  1. I do t think This team was ever put out to win the league as silly as it sounds. It was put out to get fans in the stadium, and it has done that. The job this year was to get the club sustainable through this year and in to next year. reminder we started a lot later than most sides, nearly a whole year behind those that kept the riders from the season that never ran. personally I think we are close. 12 points on a heat leader was always going to be a tough ask and had he rode he’d have probs got a 9/10 average freeing up 2 points to put towards a stronger reserve from 3 points to 5 pushing Dillon or Zach there. The club as a whole has improved everything massively from the stadium to the track to the food selection in the cafe. from when mark took over to this moment in time it’s complete opposites. And he deserves every success and well done that go his way
  2. Jack Smith to replace Luke Ruddick after Ruddick has asked to stand down.
  3. Steve I’m impressed with how sour you are about the draw. suppose it was someone else’s fault that king went threw the tapes ?!
  4. Awww did little old Plymouth not let the big bad pirates win. for what it’s worth, both cooks excellent. Zane superb already scored more points in one meeting than goret did over all. Pedersen superb , crump will take 10 or so points in his 2nd meeting back. rumul tried hard and had a superb battle going out wide for beat Nielsen. ruddick is struggling and hopefully he can push on and start scoring. bowtell bit of a mixed bag this evening but he mixes it with all riders and give us a bit of strength in depth. I like Poole think they are good Stefan didn’t have his best meeting, strange choices by middlo but on another day they come off. take the draw and we crack on to the next meeting. I can’t help but think Plymouth might just make one more change to if there’s riders available to strengthen us.
  5. With that means cook, Dayon and Stefan can take the rides. how many are they allowed to take each ?! if Stefan is allowed to take all 3/4 rides then it makes Poole considerably stronger.
  6. Looking at the latest green sheet it seems to show that Alfie bowtell has moved to the rising star spot in place of Ruddick.
  7. Very good meeting. Superb crowd even against the football. Plymouth only lost by 8 which against a fantastic Poole side isn’t a lot. I think cook and rumul are starting to get to grips with the track and looking good. Won’t be long before they start scoring points. However goret is a real worry and must be on borrowed time. I know this season for Plymouth isn’t about winning but if the new averages come out and there’s points to play with Goret could be in trouble. on top of that goret could go down to reserve and bowtell in the top 5, this would make us even weaker as I’m not sure goret could actually beat reserves where as bowtell is starting to push heatleaders all the way. If replacing goret pushes Alfie back down to reserve it’s a no brainer. Plymouth are getting closer and closer.
  8. Can anyone tell me when riders get new averages or how the averages/green sheet work this year. intrigued with bowtell in good form and goret and rumul not so good form when/if a reserve change may come in. on top of that pedersen and crump to maybe get a lower average or if they maintain. However I know crumps only rode in the one meeting. any help appreciated
  9. Cook starting to come alive, he will be the big one of the three new ones. we could be one rider off a play off team….. im backing this team.
  10. For what it’s worth my input on last nights meeting…… 1) superb meeting both on and off the track 2) the New Plymouth lads are starting to show that they have the ability to battle with the top boys 3) bowtell unreal and for me cook really looked on the pace and that he will be the best of the three new lads. Rumul will follow and unfortunatly goret as it stands is a bit behind. 4) this rubbish about saying it’s a select 7 is rubbish. It is a team due to injury that was put together for Berwick to beat they couldn’t and Plymouth won. 5) if every meeting was a blow out and won 70-20 every meeting it would boring. The Plymouth team is made up of two stars in pedersen and crump who will draw the crowds. Atkins would have gained a lot of local support and the other 4 boys are you g and hungry and you can see how desperate they are to do well. Fans recognise when riders want to do well and appreciate it. They also see it as someone to watch and encourage and willing to do better. I think the biggest roar of encouragement from the crowd is when one of the new boys gates and gets in front and stays there and wins. Much more than pedersen. 6) Gary May is going to make a huge difference to this team without doubt. 7) I think people need to show Plymouth a bit more respect than is currently being given saying that a team should be embarrassed by losing to them. 8) it’s unfortunate about the ticket situation however it’s the times we live in at the moment. Part of me highly doubts that the number will be Mark’s phone number even if it is the chance of him being able to answer it between 2-6 on a race night is extremely unlikely with the amount of work going on before hand. Hopefully come 21st June we will be a bit more free. However not sure much blame can be given to the promotion for this. 9) the fans from who I heard loved the meeting, loved the food, the presentation of the evening, the stands and the cherry on top was the result. personally I think big things will happen in Plymouth over the next few years with surely one of the hardest working promoters in the sport. The change to the stadium and from national league to premier is huge.
  11. Personally I think Plymouth will struggle to begin with but once they strengthen when the averages of all rides drop (after is it 3 home and 3 away meetings ?! ) think they will pick up
  12. As a Plymouth fan I think we are in an almost win win situation..... we have 2 huge names at the top and several riders that are going to learn and work as hard as they can. now the win win part..... everyone hits the ground running.... perfect if people struggle then after 4 home and 4 away meetings a new set of averages are out and I can imagine Plymouth will more than likely have a few points spare to play with when this happens.
  13. You are correct, tried working out via the confirmed signings thread up the top and did t realise they already took Atkins average off.
  14. I could be very wrong but I work it out as 3.62. If Rumul and cook come in on 4 each.
  15. There’s 6 at-least that were born in California .... Broc Nicol Dillon Rumul Max Rumul Wilbur Hancock Gino manzereas Ryan Fisher no idea on averages and if they have a team place, that will probably help eliminate 2 or 3.
  16. My guess would be..... Alfie Bowtell And Zack Cook cook would be a 4 average anyone know what bowtells championship average ?!
  17. Can’t upload the picture but two silhouette on the gladiators social media off two more riders being announced tomorrow one at 8 and one at 12. ones an international rider and ones British, have a look and see who you think.
  18. Unfortunately you maybe disillusioned but speedway is NOT a big sport in the UK at the moment and if you think putting a race track in the middle of a field is going to get supporters in just because the track is big is far from the truth. you exspect the sport to survive on people that go just because they want to see a good race and that’s it is million miles from feesable. you now need to make it a package to come and watch speedway. You need there to be music, entertainment, things for kids to do, you need competitions, good toilet facilities, good drinking and eating facilities. Of course you need good racing too but that’s not going to bring fans in alone. Plymouth is growing as club because a magnitude of things..... 1) the mascot kids love it, if kids are happy so are parents. 2) the track is now being brought up to a good standard 3) the announcer does a great job of keeping everything up to date and the new people informed as well as the more experienced supporter. 4) they have made new stands and seating areas that are much more pleasurable to go on. 5) the food bar serves some brilliant food now especially the curry that is made from the Indian up the road ! 6) this year the team has big names people will want to come and see them 7) the team will have one or two fans favourites people will want to come and see them. 8) you can get close to the action to watch, Litterally on top of it at the back straight. The place isn’t the NSS but it’s never going to be after the amount of money spent on it. BUT my god they are trying to make it a family fun day/evening out and a respectable stadium and club and personally I think it’s working and Plymouth are very much a team on the up. unfortunately I think you have something against Plymouth speedway I don't know why nor do I care. For what it’s worth I enjoyed going to stoke the last time Plymouth went, the track was about 3 inch deep in sludge and yeah it wasn’t great sat on cracked steps with weeds coming up or the fact that you can’t walk around the track and get close to the action, but that’s what made stoke Stoke same when I’ve been wolves, Coventry etc they have something unique and special about them.
  19. This may not be the correct way to go but it’s just some thoughts I had whilst in lockdown on a Sunday evening. unfortunately the sports on its arse I believe because..... The rules change every year without fail imagine if the rules changed in football every year no one would accept it. the teams change every year because if they do well you have to change. You do well you are punished. How can fans especially new fans get a bond with riders that change every year. the next two for me are the biggest.... promotion and relegation and this for me is the second biggest reason speedway will never grow. How can promotion and relegation be based on what a few people at the top of the table think should be relegated and who shouldn’t. That links in to the biggest reason how can people who OWN TEAMS in the league ever make unbiased choices that doesn’t give an advantage to their team. I think it’s crazy that the league is ran by people who are not Independent. I think the speedway in order to improve needs....... clear relegation rules between 2 divisions. Scrap the national league BUT every team must run a second half meeting team ( how many in the two teams I don’t know ) could say 6 in the main meeting and 4 in the non elite meeting. Within the junior meeting 2 must be under 21 or some sort of limit. This way they get the benefit of being in and around the pits with guys who are experienced and learning without the need to take up a team spot. I think two leagues only would work. From division two, the Top team goes up and the next 4 play off for the final promotion spot. 1st v 4th and 2nd v 3rd play home and away, winners play for other for the final spot. Now yes teams may not be able to afford the best riders in the league but that’s not the challenge for them the challenge is to stay in the league. Or get promoted. riders can only ride for their club not two just one. I think riders having two averages should be scrapped and that one unique average for each rider should be there’s and there’s only. there will be a league trophy cup competition and a dual league trophy competition so the so called smaller clubs get the chance to race against the big boys and try it out. the league is run by independent people that do not own the clubs or have any involvement with clubs making the best choices for the sport as apposed for themselves. in terms of applying for the league every new team can enter, but they start in the bottom league of this league gets two big then this league ONLY gets split at the end of the season based on the top half and bottom half. Teams can’t ask for relegation or promotion and if they finish in those particular places they go up or down. If you are a smaller team with a smaller budget getting pushed up cause you won be happy and your challenge is to build a team that allows you to finish outside the bottom 2. Scrap rider ownership by random clubs. The team the rider rides for is owned by that club. They can be bought/released during the season as transfer or you release the registration and is a free agent. You can also own any riders in the second team you put on. There will be a trophy for the and this will be the development league trophy. Speedway needs to take opinions out of the running there is to many opinions allowing things to change. every thing will be fact. What average is he everyone knows. If he’s British fine give him a reduction, he’s missed one season without riding at all fine he gets a reduction. The reduction could be 2% per season for a maximum of 3 seasons. every rider who has raced British speedway will get an updated average regularly. Personally I’d do this after every week. This will be done on one green sheet and supporters will be able to see what every riders worth is with out looking. Is he A new Aussie, USA etc fine 4 or 5 average. British fine can be a 3. Any rider can ride in any league it’s up to the club to attract them. You have a wage budget/limit for each league. This means the top league teams should be stronger. Only issue with this is the dual cup competition but this adds to the fantasy off say a smaller team beating a bigger team. there’s many more questions to this and probably people will disagree but just thought during lockdown I’d post my thoughts on British speedway.
  20. Unfortunately this thread is just becoming petty and I see more grown up conversations in the playground. completely wrong that both of you have said either a stadium should close or you think the stadium is rubbish because it doesn’t suit how you want it to be. the unique thing about speedway is the different styles of tracks some huge and some small and technical. I for one have seen some great racing at Plymouth and both other tracks all over The UK I’ve visited. unfortunately the sports on its arse I believe because..... The rules change every year without fail imagine if the rules changed in football every year no one would accept it. the teams change every year because if they do well you have to change. 21. Stoneman Atkins Herbie hancock (5 point average ?!) then one other
  22. The silhouette of the rider being announced tomorrow looks like Bjarne Pedersen.
