  1. With what happened tonight it is about time that teams were only allowed to use rider replacement if they have declared a number eight and the number eight is present and ready to race. Riders being taken ill or being hurt racing cannot be helped but there should always be seven riders ready to race at the start of a meeting for both sides.
  2. I agree that Hackney went thanks to the 2012 Olympic games but Wimbledon was knocked down to build a football stadium and 600+ flats and for the developer it was the flats that made the money and the football stadium was just there to get planning permission.
  3. There have been a number of people mentioning the lack of racing in London and having lived in the capital for most of my life I can only feel very sad at what has happened. While I was young my parents took me racing to Wimbledon, West Ham, New Cross, Hackney, Crayford, White City and Romford for Speedway. We also went to Wimbledon, Harringay, West Ham, White City, Walthamstow and Crayford for Stock Cars. At the same time there was greyhound racing at all of those tracks except Romford which still has a greyhound track. Two other greyhound tracks that come to mind are Crayford and Wandsworth. Except for the Romford and Crayford greyhound stadiums all are now closed and knocked down with shopping centres or housing built on the site. Tracks just outside London included Staines, Arena Essex, Rye House and Rayleigh which I enjoyed racing at but no longer exist. The whole situation is very sad for speedway, stock car and greyhound racing fans. London has become a desert with ever more housing built and then our political masters wonder why the young find entertainment in spraying graffiti everywhere or having mob fights at a weekend. Now my closest tracks for speedway are Poole and Isle of Wight but public transport no longer can get me home afterwards. For stock cars the choice is Aldershot and that is a 30 minute walk from the station! I am just happy to have enjoyed the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s when I could enjoy motor racing on 2 and 4 wheels in the London area and feel sorry for those who are growing up now.
  4. Up until this season the news section always gave information if a match had been postponed for any reason but now all they do is remove the pre meeting promotion article and you have to go to the fixtures page to find out if the meeting has been postponed or if the website is just playing games and has lost the article for some reason. A bad case of not keeping your paying public up to date.
  5. It was a BriSCA Formula One Stock Car meeting and sadly the last Spedeworth meeting at the track.
  6. I have been getting it for about two weeks as well and the number of spam emails I get went up at the same time. It doesn't happen with any other sites so hope whatever bug has got in is removed soon.
  7. Report and scores on the Warriors website for the opening meeting of the season on 23rd June.
  8. I just wish Wightlink would start running the later boat from Ryde as until they do I can't get home from meeting. Wish everyone involved in Warriors Speedway a very successful 2022 and look forward to the day I can join you to enjoy the action.
  9. This may have been answered already but given that Berwick have changed two riders does this count as one change or two under the rules?
  10. I find it interesting reading the comments about the bad shape of the track as it was originally built to be the same shape as the original speedway track at Wimbledon to help the Scottish stock car drivers to win at the major championships that were held at Wimbledon. In later years Roy Cecil who ran Spedeworth Scotland joked that he and Gordon McDougall tossed a coin each winter and the loser had to run Armadale.
  11. I no longer have a car but when I used to drive all over the country following both speedway and stock car racing. I always arranged my travel with a break every 60 to 90 minutes and would check for any postponements at each stop. Now that I use trains to travel around the country I can check at anytime during the journey but since I won't save any money by turning round at the next stop I now make trips with a duel purpose. So for Poole I spent the day on the Swanage Railway and for trips to Isle of Wight it was the IOW Steam Railway and then on to Smallbrook stadium. Sadly both are not possible at the moment due to the late train from Poole and the late Ryde to Portsmouth boat having been cancelled. Hopefully thing will improve next year. The other thing to remember is that weather forecasts are not that reliable. My wife and I have different apps on our phones and it is very rare that they are even close to agreeing. So all the promotion can do is look at a few apps and based on past experience guess what will happen. Getting it right is vital to the promotion as failure will result in losses that speedway can't afford.
  12. If the above is true then how can a rider replace the notified guest on the day of an meeting when the new guest's meeting has been postponed?
  13. Good to see the BSPL website giving details on the Premiership Pairs. In the write up it says that each team must have a Rising Star as their third rider and the RS must take at least one ride but then the list of who is riding for each team only gives the names of the top two riders and fails to say who the RS is! Now I know we all know who the RS is on each team but why leave their names out of the write up?
  14. Sadly any business that uses large amounts of water (speedway track, football ground, steam railway) will be on a water meter and will pay for every gallon they use.
  15. I have the same low opinion of Brandon Estates (Coventry stadium) and Galliard Homes (Wimbledon stadium) but would be banned from this site if I was to put that opinion in print. May the people who run both companies rot in hell is as far as I can go.
  16. Just looked at the Diamonds website and the next meeting according to the website is on Sunday 8th May against Glasgow! The latest news story is about over 65's getting in free on 22nd May which is the meeting that has been cancelled according to the Facebook message but still appears on the BSPL website as the next Diamonds home meeting. Left hand and right hand don't appear to know what the other is doing! It is good to see the promotion are using social media but they need to make sure that all platforms have the same message so they don't land up sending out different messages on different platforms.
  17. The date of this meeting is 9th May and not as shown in the header. Now corrected, thanks.
  18. The problem is that the rules are always written in such a way that they can be interpreted in at least two, and sometimes more, different ways. If the BSPL wrote rules that were clear and concise then the sport would be a lot better off. The current situation with the rules makes the sport a bad joke to many people. The rule on team changes should have clearly stated what was considered the start of the season and then there would have been no arguments.
  19. At a TV meeting during the last season at Rye House the promotion handed out pump action air horns. I got one and it proved to be as loud as one which needs a refill. I took it to the next meeting only to be told that I could not use it as they created a nuisance. I pointed out that the promotion had issued them and was told they were only allowed at TV meetings as they created a better atmosphere. I asked why they didn't want a better atmosphere at non-TV meetings and was told that I was being awkward!
  20. The track is still there but now tarmac and known as Matchams Park, used by stock cars, hot rods and bangers.
  21. Only possible way the referee can justify that decision is to say the race was stopped due to an unsatisfactory start and not due to anything that happened on the third bend.
  22. A person who never makes a mistake never does anything. By the way, the stock car and hot rod promotion are called Spedeworth! Don't ask me why as Les Eaton, the founder of Spedeworth could not explain the spelling when I asked him in the 1970's.
  23. From the Spedeworth fixture list:- 18/ 4 - 1pm -Ipswich BangersSponsored by Whip St. MotorsLightning RodsPolleysport/Yokohama Tyres Series RoundNational Hot Rods2021/22 World Qualifying Round 10
  24. A bit worrying that Devils still don't have a team declaration according to the BSPL latest information. But neither do Oxford or Mildenhall so it is probably just a case of the BSPL being rather slow.
