I would agree if Poole and Glasgow don't go up I just hope a carrot hasn't been dangled in front of say Eastbourne given they struggled in championship last time going straight into the top league would be an unmitigated.

I would agree he looks the best US prospect for decades, I was brought up on King, Cook, Morans and Ermolenko would love it if the US could find another 4-5 as good as Brady to send over to the UK, the test matches in the mid 80's between the US and UK were great meetings.

Agreed and at some point future generations have to draw a line under it, the US dropped to nukes on Japan but the Japanese are now their closest allie.

The bigger issue is given Northampton was on the leftovers this year if two more teams come up and we can't get 5-7 other top liners back over what happens then ? this is also assuming Jack Holder recovers from what looks like a really bad injury if he doesn't then another top liner is needed to replace him also.

Plus from memory when Cradley were in the national league running at Wolves they were getting in excess of 2k per meeting, I totally get Pinny's point but if there's one track that could relaunch and get decent crowds my bet is Cradley would be it.

Any mileage if the right sight could be found central to them both running two teams from the same track Dean like Inter & AC Milan do in footy , appreciate finding a site is easier said than done.

I would say both to different degrees he said a few years back he wouldn't subsidise the stars to the levels he had previously , he thought Brady would be the man to hand the club off to but we know that didn't work out, equally I don't think he wants to see the club fold even if it made his life easier but he's not going to go all in on a knockout team in his late sixties and risk losing his retirement pot.

The side this season on paper looked decent , I hear what your saying about the club but Buster is getting on and has previously said he won't risk his retirement monies equally given the silence from the club it doesn't seem there's a que of people knocking on the door to take over from him either. Lynn are probably the Scunthorpe of the top league team built to a budget but given nobody seems to want to take the team on its probably either accept that or the team closes down.

Spot on for many its not their main business but as fans they are happy to subsidise a certain amount of annual losses and work on the basis of open the gates for home meetings and 90% of the die hards will turn up with near zero additional local promotion. This can continue to the point where the losses reach an unacceptable level and in most cases a new semi rich fan with deep pockets which haven't yet been emptied is required to come on board and rinse and repeat. Coleman is really saying all the right things really hope he succeeds as I think he is the final roll of the dice for the sport.

Does anyone know if the Oxford financial issue is now resolved as there were troubles in the last 12 months could the finances survive moving up again ? Bojangles you seem close to Oxford any view if your lurking ?

If Richard can turn the ship around one bit of positive news is there seems to be a glut of great young riders coming though I don't follow the poles much but they obviously have a conveyor belt of talent, the Danes have 6-7 really good young riders now, UK has Jody, Coops, Will, Luke and Ryan Ingram, US have Langdon the best US prospect in a decade , Aussies Bailey and Cooper Antone. I'm not sure if there's any decent young swedes currently but the above is 20 odd real top prospects before you throw in the poles probably having another ten good youngsters if any of them can be tempted to the UK in the future.

That's it Mike the Ford's are marmite but they have run a successful club for years and as you say the business model is built on winning which seems to still pull in decent crowds against lower quality opposition and people saying the track isn't brilliant. They also have a great network of contacts if they stay in the championship and points limit is lowered even if they lost Zach Cook they will probably end up with either Beau Bailey or Brady Langdon as a replacement two of the hottest talents in world speedway who should add a point - two points to starting average by end of year one. Langdon seems more of a trapper like his mentor Hancock where Bailey strikes me as the most exciting aussie on a bike since Darcy Ward, both should be exciting young riders who at some point will be in the GP series. It will require something to show there's a fairly bullet proof chance they won't bankrupt the club if they move up if the ducks don't align halfway through the top league 2027 season.

To be fair I get why the Ford's are cautious they have proven multiple times they can replicate what they have done at Championship level also in the premiership. They currently operate on roughly 30% lower operating costs and by all counts crowds are comparable to the top league days. If they did go back up to an eight team top league the speedway bosses need to somehow avoid a repeat of the Sky days where the number one's hoovered up all the extra cash with nothing left over to reinvest in the clubs. The risk is we tempt 5-7 top liners back over for 2027 who get paid huge wages crowds don't go up much and rather than eaking out a small profit your looking at a 50-100k loss for the season. I still think Richard is the best chance of saving the sport in years and he seems to have his eye on making the sport financially sustainable but I do get why the Ford's are uber cautious, equally if they came back up I don't doubt they would put a great side together.
