Lets hope so Steve would love to see the lad over here strikes me as there best recent talent since the great darcy ward.

Don't disagree at all 1 valve we all know you could add all of the below in just for starters Run on best nights for fans A decent tv deal for clubs not swallowed all up by number one's High profile premier league sponsor End of guest fests every week Decently prepared tracks Meetings starting on time Meetings not dragging on for 3-4 hours In a perfect world not staging meetings in stadiums that look like they have been bombed by the Luffwaffa Efforts really made to promote the team/awareness locally I know all of the above is easier said than done but if the powers that be want to save the sport the above are all reasonable starting points.
-
Agreed Ian it might be just be me but my mindset is who the hell wants to go out for the night on a Monday (maybe top level footy fixture aside) but other than that the mindset is first day back in the 9-5 grind where as Thurs-Sat you have that weekend coming/here feel good factor that motivates you to go out more.

A cunning plan indeed.

If they could get rid of Sedgmen for a better seven pointer they could be a useful side problem is I can't really think who to swap him out for.
-
Plus Gusts who should have been a trump card either under performed or was another who was missing half the time.
-
Do the big gun's take part in this or not ?
-
More than they did last year no doubt.
-
He's at three, Nicki Pederson at 1 getting ready for that first corner move then feet up for rest of the season
-
I thought it was Bastian Pederson that won the SGP3 not Villads ?

Its just the old heat 13 and 15 issue as no big hitter but if its a watered down league and the rest only have one big hitter they might get away with it.

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
YeOldPitGate replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Agreed White Knight I don't like putting boot into promoters as most must be losing money to different degrees every single year . You look at this year and think god help them if no tv deal, some top men leaving, whoever the lamb is at Northampton being served up to save the top league and seeming these people have no idea of business plan costs for Northampton already and looking to run at Oxford for the first year. I forsee a situation where they will most likely chuck it in after one year at Oxford and realise they are on a hiding to nothing and not bother with Northampton in 2027 and hopefully haven't bankrupted themselves in the process. We are probably beyond the point of saving now sadly its just gone to far certainly in the top league bar Harry somehow getting the arabs involved or he can talk Amazon into doing a program like "Clarkeson's speedway track" -
I wish them all the best but if its true "they didn't realise the cost" with everything looking stacked against it already that quote along makes me turn white. Then to race at another track under a different guise to the home team (other than Cradley at Wolves) I don't think has ever worked. I really hope they can make a go of it but I think you would need a team of a modern day John Berry as promotor, Russell Lanning heading promotions and Tolley to underwrite it all writing cheques out for 100k with a smile on his face.
-
Agreed certainly for home meetings Tungate would be a great signing for the aces.
-
If they could get Janowski motivated that would be a great side at home at least.
-
Fair point as you say if you could get them you would want all three for sure even given one will have to start at the difficult number two berth, I really rate Bailey and if the league is a bit weaker next year that will help and theres always the chance he could come in and have a Darcy Ward like first season.
-
I should really know this as was my peak interest years but flip side 41 years ago now jeez, Hans Nielson on the bike, Wiggy far right, Mel Taylor next to Wiggy, Nigel DeAth, Mervyn Cox, Alastair Stevens not sure on the final rider and can't remember the team manager although think it was Bernard Crapper who was promoter.
-
I can't see the logic in running a prem team at an existing club under a different name, it just strikes me as more desperation to get the numbers up in the top league, I just hope whoever is taking this on has uber deep pockets as sadly I fear they are going to need bucket loads of cash to burn, would love to be proved wrong and its a success.

Credit to Louis but it equally helps that he has a wealthy sponsor who's a massive speedway fan.

Speedway on tv. Who do we look to now?

I was trying to hold out a slim bit of hope White Knight. -

On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate the chances of any deal getting over the line Flagrag ? 1 being near zero -
Agm. What can we expect?
YeOldPitGate replied to Youhave2minutes's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Its difficult isn't it Mike I do feel bad putting the boot into promoters when you have the likes of Tolley doing six figures plus, but running on Mon,Tues or Wed you are on a hiding to nothing before you begin in my opinion, I keep harping on about it but Plymouth are showing what can be done when you run on a night that the public not the riders want. Appreciate the flip side is if you took this approach in the prem currently you might as well close down as half the riders wouldn't ride here but longer term I do think stripping back to riders committed to UK starting at Championship standard and trying to build back up is the way to go. At the current rate I can't see the top league lasting more than another 2-3 years particularly if no tv deals means weaker teams and higher prices , meeting same team 3-4 times at home per season rinse and repeat.
