  1. What would Ipswich do if that’s the case? R/R or guest?? Harris already in for Sheffield, Lawson can’t due to 8 day rule, Fricke has broken bone in his hand and due an operation this week (if not had it already), Laguta has broken bone in his arm, that leaves NKI, Basso, Tarasenko, Ben Cook, Sedgmen, Kerr or MPT. With that selection I’d go for Kerr with his Owlerton experience, R/R only hope is that Sayfutdinov and King win their rides and Rew and Riss can pick up a couple between them
  2. Can see Etheridge doing at least one leg if not both next week if Sheffield get through and Vissing still out
  3. Damien Bates on ‘No Brakes No Fear’ podcast said 8 day rule doesn’t apply to guests appearing for number 1 in averages so that’s why Lambert been pencilled in for next week also
  4. Looks like R/R then as what’s left ain’t up to the task
  5. There’s the 8 day guest rule also to take into consideration for a guest not replacing the number one in the averages (Musielak goes to number one from 1/10). Damien Bates has confirmed that Robert Lambert and Richard Lawson are doing the 2nd leg v Wolves this Thursday and that Robert Lambert has agreed to do both legs of the final if Sheffield get there. If no Tai Woffinden next week (imagine that he’s season is over after the crash on Sunday but would live it if he was back) then Sheffield could use Chris Harris for both legs v Ipswich as a guest, as Lawson would not be able to guest in the 2nd leg of the final due to the 8 day rule and Damien’s preference is to have the same guest for both legs As for Vissing, no guest confirmed yet for a Thursday, but imagine after his last guest appearance Jye Etheridge will be in for the two legs of the final if Vissing continues to be out next week Why is nothing every straight forward!!
  6. Proper team player also, out there after Lawson knocked off in Ht15 helping prep bike etc, racer at heart
  7. Solid performance from the Sheffield unlike any of the previous visits this season, Howarth set the tone in heat one and they consolidated from there picking up vital heat advantages throughout the meeting to end up with a deserved victory. Only half a job done though as seen Wolves win on more than one occasion at Owlerton over last few years
  8. Could see someone like Kyle Howarth at Scunny, don’t think the season at Plymouth as really helped him and sure he could add to his average having a home track that gives more opportunities to overtake
  9. Watched him at a Redcar on Friday on a very tricky track (more experienced team mates struggled early doors) and he did roll of every first bend after the start pretty sure he’ll learn with experience that h needs ti get elbows out and get involved with the tight first bends as always behind the eight ball if not, he did have the speed to catch up to Luke Harrison but never threatened to pass
  10. Not good en….. injured his knee in Denmark a couple of weeks ago, been missing Glasgow’s fixtures also
  11. Like Sheffield when they had Ellis, spent big £££ on foreign kit and rock up to UK with a bag of spanners and hope it does the job
  12. Why? He can’t ride Wolves or Owlerton? Even Harris would score more as a guest
  13. Don’t worry Fricke isn’t riding for Sheffield v Wolves in the play off’s, so you can have him.
  14. He’s preparing for next season by getting used to the Ipswich folk
  15. Vissing had an off in Denmark tonight and pulled out after that ride with leg pain. Looks like a guest needed at reserve for at least the Wolves meeting tomorrow
  16. Belle Vue’s to lose this year now that Sheffield are without their number 1 and Wolves and Leicester are hot and cold. The Aces need this one as with the averages the existing team is on there’ll need to be changes ahead unless the BSPL committee put a decent average limit in place instead of the ridiculous 39 points which limits the higher averages riders
  17. No longer having a stronger rider at reserve (Howarth or Kerr) definitely costing Sheffield, Vissing not up to Premiership standard, looked slow at Owlerton last week and the same tonight. Best Sheffield can hope for now is a couple of decent guests in the KO Cup final legs and hopefully retain the trophy. As for the Play Off semi finals think Wolves will easily win over the two legs
  18. If Richie Worrall has pulled out then Plymouth might as well remove themselves from the competition as Kyle Howarth can’t win it in his own as cant see much support from either Trigger or Pearson if that’s all that they have left
  19. Last time Chris Holder rode Owlerton in a competitive race was at Todd Kurtz’s testimonial in March 2022, had two race wins (beat Brady Kurtz, Tobiasz Musielak, Sam Masters & Ryan Douglas in those two races) so he might not take too long to get used to the place on Thursday. Only way this one won’t be another massacre if is the Sheffield management are looking at keeping the riders averages down for 2024!
  20. Personally think Sheffield had to make a move as Adam Ellis just wasn’t doing what was needed from a 3rd heat leader but it’s a tough one for Lewi Kerr as had done nothing wrong just purely numbers, Chris Holder will score more than Adam was doing (generally scored 6 from 4 over last few months), but Claus Vissing will score less at reserve than Lewi Kerr was doing and doesn’t give Sheffield much cover down there now if Jason Edwards/Josh Pickering/Kyle Howarth is struggling in a meeting so could end up being zero effect.
  21. Lublin put their foot down, no English league racing for Jack Holder until he’d started back riding for Lublin, so first he could have ridden for Sheffield would have been 11th Sept missing the final three league matches
  22. Wonder if Musielak and Woffinden have been hit by the air traffic control issues if flying in from Poland ?
  23. With the tracks left to ride at in league/play off and KO Cup I can’t see the new additions of Jack, Vissing and Connor scoring more than that three than they would replace. Brining in Premiership riders at 6 point average (Vissing) and 5 point average (Connor) in for Kyle (8 point average) and Lewi (8 point average) just makes no sense to me. The team was built to have a solid reserve and good engine room, I can’t see Connor scoring what Lewi and Kyle have done at 6 this year and Vissing will get nothing near what they have done when at either 2 or 4, OK they’ve both had an off night recently but they were one offs. Hopefully this one is just a rumour.
