Belle Vue’s to lose this year now that Sheffield are without their number 1 and Wolves and Leicester are hot and cold. The Aces need this one as with the averages the existing team is on there’ll need to be changes ahead unless the BSPL committee put a decent average limit in place instead of the ridiculous 39 points which limits the higher averages riders
-
No longer having a stronger rider at reserve (Howarth or Kerr) definitely costing Sheffield, Vissing not up to Premiership standard, looked slow at Owlerton last week and the same tonight. Best Sheffield can hope for now is a couple of decent guests in the KO Cup final legs and hopefully retain the trophy. As for the Play Off semi finals think Wolves will easily win over the two legs

Championship Pairs - Sep 1st
InTheDeepStuff replied to Bojangles's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If Richie Worrall has pulled out then Plymouth might as well remove themselves from the competition as Kyle Howarth can’t win it in his own as cant see much support from either Trigger or Pearson if that’s all that they have left -
Sheffield v King's Lynn 31/8/23
InTheDeepStuff replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Last time Chris Holder rode Owlerton in a competitive race was at Todd Kurtz’s testimonial in March 2022, had two race wins (beat Brady Kurtz, Tobiasz Musielak, Sam Masters & Ryan Douglas in those two races) so he might not take too long to get used to the place on Thursday. Only way this one won’t be another massacre if is the Sheffield management are looking at keeping the riders averages down for 2024! -
Personally think Sheffield had to make a move as Adam Ellis just wasn’t doing what was needed from a 3rd heat leader but it’s a tough one for Lewi Kerr as had done nothing wrong just purely numbers, Chris Holder will score more than Adam was doing (generally scored 6 from 4 over last few months), but Claus Vissing will score less at reserve than Lewi Kerr was doing and doesn’t give Sheffield much cover down there now if Jason Edwards/Josh Pickering/Kyle Howarth is struggling in a meeting so could end up being zero effect.

Lublin put their foot down, no English league racing for Jack Holder until he’d started back riding for Lublin, so first he could have ridden for Sheffield would have been 11th Sept missing the final three league matches
-
With the tracks left to ride at in league/play off and KO Cup I can’t see the new additions of Jack, Vissing and Connor scoring more than that three than they would replace. Brining in Premiership riders at 6 point average (Vissing) and 5 point average (Connor) in for Kyle (8 point average) and Lewi (8 point average) just makes no sense to me. The team was built to have a solid reserve and good engine room, I can’t see Connor scoring what Lewi and Kyle have done at 6 this year and Vissing will get nothing near what they have done when at either 2 or 4, OK they’ve both had an off night recently but they were one offs. Hopefully this one is just a rumour.

Leicester v Sheffield 26th August 6.30pm.
InTheDeepStuff replied to tocha's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
No luck for Kyle Howarth tonight, two blown engines had to ride Pickering’s second bike for majority of the night -
So looks like Sheffield will be replacing Ellis especially if unsure how long his shoulder injury (cough cough!!) will take to heal with someone around the 7 point marker, I’d say they’d have needed to have ridden in UK before and their Polish season be over like Holder snr, Przedpelski or Wozniak) and then possibly either Kerr to go with a around 4+ point replacement which weakens team at reserve but gives them back the third heat leader other option would be Pickering to go instead of Kerr and a slightly stronger reserve coming in like Mountain Musielak 8.71, Woffinden 7.03, C Holder 7.16, Howarth 5.75, Pickering 6.24 A.N Other 4.11 Unatached Rising Star (Edwards, Boughen, etc) = 39.00 Musielak 8.71, Woffinden 7.03, C Holder 7.16, Howarth 5.75, Kerr 5.68 Mountain 4.40 Unatached Rising Star (Edwards, Boughen, etc) = 38.73

Wonder if Adam Ellis is turning up for this one or having his week off? Will be a close one as always v Wolves. Pickering, Howarth & Kerr need to come to the party (and Ellis if he rocks up) as no Gilkes weakens the team no matter how good Boughen will be it’ll be tough tonight at a track he’s never ridden in a higher league. Close home win 48-42

With bonus point included Kyle’s average has gone up 1.6 points from start of the season, so highly doubt they’ll drop him over Adam when his has gone down by 1.8 points over last 18 months. Easier said than done but they need someone to do the job as a third heat leader, Adam isn’t doing that and neither is Josh they are both up and down with points scoring. Josh, Kyle and Lewi are all solid second strings (or strong reserves) so the reliance on Adam with the way the team was built was massive and unfortunately over last 18 months he’s just not performed consistently
-
See on Facebook that Adam Ellis has recently posted this, don’t know about week off as Sheffield have Leicester away and Wolves at home in next 7 days, unless he’s been told he’s being replaced “One to forget yesterday. Struggle for speed and the second bike blew up on the stand Just not happening at the moment, week off to get things sorted and decide where to go from here.”

Any news on Dan? Know his sister and grandad said wrist and hip before he was taken off in ambulance but not seen any updates today

I think this scenario would work 1 Jack Holder comes back into team ahead of expiry of Tai Woffinden’s 28 day contract 2 Same time as brining Jack Holder back in ahead of transfer deadline re-declare team removing Adam Ellis (6.00) and either Josh Pickering (6.24) or Lewi Kerr (5.73) that gives 12.24 or 11.73 and replace with Tai Woffinden (7.03) and Connor Mountain (4.51) for 11.54

Try looking in Premiership for a Polish reserve and think you’ll have your replacement answer

Leicester lions 2023 (PREMIERSHIP)
InTheDeepStuff replied to PhilTheAce's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
what I was saying was he uses that when it seems to suit, he may suffer with it but it seems that speedway isn’t helping him, a lot with him is to do with issues outside of speedway I know he had a big thing happen over the winter that’s not been all over the speedway press or social media and also had some work on his back post season that no doubt impacted him I have family and friends that have been diagnosed with anxiety so know how it impacts people and if they identify a situation or scenario that gets to then they steer clear which could be something Cook could with following -

InTheDeepStuff replied to PhilTheAce's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Any team taking on Cook is a massive gamble, always misses meetings with a variety of reasons be that mental health card, dodgy van, or just doesn’t fancy it, it’s been the same for years now. They’d have been better going for someone who gives their all each meeting like Mountain and use the points elsewhere to rebuild -
Sheffield Tigers v Peterborough Panthers 17/08/23
InTheDeepStuff replied to Pitch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This could go one of two ways but expect both to be a home win, Sheffield team all click and Peterborough go through the motions with season over it’s a massive home win, Peterborough ride for a bit of pride for their club and fans could be a narrow home win Would be good to see the Sheffield engine room of Howarth, Pickering and Ellis all fire for a change with Kerr getting back in the points. interesting to see how Tarasenko goes in drier conditions and also Cook. You’d expect Woldyjo (sp) to get to grips with a fast track but we’ve said that about a lot of Poles around Owlerton, sure Museliak will give home some tips but hopefully that’s after ht15 -
Bombers Pending Statement
InTheDeepStuff replied to KevAustin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
He’ll not say much, if he upsets the apple cart with the promotions that are left in the sport it’ll do him more bad than good when it comes to getting a contract for 2024 and onwards -
Oops!! :-)
-
Pickering and Ellis - Out Woffinden and Mountain - In That would put Kerr at 2, Howarth at 4 and Woffinden at 3 1 Holder 2 Kerr 3 Woffinden 4 Howarth 5 Museliak 6 Mountain 7 Gilkes
-
If the rumour on the Leicester page comes to fruition (Robert Lambert in for Richard Lawson) that strengthens that team up. Hopefully the Sheffield promotion are on the look out to strengthen our third heat leader position as it’s becoming more and more obvious that Adam Ellis’ form is continuing to drop, since start of 2022 season a 1.92 point drop in his average
-
Big home meeting for Sheffield where a win is a must to keep up their play-off chances and sure they’ll want to make up for the home loss against Leicester earlier in the season, both teams have made changes since last lining up against each other. Not sure if the Rising Stars Gilkes and Kemp will be available for this one as representing Team GB in SON2 in Latvia on Friday, be interesting to see who the replacements are if that’s the case. For Sheffield obviously Woffinden will want to make his mark around Owlerton although I don’t see him scoring anything like what Holder was doing pre injury, both him and Musielak will Have their work cut out against fast gaters in Fricke and Lawson. Engine room should be where the meeting is won and lost with Howarth/Ellis/Pickering v Sedgemen/Worrall/Cook, can see those riders taking points off each other. Think Sheffield will sneak this one by the odd point 47-43 Update Ace Pijper in for Gilkes & Jason Edwards for Kemp

Plymouth Vs Berwick 8/8/23 live BSN
InTheDeepStuff replied to Cast1rn's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Imagine there’s a few Plymouth riders who’ll be wanting this season done so they can find a new base for 2024, shambolic to only prep 1hr before, if the promoter does the track and everything else then some delegation needed as a one man show will never work
