  1. No not a dig at all football takes all the headlines up here United and City dominate the sporting scene, followed by rugby league and cricket, lot of lower league football clubs as well, after Hyde Road was demolished quite a few fans were lost as they couldnt adjust to the confines of the dog track, then crowds just fell off and when the NSS opened many had been lost for good. Its amazing when i mention speedway the amount of people who say i used to go to Hyde Road are they still racing, they dont even know the NSS exists. I have seen David James when he played for City at the speedway and have seen Paul Scholes a few times too, sadly as we are seeing with the demise of so many clubs speedway is falling out of peoples awareness. Belle Vue have become Manchesters best kept secret. Was encouraging to see such a good crowd for the play off final second leg.
  2. Its the same here with support for United and City and Ricky Hattons support was off the scale he took a reported 30,00 fans to Las Vegas for his title fights plus both sets of football fans attended his funeral. Obviously Ipswich is smaller than Manchester but the support for sport down there cant be knocked, the town should be proud. Was great to see Fabio win he put in a great performance.
  3. Seems like the last desperate throw of the dice
  4. I spoke to the regular postman some time ago before all the deliveries went haywire, he told me then parcels were being prioritised over letters and that he had more parcels on his round up to 25kg, i think Royal Mail had to try to compete with the likes of Amazon and DPD at the expense of regular mail, emails will no doubt have had an effect on the volume of letters. Be interesting to see if magazine subscriptions have fallen generally nationwide.
  5. I get all other mail without problems but instead of the regular postman we have different ones all the time and delivery times can be from 10am to 1600 seems to be all over the place
  6. I was just wondering if anyone else who subscribes has had delivery problems? I have always received my copy thursday mornings for years, since august its been arriving 6 days late, its not the publishers who despatch it as usual. Thought about postal strikes but for 4 months? Anyway after years of subscribing i wont be renewing its better now to just go to Sainsburys thursday morning as its always on the shelf or order it from the local newsagents. Royal Mail cant be relied upon.
  7. I think Poole will do enough at home to see them through the second leg, thats based on Glasgows performances down there so far this season, will Nagel adapt to the track on his first visit, will Tigers reserves be capable of taking points off the home reserves? Intriguing and interesting final.
  8. Yes i noticed that too, ive always thought if i was a rider who came in as a guest just for a final to replace an injured rider who had ridden all season if that injured rider doesnt also get a medal i would hand over mine to him, out of interest do injured riders actually recieve a medal?
  9. Lions let down in the reserve berths, congratulations Witches comiserations Lions.
  10. Sheffield must be kicking themselves they would have been a real threat had they rescued the second leg, must be ruing those last 3 heats at Owlerton.
  11. We had a weak reserve pairing but at least they didnt throw their hand in when at the back like Kemp.
  12. All over now, do Lions have the passion and pride to replicate what Sheffield did in the second leg of their semi?
  13. A total capitulation again from the Lions, how Sheffield must be regretting those last three heats at Owlerton, they would have made it a far more interseting final and would have given 100% fancying their chances.
  14. I think football is going down the same path extending the teams in the world cup to include minority nations that are only going to be cannon fodder for the established nations.
  15. Superb meeting i really enjoyed that, great effort by Sheffield i was predicting an easy home win so full credit to them, it would have been interesting to see Morris back at Leicester. Congratulations to the Lions dug in and got over the line, still unsure about Becker v R/R though, Good luck Leicester in the final i hope you win it.
