? There don't seem to be any obvious contenders, or any obvious replacements! I'd be prone to suck it up for a few weeks and see whats happening after a few more meetings. Titles are not won in April or May but September these days.

It comes back to my quoted post in the original post. It's no good getting loads of people in and then giving them a load of crap. When you get lots of people in you have to give them something they want more of. Over the years I'll be honest, Ive taken very few people to speedway because I know it's a bit crap, to some extent we like that crap and it is part of the charm. The one friend I took kind of liked it but found it all a bit slow. Admittedly this was back in about 2001/2002, Alan Mogridge was riding for Stoke. Other than facebook we've drifted apart over the years but he'll still mention the SGP on facebook and has been to more Cardiffs that he hasn't been to (he seems to go every year) so the basics of the sport, 4 riders doing 4 laps is clearly working but what doesn't is the crap surrounding it. Now if on your big day you mess up the 4 riders doing 4 laps thing then thats it, give up. You have done more harm than good because all those extra people you dragged in? They're not coming back next year even if you do the same and have fixed the problems.

Of course it not the fans and it's totally down to bad organisation. If you can get 1000ish people into a stadium in 30 minutes then you're doing something very wrong. It's not hard!

One of them would have to be at reserve for that to have happened. Or in an obscure format, so the recent EL format allowed it and the late 90s/early 00s Craven Sheild format allowed it. I can't imagine theres been too many maximums on opposing teams. The only know I know of (and cant date it exactly) was a Craven Sheild meeting at Wolves, Bv were involved as Jason Lyons for a maximum but so did one of the Woles riders. so about 2000ish. But not brothers.

Good to see Havvy using all his Speedway knowledge to sign the Bandits a great team (though tbf, I had them down as being an okay team) -

Truly shocked by Ellis and Bellegos scores. Honestly expected them to be the other way around. Other than that, is anyone really surprised? -
Tonight the Kurtz Brothers have score a 12 and 14+1 (paid) maximum. How many other times have brothers scored maximums in the same meeting? Can't be many examples.

It must have done. My dad often tells of how he used to leave his house at 7.25 for a 7.30 start at Newport. He lived a 15 minute walk away! I wonder if promoters genuinely are oblivious to how annoying a late start and dragged out meeting are. Something that it costs nothing to fix.
-
If the meeting starts at 7.30 then get people in by 7.30. If you don't have the resources to get people in quickly enough then get the resources. Most of the time the crowds are nothing's special, it's just poor organisation. Peterborough for example was just 3 ladies taking their time to take cash and put it in a till. Christ they were in no rush. If you're charging £16 for example to get in have piles of £4 to give as change. If you have to, stick a table at the end with an exact change only sign. Hand over the exact change, get handed a ticket, money gets thrown in a bucket. Cuts the time down massively.

King's Lynn Vs Somerset 5th April Premiership
SCB replied to SomersetBlue's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Hearing that Somerset showed plenty of fight tonight 😮 -
I'd argue get rid of Tungate, Grajczonek and Graversen bring in the likes of Garrity, Schlein, Covatti, Bjerre, Busk Jakobsen, Milik, Musielak. 12 between them and Somerset would have won tonight.
-
Which is what prompted this thread.. More meetings have had delayed starts than have not in 2017. Amazing isn't it? People want to see speedway but promoters clearly think their product is so crap people won't want to watch it so don't have the resources to get people in a lot quicker.

STOP IT. It's killing the sport. The start time announced should be the time the meeting starts. Stop pissing off the fans who get their on time.
