  1. I hope so. The crowds on Sunday afternoons early in the season were sometimes very poor. I think 700-800 for a couple of the meetings. It wasn't the panacea some folk seem to think.
  2. Brilliant solution having Sunday as alternative. Therefore there should be 4 meetings on a Sunday at least
  3. No one know what the rental or purchase agreements will be, so don't bother trying to visualize it as you say. No point being negative about this, hopefully people with a positive attitude and good business experience get involved.
  4. The money is a drop in the ocean to Manchester City Council. Off course they will be attempting to recoup it, but it looks to me like the previous promotion are going to be declared insolvent so there will be the avenues that entails. As I've said they did great getting the stadium but the promotion aspect was dreadful. If they can get rugby or American football, field sports or whatever in addition it would be ideal. But given they have one of the best speedway stadiums in the world, and it has been packed a good few times this year, Throwing good money at turning it into something else completely sounds crazy. Maybe we should calm down and realise what we are talking abut is a failed promotion, not a failed sport, not the definitive example of why speedway is f****. It happens all the time in football for example. Sometimes the club disappears for good, but often (Rangers, Airdrie, Motherwell, Hearts) they are reborn. For me, it was proved this year that the stadium CAN work. They just need the right deal, and the right promoters.
  5. regardless not slagging anyone, but you only have to look at it to know it can be made a success. The other thing I noticed last year was practically ZILCH trackside advertising, I tried adding up the Tigers this year and reckon it's a good few thousand.
  6. I really don't understand what they've put on the speedway gb website, only had 2.5 to play with.... they seem to be talking about a minimum average of 2 but I don't quite understand it.
  7. Lawson Worral lunna bewley Bach Bates NL rider on 2.5
  8. Put the bottle down and get out from behind that wagon wheel.
  9. Delighted they're running, and hopefully the promotion will not be remembered for the fiasco, but for getting the magnificent track and stadium in place
  10. I'm sure there will be some sort of compromise. While Ford and Middlo get right up my nose, we need a succesful team like Poole as an example of how to run a speedway club, and a bunch of teams that can compete. By that your going to have to have 8 teams who think they've got a chance, which means lower average or limited to one heatleader or whatever. The SS said they were releasing some AGM details this PM.
  11. Harris bombed round Glasgow in the pre season. Having said that is he not rumoured to be on Zagar level money??
  12. Agree with those three. Wouldn't get a #1 on Richards average, Aaron is 100% Glasgow and Nike has been terrific.
  13. I presume bend 2 is most visible to the majority? The Tote board wouldn't be visible on the back straight.
  14. I didn't want to say that, but it would be great to see him progress like Doyle. He's definately 100% focussed so why not. Terrible luck this year with the BV shenanigans coupled with being mucked around in Poland. It would be great to see him in Denmark or Sweden, for sure - given a chance I'm certain he would slot in no bother.
  15. Hope he stays at Belle Vue, premier could be an issue if the points limit is reduced. I don't believe he is as good as he'll ever be yet. Still fancy him to go up a level and I'f like to see him more adventurous on the lines at Bell Vue next season with his equipment sorted.
  16. Wish him every success and huge thanks for realising the dream.
  17. Rumours around that an NL no 7 in on a 2 average. Bewley at 6 seems a shoe in. Sissis is a steal at Ashfield on 3.79 - a lot here fancied him last year. That would give a low average tail with plenty of ability.
  18. The Facennas have been a godsend for Glasgow ploughing money and a huge amount of effort into the club. They will be doing this as part of their effort to make Glasgow speedway sustainable. Speedway, more than many sports has a large number of people resistant to any change, and the facebook posts are people who now can't make it or just don't fancy it. I'm sure they'll run with it and see how it goes, but there's a noisy segment of speedway goers who will moan about everything. Usually the same people who I've never seen give an ounce of thanks to the Facennas for their efforts.
  19. Edinburgh will complain if it's at all possible. Sorry for Berwick because we have a great relationship with them.
  20. First announcement for next season is the much rumoured move to A Saturday evening @7pm. I think the track will benefit from nightime racing, and hopefully the crowds are good. A lot of moaning on social media, but this brings us into line with the Clan and their success is something I believe the Facennas want to emulate. At the end of the day it doesn't affect me going, but we'll just need to see. Does however keep us free of clashes with BV.
