When Collins, Morton, and Lee were coming through there is no comparison at all to the type of riders they were coming up against on a weekly basis as we had by far the strongest league in the world in those days, no doubt riding against the very best week in week out brought their natural ability through. Bewley and Lambert both have a natural talent but as we have seen many times before British riders have in the past failed to live up to expectation. I think Bewley will progress as someone else has stated he has a good racing brain and has his feet firmly on the ground, a lot of that grounding I think is down to his mentor Steve Lawson who is doing a great job looking after Dan, and this is what could be the one thing missing with Lambert, having someone with that experience to help him channel his obvious talent in the right direction. He did seem reluctant to re sign for the Stars this season, lets hope that's not a negative and he can settle down and take the next step in his improvement.

I would say Dan and Kyle at their ages are the best prospects we have had since Collins and Morton burst onto the scene, matching those two would be a massive ask and to compare is unfair but their emergence reminds me of when the latter pair first started with the Aces.

A good idea to get info, but wouldn't telling estate agents "not going ahead with the purchase due to the stadium" give more ammo to the developers? Just a thought.

I certainly saw more than two or three poor matches, with riders strung out, passes will occur especially at NL level due to mistakes, in one match I can remember it being processional apart from heat 13 and 15 which were excellent races, people were calling it a brilliant meeting, no it wasn't, two good heats out of 15 does not add up to a great meeting, in other meetings there was a race for 3rd or 4th whilst half a straight separated the other two, leaving two struggling to get round side by side. Giving figures for passing does not always tell the full story of how a meeting developed as regards to how the passes occurred, I just don't think it was as good as some make out being honest.
-
I thought there was a lot of processional racing last year due the Colts being a lot stronger than most of the opposition, there was some good racing but a lot of very strung out ones as well, having a side not as dominant I think will allow for better closer racing overall.
-
I think the racing will be better this season as the Colts will not be so head and shoulders above the rest around the NSS.

How will Martin Vaculik fare in the U.K.?
bellevueace replied to Sidney the robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Think he will be a top quality addition to the league and do a great job for the Lions. -
Simple fact is he could have chosen to ride/promote the sport in the UK as world champion, he had no interest in doing that, his protestations about the GB setup overall have a very hollow ring about them.
-
Jason Doyle showed great courage and determination in winning his world title with the injuries he was carrying. He has also shown a great loyalty to British speedway unlike a certain Mr Woffinden who as a British world champion could have rode here and helped promote the sport, but decided not to do that. Somerset have a great leader this season and not many will get near Jason around the Oaktree thats for sure. I hope he retains his title and the Rebels do well. (2nd to Aces will be fine)

2018 Premiership Predictions
bellevueace replied to Gavan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
From Bjerre being injured costing us against Coventry to more recent events one fact these events cant hide is over the past two seasons we have choked twice in the away leg at Monmore. -
Wonder if some of Lynche,s decisions during meetings which cost the Lions points was more of a factor than Vakulik wanting Stead? The tv meeting away at Somerset springs to mind.

With all the close season to work on the track I would be surprised if Pooles problematic surface is not much better this season, as for all the who will be better than who no one knows until the season starts, this time last season Kasprzak was being hailed a shrewd signing by some, look what happened there. Im hoping for a season of quality racing.
-
No doubt after I book time off work, accommodation for away matches etc the dates will change as usual.
-
I could never understand why speedway always suffers with the noise situation but nothing ever appears to be said about F1 stocks and their big V8,s roaring around the same tracks creating far more noise?

How can anyone say Drodz will never be as good as Woryna? Hes only 21 and Woryna didnt pull up many trees in his last UK stint, hes improved a lot, that's what young riders tend to do its called development, Drodz could develop better or not develop at all who knows at this stage of his career. Riders all develop differently, look no further than Doyle.

My only concern over Cook would be if he has a season of struggle in the GP,s how that could affect his league form. We saw last season after a poor GP and World Cup how it could possibly have a negative effect. On the other hand I suppose a good GP season could have the opposite effect and his league form improves. If im being honest I think he will be out of his depth at GP level. Would love to be proved wrong though.
-
Not overly impressed if I'm being honest.
-
I see him as another promising Brit who will fail to hit the heights, there have been many promising riders who have not developed, his attitude could see him join that club.

Ive used the programme generator for a few seasons now, all you really need is the scoresheet, the rest you can read in the Star or online.

This weeks Speedway Star dec 23rd

Theres no doubt there were others who would also class themselves winners who were not included, its one persons opinion, its meant to be tongue in cheek so why anyone would get upset is beyond me, I take your point regarding the Isle of Wight though as they have done a fantastic job down there and full credit to them. Happy New Year. -

Bloody hell the winners and losers in the star is all light hearted, why do some appear to take it so seriously? Hence some appearing in both categories. -
Hyde Road managed to marry the two sports together very successfully, why not Lynn? Then the promoter gets the best of both worlds.
-
Dosent make sense not preparing a track for good racing, your business depends on it. Kings Lynn was always one of the very best race tracks in the country, hope its back to its best next season.

Tai Woffy filming on tv Dec 18th Clare Balding show
bellevueace replied to Badge's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I'm not a fan but he came across well and the race they showed highlighted the old chestnut first out of the start always wins not to be true, it was a great race and a good plug for our sport. Strange considering his criticisms of the GB set up especially the diet that he admitted to a weakness for burgers etc, hope he gets that someone to put the lock on his fridge:). England never have a hope of winning the World Cup or the European championship but I bet Frank Lampard never thought about not turning out for his country. Rather than walking away I think riding and changing things having an influence within the set up would be a better way for him to go.
