  1. Literally the same experience I had, not quite plain sailing all the time but pretty relaxed for most of it depending who I was helping. I wouldn't want to do it now though.
  2. Must of been a case of falling out either over not getting paid, which happens alot to mechanics believe it or not or Jake had a family emergency that came first as it quite rightly should, there's more to life than washing bikes and feeling pressured to abandon your own family.
  3. As far as I'm aware jhr have made a couple of rear ends over the years that are different to conventional rear ends made by the likes of jawa and stuha.
  4. I'd certainly say it's got alot to do with it , fair play to the polish mechanics that come over and work till they realise the cost of living here. Don't get me wrong, there's a good few mechanics that make it work, I think it's down to personal circumstances imo.
  5. Yes dean with your own business it would work as you'd be in charge of your income accordingly but we weren't all fortunate enough for that, apart from that over the 32 odd years I mechaniced and held down full time jobs eventually it takes it's toll and in the end I just wasn't interested anymore. I had great times and some times when I was wishing I hadn't bothered. The best years of speedway have gone now and alot of riders don't appreciate the hard work and sacrifices their mechanic makes.
  6. Don't forget running around getting parts and picking up and dropping off riders at airports etc , picking up and dropping engines off at the tuner,I can definitely say it's turned into a full time job and the money unless your very lucky to work for a generous rider isn't that great and holding down a regular job is very difficult when your getting home from meetings very late at night . When I did it my annual leave soon got used up and I lost money over the years not to mention the time apart from the family especially if you have children that during the season you hardly see. It's not for everyone, young, free and single with no financial commitment is who it suits nowadays. IMO.
  7. No one will ever be a better commentator than Dave Lanning was.
  8. Ben Morley must be the all time record holder for appearance and point scoring in the 3rd division or national league as it's now known.
  9. Can't see King going unless Hawkins goes, they have been joined at the hip for years.
  10. Yes and trainie electrition by the way he used a screwdriver
  11. The team manager does most of their work away from the meeting itself, like has been pointed out their job at the meeting is pretty limited but away from that there is a lot to organise like team declaration and making riders available sometimes to other teams.
  12. Sounds like a description of how Adam roynon rides.
  13. Get their names engraved on the trophy as winners now as it's almost a certainty.
  14. I think I'd rather watch the tractors going round and round than listen to some of the riders trying to string an interesting sentence together.
  15. Belle vue massively stronger with Cairns instead of schimelt.
  16. We aren't all experts like yourself, brain cell used up now.
  17. Again a few riders just not good enough, halder isn't to be relied on for a good points haul ever.
  18. Definitely, he'll score three times more than who he's in place of.
  19. If foord has no bikes then surely and in my experience of attending meetings a team mate would say " use my bike" . No point being a team if you can't or don't help each other. Even if the bike wasn't set up comfortably at least he'd of completed the rides required.
  20. Didn't attend the meeting but reading what went on I'd say there was some rule bending done by poole, probably would of won regardless having a very strong team . Not as good as in past seasons but not good enough for the top league anymore.
