  1. I'd argue that if Bewley does get injured and that Perry and Smith both stay below Bewleys 3.90 start figure then Glasgow are stuffed. Obviously if one of them goes above 3.9 then Bewley drops to reserve and has to be replaced by 3.9 guests. Quite how anyone can think a team that uses 13 points on 4 riders allows balance I don't know! Argue that top heavy is the way to go by all means but 13 points on your bottom 4 and 27 on your top 3 is not balanced. Most teams use just over half their points on a top 3 and just under half on their bottom 4. That equates to about 22/18 and not 27/13!
  2. The council won't give a crap about the irrelevant amounts of money the good stuff will make. They'll just charge a little more rent and let the speedway club sort it. If it was going to make 100s of 1000s it'd be worth employing someone to do it but for a few 1000 it's not worth employing someone to do it.
  3. Cant see the council wanting the hassle of running the food outlets at a speedway stadium. They'll lease the stadium to the new promotion and let them sort it. The council will be happy to just get their costs back, not run it as a commercial enterprise.
  4. I want to know what makes someone not fit a proper? Has anyone ever been turned down? And we're had some right mis-fits and freaks as promoters! As it is, if the BSPA don't know Laurence Rogers by now and his ability to run a speedway club they never will!
  5. So my site (speedway-stats.co.uk) has Lawlors average from his 16 meetings for BV at 2.29 but that includes a meeting at Buxton as number 8. If you count all his meetings for every team then it's 3.27 but again, that inclues 8 meetings as a teams number 8. Surely the figure that counts is his 2.29 from 16 meetings for BV? You coulld make it 2.36 if you take away his meetings for BV at #8. Honestly not seeing the issue with Lawlor being a 3. As for Sam Bebee I make it 4 meetings for Mildenhall as a declared rider averaging 4.25 but it's always difficult with the NL to know if riders are in declared teams or not as they change on a whim and the rules seem to be made up as and when someone sees fit. If you're including guest bookings then Sams average is 3.18. The fact I make Sam 4.25 from delcared meetings (and guest meetings not included) the same as the BSPA makes Lawlors 2.29 from his declared meetings the relevant figure. Averages in declared teams here, http://speedway-stats.co.uk/Averages/2016/3 Lawlors meetings and average here http://www.speedway-stats.co.uk/Rider/665 Bebees meetings and average here http://speedway-stats.co.uk/Rider/670 In short, 3 and 4.25 look right to me. Well Done on picking just 5 of his 38 meetings Why not pick the 5 meetings where he totaled 3 from 18 = 0.66
  6. Wouldn't it be his 2007 CL average for Rye House using the Rich Hall rule?
  7. I have never said such a thing. Anyone can post lies about someone
  8. You're right. That was a really crap explanation My point, that I failed to make was that signing Doyle on 13.5 is the madness. You can sign a rider on 8 or 9 who against a team like Peterborough would score the same 15 points that Doyle will. Swindon have wasted 2-3 point on Doyle but against the wrong(right?) team it's a waste of nearer 5 points. I just can't get my head around any club signing a rider on 11+ it puts you on the back foot. As fort your views on Peterbourgh riders, I agree you could be right but I also happen to think on their day they're all smashing riders around the EOES and can (and do) beat the best riders in the league around there. Maybe I should get that job as independent person that people always keep on about?! If I was Nick Morris would be on his 2015 PL average too
  9. Nobody wanted Bjerre? Try again! Bjerre didn't want the EL as the format as it was meant riding against heat leaders every race but still being paid the same as before. He could ride in heats of the same standard in Poland and Sweden for more money. Nothing wrong with Sarj either when you compare him to other 5-6 point men tbh - Jake Allen is the only rider I'd swap him for but I'm not disappointed to have Sarj - hopefully not having Havvy banging on about vendettas from referees will help his starting
  10. Really? I genuinely think a couple of clubs could give Swindon a run for their money. Peterborough for example could rack up loads at home vs Swindon - yes Doyle would score an easy maximum but after that? Only needs Morris to be having a pretty naff day and score 5 which is not impossible and then Peterboroughs top 4 could potentially beat all but Doyle. Peterboroughs reserve will be the equal of Swindons 5th rider (he's the same rider!). They only have to cling on at Swindon then. Imagine you took Doyle out and put a random 8 point man in then you have just taken Swindon team down to 44.5, thats only 5 point difference between the two teams and still that Swindon number 1 is better than anything Peterborough have! In effect, Peterborough have to find 4 points or Swindon lose 4 (or some combo of both) and suddenly it's game on between the two clubs!
  11. 7. Danes would be 7 in the PL, so they'll be 7 in the Premiership.
  12. The rest if the post doesn't shock me. But this bit, if these young lads are so talented they'll get 7 in the PL won't they? And they'd be on a par with the other 7 pointers no in the Premiership. 5 IS too low. 7 IS fair. Means you don't get the dross but you're not making it unfairly high. Too low and you just start letting in more and more Jan Graversen, Marek Mroz and the likes.
  13. 4. The lowest is 4. It WAS going to be 5 but the BSPA being a bunch of bottlers changed it to 4. So Grondal will be 4.39.
  14. Hasn't been a PL reserve for about 3 seasons now and spent time in an EL 1-5 next season
  15. His away averages in the EL and the PL are better than his home figures so I'm quite shocked someone with a smaller track didn't offer him a place.
  16. Spent most of last season in reserve, starts in reserve for Peterborough but is a second string at Swindon. Yikkes!
  17. Ok. Rumour was correct, me being stupid was the issue. For some reason I thought Peterborough rode on a Thursday! God knows why. I heard he was likely to be signing for Swindon and put 2+2 together. D'oh! Sorry!
  18. Surely the shock is people still haven't released this yet?!
  19. Which they should be using PL 2016 rules. Why is this some sort of shock?
  20. If we're going with end of season form only, then Garrity pisses all over Tungate as he (Jason) was flying. While Josh is slightly better in the PL he was worse in the EL. I'd actually say to some extent Jason and Rohans EL seasons copied each other in that they got off to a stuttering start but come good. I doubt there will be much between them in 2017. I think I'd trust Garrity to win me a "must win" race but I think Josh is the more consistent plodder while Tungate, King and Bjerre to different extents are likely to throw in a stupid last at any time. I think with regards to middle order, Somerset have played it safe while Coventry have taken two risks. Somerset have gone for two riders who are slightly improving or solidly found a level while Coventry have gone with two riders who struggled in 2016 so if they get it back, then "wehay" but if they have lost it after injury then "boohoo". Did have to laugh at the idea that Graversen is better than Sarjeant I'm willing to accept Sarj had a crap season in '16 and it wasn't helped by being forced into the 1-5 and losing all confidence he'd just built back up but Graversen has had 5 or 6 crap seasons, the reality thats his level and his last his PL season in them 5 or 6 attempts has been half a point (at least) lower than Sarjs worst in 2 attempts. In fact has Graversen spent much more than a dozen meetings in the 1-5? While on the other hand Sarj has probably only spend his first dozen meetings in reserve and I think about 3 or 4 more at the end of his first season. Willing to accept that Jake Allen is a smashing signing TBF, will he have second season blues, will he have a year of consolidation or will he crack on with it? Could IMO be a great signing, he was in 2016.
  21. Got that one wrong! Odd that after the agro around buying him that Somerset haven't used him this season though.
  22. Glasgow look like relying heavily on one rider. But it might be enough. As for the other 6, you might see a little improvement in them as the points limit has dropped a little but it won't be much. The top 3 have all found heir level, as has Perry. Personally never been that impressed by Lunna. But Bewley is a smashing signing. It's Sheffield and Ipswich for me. Sheffield have gone safer but Ipswich could pull it off if a couple of the riskier signings pay off. I don't think Workington look bad, Berwick look solid and Redcar are ok. Peterborough will be good at home. Scunthorpe look naff. TBH I'm not sure there's a lot in it, most teams look pretty good. Possibly the closest the league has been for a long time.
  23. Nobody has suggested throwing races. People have just rightly pointed out that anyone unhappy at work will not perform to their best. It might be due to bad pay, bad management or just because you're a cyclical, hateful person. Sheffield have signed two riders who were unhappy last season, if they can make them happy they'll score more.
