But you can spend the day in Oxford beforehand, which is a far nicer city! -
Oxford v Birmingham Wed 14th June CL

Those were the days!! No, don't really need cash. Programme is £3 if you want one and is mainly cash only, but think you can buy one from the club shop with a card. Not sure if any of the mobile fast food stores accept cash, mind. You can park for free at the Unipart car park, but you need to book it (can risk just turning up and parking, I think some have done in the past and it's been fine, but never done it myself). Think it's pretty easy to book on the Oxford website. The car park is about a 5/10min walk from the stadium, but there's also a shuttle bus. There's also a Tesco superstore round the corner (10/15min walk) and you can park for free for 3 hours I think. No real food outlets around the stadium, other than what's inside. There's a Burger King at the same place as the Tesco superstore, and you can get a meal at the Beefeater connected to the the Premier Inn (other side of the roundabout from the Tesco). Hope you enjoy the visit! -
Oxford full strength - bar Luke Killeen - and Birmingham have Drew Kemp guesting. An easy Cheetahs win? Oxford Cheetahs: Sam Masters, Cameron Heeps, Lewis Kerr, Jordan Jenkins, Scott Nicholls, Henry Atkins, Ryan Kinsley. Birmingham Brummies: Nick Morris, Alfie Bowtell, Dan Thompson, Drew Kemp (G), Justin Sedgmen, Joe Thompson, James Pearson

What a strange take. He clearly made some odd decisions (especially Sedgmen), and can therefore see why some Birmingham fans were asking for him to be replaced. Those strange decisions didn't cost Birmingham matches, but they certainly didn't help either. Results aren't going to instantly improve, but every little helps, no? Some time out will probably do Rogers some good as well, and I hope he makes a swift recovery.

Workington v Leicester 10/06/2023 3pm
Bojangles replied to topaz325's topic in National League Speedway
None of them as good as Jenkins in my opinion, especially this year. Jenkins and Thompson have been picked as a rising star, whereas Bailey was overlooked. Just looking at 2023 averages (rolling for the Champ), Jenkins stands out... NDL Jordan Jenkins – 11.04 Connor Bailey – 10.25 Dan Thompson – 10.13 Alfie Bowtell – 9.26 Max Clegg - TBC Champ Jordan Jenkins – 6.43 Dan Thompson – 5.88 Alfie Bowtell – 5.27 Connor Bailey – 4.81 Max Clegg – 4.60 Prem Dan Thompson – 4.00 Jordan Jenkins – 3.94 And if it was still in doubt, Jenkins is also the National Development League Riders' Champion. -

I very much doubt whoever drove him up, would just let him leave and drive him back if they didn’t agree with him! Read into what you will. Young riders are usually influenced by their elder guardians. Henry Atkins was a lot like this, heavily influenced by his father and that often backfired for him. Thankfully, Atkins seems to have grown up now and is starting to show some potential. -

Jordan Jenkins might have something to say about that. -
Poole Vs Plymouth 7th June league

Couldn’t agree more, I’m loving the Championship and NDL…just think they might be tempted to try and move up next year and can’t see it being blocked now! -
Poole Vs Plymouth 7th June league

Would make sense for Oxford in my opinion. Plenty of teams much closer to them (Ipswich, Peterborough, Wolves, King's Lynn and Leicester - although admittedly a couple of them might sadly not be around next season) than the teams in Championship. I get why they were a bit tentative at first, as it was difficult to gauge how many fans would turn up when they returned, but they are still getting very healthy crowds. No greyhound racing on Tuesday or Thursdays either - biggest issue is probably having enough free days to keep the Charges going in the NDL. -
Just read the report of the meeting on the Mildenhall website, were they watching a different meeting to me? It's one of the most bitter reports of a team that were well beaten I've seen in a while. Somehow mechanical gremlins and bad referring decisions were the reason they lost... http://www.mildenhall-speedway.com/index.php/latest-news/305-report-oxford-v-mildenhall-2

Ha. The word 'consistent' should have naturally told you otherwise!
-
I was talking about Aaron Summers, not Batch.
-
Every chance of tempting him back then. He'd do a job. He's not going to get maximums, but he's always pretty consistent.
-
Hasn't he gone permanently back to Australia with his family?
-
Solid win for the Chargers tonight. It was all a bit nervy in the first few heats, but they pulled clear for a comfortable win in the end. Oxford need to sort the reserve situation out otherwise it'll come back to bite them at some point, but I think Jenkins and Atkins are probably the strongest pairing in the league at the moment.
-
Oxford announced at the Chargers match tonight that Luke Killeen was told he'll be out of action for 12 weeks. However, he went to Poland to have the operation and Sparta are helping him with his recovery. Still sounds like he's going to be out for a while, though.
-
I heard he flew to Poland to have an operation on his wrist to speed the process up. Think he'll still be back, but these things take time I guess. He did say he wouldn't come back until he was fully fit - citing Jack Thomas trying to rush back last season and doing more harm than good to his wrists.
-
A big clash towards the top of the league - even at this stage of the season. Both teams coming off recent back-to-back wins, and it was pretty close when they met at Mildenhall. Oxford look a bit weak at reserve with Kelsey Dugard and Luke Killeen both out - replaced by Sam Woods and Kai Ward. Oxford Chargers: 1. Jordan Jenkins, 2. Jacob Clouting, 3. Henry Atkins, 4. Jody Scott, 5. Ryan Kinsley, 6. Sam Woods, 7. Kai Ward Mildenhall Fen Tigers: 1. Alfie Bowtell, 2. Arran Butcher, 3. Ben Trigger, 4. George Congreve, 5. Lee Complin, 6. William Richardson, 7. Josh Warren
-
So Oxford has clarified the Dugard situation, stating the following: Cheetahs were hit by the withdrawal of Kelsey Dugard after two rides with a reoccurrence of an arm injury. Looks like both Embleton and Dugard aggravated old injuries and neither should have been replaced in heat 14!
-
They are the rules, but has it actually been said that Dugard aggravated an old injury as opposed to sustaining a new one, or is this all pure speculation? There certainly wasn’t anything wrong with him at Edinburgh the night before. Edit: Looks like Oxford has now said it was a recurrence of an old injury. Oops.

Monarchs Academy vs Oxford Chargers - Fri 2nd June
Bojangles replied to Bojangles's topic in National League Speedway
Bickley said in his Instagram post that he planned on retiring before last night’s match, but didn’t want to leave Edinburgh without a rider. Doesn’t sound like somebody out for revenge - he could have just not bothered turning up if that’s the case. More likely he had already retired in his mind and was just going through the motions, trying to get the meeting done without any issues. -
Monarchs Academy vs Oxford Chargers - Fri 2nd June

Sounded like the Monarchs shot themselves in the foot a bit, but a pretty impressive win for the Chargers regardless. On to Berwick.
