  1. Just looked at updates from Swindon v Leicester match tonight and it's saying Eddie Kennett to guest for Swindon on Saturday, he might not have scored many for Rye away but he certainly knows his way around Rye House track and he will probably be aiming for a maximum after being dumped. Could be a very interesting evening if it's not rained off.
  2. West Ham ? And I've wracked my brain and I can't remember many, if any, rained off meetings (or is it me just suffering from old age )
  3. My mistake re Swindon match being a rain off. Oh well perhaps we will have a double header with them this week for the missing meeting, as Kasperzak is missing are we allowed a guest or is it rr as he hasn't ridden for us yet. Jason Doyle withdrew from the Kings Lynn meeting after crashing last night if he's not fit perhaps Swindon will ask EK to guest - what a shambles.
  4. And as well as no fixtures for weeks what happens to the first meeting in ages - it gets rained off, typical. I hope the management take this into account when starting to plan for next year (hopefully) and as suggested by Shads get as many fixtures as possible in between April and August, and also in my opinion stick to Saturday nights as a lot of our supporters seem to travel from various distances and for many of them weeknights are almost impossible due to work commitments. The rained off meeting with Swindon from earlier in the year should have been re-arranged months ago, perhaps in future any rain offs should take place within one month of original date, except in extenuating circumstances perhaps. I for one shall have to get my piggy bank out later and have a count up because as already mentioned we are now going to need long pockets to pay for all these meetings bunched together. If the Promoters dont want to run on a Saturday when it clashes with a GP meeting then move that fixture to mid week it would be better than no fixture at all and ending up with the situation we are now in. The idea of a double header on Bank Holiday Monday with Poole although a good suggestion is also a televised meeting, will BT want to film 2 meetings, I doubt it, if not it will possibly mean them hanging around till after the end of the second meeting before they can start packing their gear etc. away so I doubt they will be happy.
  5. Going by the amount of rain we've had and are still having in East London since late morning I'm not surprised it's called off let's hope for better weather Saturday.
  6. Thanks for that, but looking at the cloud direction it's heading your way, I hope not, but I'll have to make a decision about travelling later and take a chance with the traffic round the M25 in the rush hour
  7. Any weather updates from someone near the track please. I am about 50 minutes drive away in East London and its hammering it down here and has been for the last hour with no signs of stopping. I was looking forward to going to the meeting tonight but at the moment am not holding out much hope of it not being called off
  8. Thanks for reply. I'm not very up on the in's and outs of the visas but after reading the following 2 comments in an earlier post "Surely Holder would have permanent residence by now? Or worst case get a visa for Poland/Sweden and base himself there, and travel back to the uk on a regular basis to see his son?" and "I would imagine he would have a helluva lot more red tape to get thru in both countries compared to the easy ride so to speak he has here to get his visa here" Which got me thinking as to whether their British Visa covered them for various countries.
  9. If they both lose their British Visas for the rest of this season as they are no longer employed here does that mean they won't be able to finish their seasons in Poland/Sweden as well?
  10. Its about time Promoters/Managers got down to doing their jobs and riders got down to riding. There has to be some sort of organisation, obviously with a bit of discussion, but if everyone went to work in any type of job and said "I dont fancy it today" and the boss says "OK" chaos will ensue. Like it or not someone has to be in charge. My personal opinion is that only the Referee should be able to call off the meeting, If its been raining for days and the track is waterlogged/unridable due to weather conditions the Promotion should call the BSPA and ask for an official to inspect the track, or at the very least send photos via email for an official to look at, or if it has been raining during the day of the meeting when the Referee arrives he should make the decision. I appreciate riders and many fans have to travel long distances to meetings but if the weather is that bad us fans do have some common sense (sometimes more than the powers that be) and can make our own decisions. The riders unfortunately will have to accept late call offs as part and parcel of the job that they do. Clear lines must be drawn between employer and employee for everyones sake.
  11. If it turns out to be correct any thoughts on who he will be replacing
  12. As Holder is listed as riding tomorrow either it's a misprint or something very dodgy going on. It will be interesting to hear fans views if it turns out to be the later.
  13. I chose not to go to Swindon last night and went to Ipswich instead to have a look at Sedgmen. He scored 5+2, beating no. 6 & 7s I think, but he was way off the pace. My thoughts of him riding for Rye "Oh dear oh dear". As for Rye finishing 4th in the league, after last night's result and our new look team - no chance without divine intervention. My next 2 transfers would be Sedgmen and the Manager.
  14. When he won the meeting for Kings Lynn at Poole he could have been saying to Matt Ford "Look what you've lost I'm the best rider round this track and you got rid of me"
  15. Batchelor appeared to be injured again in heat 15 when guesting for Swindon last Monday so perhaps this time he really has a genuine excuse not to ride.
  16. And yet again Troy Batchelors points tonight for Swindon show just how stupid the rules now are. If a guest rider is needed they should not be riding in a club in the same league. I know this will mean having a rider who is from a lower league and not doubling up but at least there won't be a conflict of interest as has happened tonight at Leicester.
  17. I just hope Rye can do what Poole did last week, keep themselves to themselves, keep out of any controversy, ride the track be it good or bad and pick up a few away points. I was intending to go but after what went on last week I will now follow it on the updates and probably go to Swindon on Thursday. Seems by not addressing this issue properly KL may have shot themselves in the foot as far as fans are concerned by sweeping it under the carpet and hoping it will blow over.
  18. It's fair enough for riders to be asked their opinion of the track if there are problems/weather issues etc but in my opinion it should be down to the Referee to call off a meeting if there are problems. There are 14 riders at each meeting and they could all find different issues relating the track that is not to their individual like/style of riding, you can't please all of the riders all of the time if you try to do that there would be no speedway meetings anywhere. Yes it is a dangerous sport but the riders themselves signed up to it no one forced them so they should accept that it is up to the Officials to run the meeting and it is the riders job to ride. After travelling and paying to see a Speedway meeting that is what most fans want to see.
  19. If a rider does receive a 28 day ban does that stop him riding abroad and in GPs or does it only apply to British League?
  20. Let's hope Ellis doesn't do what Chris Holder did for KL at Poole last week and try to prove a point to MF by getting 13 points. Worse still let's hope I don't forget he's riding for Wolves and start cheering him on instead of Rye😀
  21. Quite agree - Ellis Perks back please Rye Promoters - he was well liked by us fans and he tried hard and improved his average then what do you do - let him go - bonkers.
  22. If when all last nights farce has been looked into (or not) if it turns out Chris Holder was involved in it then I expect KL fans will be glad to send him back to you as his average has certainly dropped while riding for them and it seems obvious he would rather be at Poole, it was Matt Ford that sacked him in the first place and thats why he ended up at KL certainly not through his own choice.
