  1. just dont think its that simple skids ,if you havnt read and studied the lease you cant make assumptions about what the council can do, or try and guess what they might want to do.Regarding sport at the stadium i do know that the lease specifies that the leaseholder must provide any two of the three sports speedway, greyhounds or football (always assumed to be pooletown) but the leaseholder alone to decide which two, they obviously picked speedway and dogs being the most profitable two.(no money in non league football as they might now be discovering at torquay lol)so speedway wasnt guaranteed tho would have been pretty stupid not to stage it.
  2. i do hope the council have a policy to cover potential different eventualities at the stadium and are quite firm, but as you would know skids commercial leases can be very complex and i would imagine the stadium lease would be many pages of legal "stuff". I just somehow cant believe mr osborne and co would put themselves in a position whereby they would forfeit the lease unless they actually wanted "out" and im pretty sure they dont want away as they still see potential in the site (for potential read profit)
  3. definetly not as simple as that skids(ruckeroos point about dogs never returning might well be true)as you know the key to a greyhound tracks profitability is streaming revenues, poole have lost their sunday stream to a northern track which only left two and they have been moved to sister track swindon who already had 3 streams to betting shops daytime mon, wed, andfri so they now have income from 5 streams, problem at poole was that of their two streams the tues eve was only on rptv and what they pay is only just above the break even figure for the meeting,so the only profit for the week would be sat evening but theyre aleady receiving that money via swindon so why take it from swindon back to poole?logical to have all5 streams from one track and mothball the other.Other problems are that quite a few poole trainers have now given up and retired their hounds and the poole trainers that moved to swindon have been told they are not poole trainers anymore but swindon trainers so there might not be enough dogs to reopen poole. Also skids to be profitable on a sat night the restaurant needs to be full (usually was) any sort of social distancing would prevent this ,so no dog racing! I first had dealings with stadia uk 40 yrs ago forget what they called themselves then based at the old eastville stadium before they developed it ,and theyhave always kept all their cards very close to themselves so anything could happen, another rumour last wk was that in a few yrs swindon would close for housing and the whole operation would move to poole so who knows!!! one thing for certain skids poole will not have any dog racing this august, which brings me back to my original point, young ford needs to establish if they will reopen the stadium for a few speedway meetings only ??
  4. as all the stadium staff bar one have been furloughed will that cause problems?or perhaps the scheme will allow them to work one day per wk? has young ford mentioned if any discussions have taken place with stadium?
  5. swindon promoters should have shown the same vision as the pirates and be with us in the championship lol
  6. they arent forcing any rider to do anything, its the riders decision if you want to ride in poland this yr youll have to live there your choice, anyway do you think any premiership football club would allow a player to play for them on sat but live in poland the rest of the wk,no if you want to play football over here you live here
  7. one scenario matt could be there wont be enough planes, many have been seriously mothballed and parts removed, will there be enough pilots?airlines might decide "if you want to fly thats the price"
  8. have i missed something but why dont they just wait it out over here?
  9. hope theres not endless chat on the centre green on a very chilly evening!!might be a trip to the restaurant !!
  10. could happen in any race richard(hopefully not)would give the new riders a chance to to experience track conditions at different stages of the meeting?
  11. notice they plan to hold 3 "match races" between the 3 new aussies at middlos testimonial "after the main event"surely better to spread them out through the meeting??
  12. agree should be a good night, tho possibly cold, hopefully dry.Cant believe middlo needs the money how about U16s free or go mad U18s free !!
  13. catching up reading the star and very very impressed with eastbournes marketing( initiatetives) ideas even! targeting so many youngsters, deserves success, way ahead of poole even tho were supposed to have bright youngsters now promoting!!
  14. you omitted the question mark orion after your second question no worries, obviously if you make a losing selection you lose your money thats pretty obvious.A lot of people prefer to bet on a" round" rather than the final outcome,99%of football bets are on each weekly "round" not the league winners,i know people who bet on the snooker rounds but not ante post the outright winner, same with many many sports.as i dont know who you are orion i cant and wont make any comment on your possible relations.
  15. agree, big season changing replacements arent around(usually)
  16. easier for a rider to win a round than be world champion so if hes 3s for both more chance of a "pick up" if betting the round
  17. very good question, presumably its all about money or rather lack of it,what happens if a championship season doesnt provide healthy profits to fund a return to the premiership?? or do people know there will be a significant input of monies for 2021 season ???
  18. think theyre looking for a young aussie who can "double-up",that is doubling up as a painter and decorator at the chateaux on non racedays!
  19. im not sure whether all these delayed announcements and people trying to be "in the know" ha ha,actually adds to the anticipation or makes it all a touch boring and tedious!
  20. do you think a bye is an advantage "hammer" surely its a missed opportunity for the club and riders to earn more,as a supporter i would prefer the extra meeting
  21. think the best ones were all sorted ray, probably before the end of last season, existing championship teams would be more up to speed with young british talent than poole are at the moment.
  22. so why bother with a draw in the first place?
  23. my comment wasnt about reserves per se,it was about the use of them in away matches, which team managers do occasionally get wrong and it was team managers we were discussing. We could have a bottom four of equal or similar ability so quite a bit of juggling may be required on away trips. Please try and give a reasoned, balanced and thoughtfull response (haha)
  24. use of reserves could be quite critical for poole this year particularly away matches
