  1. I wouldnt be surprised to see Boughen walk away from the sport, confidence shot to pieces seems afraid to mix it in the first bends or when a rider gets close to him, could be a danger to himself and other riders
  2. He can be a solid third heat leader but being beaten by edwards and castagna does leave question marks
  3. So would i think you had to gamble on his gating ability in that one.
  4. He would have been better just riding for Workington to ease himself back in after his injuries.
  5. Yes but i think Ellis, Brennan and King plus Jenkins at reserve trump Blodorn, Cook, Ziskche, and Mulford just think Ipswich have the better all round strength compared to us.
  6. And this was why i decided not to waste petrol money and time
  7. Cook is going to have to step up, think Ipswich will cope better tbh
  8. Lets hope the GP crew dont get involved in track work at the NSS
  9. Every rider back then tried to get the jump on each other dont forget you could actually push the tapes without exclusion, movement was common for all riders, there was a misconception he couldnt pass but ive seen him do it many times when needed which wasnt often, even under todays start rules he would have been a fast trapper.
  10. Yes i understand you completely but telling us the opposite of what we are seeing just makes him look silly, but as you say the production company will want all the positive noises.
  11. I just feel comments about being the greatest world champion of all time are ott, you cant compare eras, in the days of the one of world final there was a long difficult route to qualify for the final, every rider had to qualify on merit including the reigning champion. The night itself you could cut the atmoshphere with a knife, every race counted with no second chances due to a scoring system we see today, there were several riders who could actually take the title. If the current system had been in operation ive ofen wondered how many titles the likes of Mauger would have won, it would have been tailor made for him with his incredible consistency. The GP doesnt have the best 16 riders in the world, there are get out of jail cards thanks to the scoring system and speaking personally the series just doesnt do it for me. Its all about opinion but i dont think you can compare different eras. One other thing some posters have mentioned Tatum saying what a great night of racing as he does during boring league meetings, any non fans watching for the first time must be thinking if this is a great meeting wouldnt like to see a poor one and certainly wouldnt be motivated to go along to their local track if they actually have one.
  12. Looking at how hes struggling and not willing to mix it with other riders i wouldnt be surprised to see him walk away from the sport.
  13. You would think they would want to keep their Championship spot too and if struggling at that level use the better gear there.
  14. I agree with you, ive always said Doyely is a throwback a real speedway racer, whether it be a league match, GP, or an open meeting like the Peter Craven Memorial he leaves nothing out on the track.
  15. Terrible news just hope its not as bad as it seems, ive always liked Doyley got a lot of respect for him, great rider, loyal to British speedway, he seems to be similar to Tai in picking up these injuries, at this stage of their careers they need to think about the future, and they always seem to be the innocent party, i would heed the warnings and call it quits but these are speedway riders a breed apart. Best wishes for a full recovery.
  16. Probably the reason so many people just come out for the play offs and save money during the qualifiers, add in tv and streaming its no surprise numbers on the terraces is so sparse.
  17. Belle Vue produces some of the best racing when the tracks slicker rather than deep.
  18. To be fair its not just him, team riding has become a lost art.
  19. Not bad for throttle jockeys 😉
  20. I dont think TV and now all clubs doing their own stream is going to help put numbers on the terracing when people can save money watching it at home, the exceptions being the play offs. Another thing at one time many clubs raced on a Saturday Belle Vue, Coventry, Cradley, Swindon, Kings Lynn so was a lot easier for people to travel, i remeber when people used to say we need regular speedway shown on TV to entice crowds to the sport, it appears to be having the opposite effect.
