  1. So I'm supposed to forget what a complete ******** I think someone is just because they've got a union flag on their racejacket, whilst ignoring guys I support wholeheartedly every other week who happen to be wearing a blue and yellow cross on their racejacket? nope sorry I just don't GET it!!!!
  2. Do you think he'll get a congratulations card from Danny Bird and Sam Ermolenko?!
  3. This arguement comes up every year and my answer is always the same.......for some people it's country first, club second and for others it's club first country second. I fall firmly into the latter category! If I can't abide certain riders most of the year, why the hell should I cheer for them once or twice a year? Let's look at the evidence......... Richardson - Can't stand the bloke - gating tart with a nasty streak if he puts his mind to it Screen - I don't mind Joe but I was once told something about him from a very reliable source that left me with little respect for the guy! Norris - He's grown on me over the years but too many fights over the years still makes him a mmeber of my least favourite list! Loram - Exception to the rule - I've got a lot of time for Mark - even though he was pitiful at times when he rode for the Wolves. Nicholls - Coventry Rider - nuff said! Harris - See Nicholls! Stead - I used to really like Simon but fell he left us in the lurch a bit last year when we'd done our bit to keep his average low in 2004 - and he decided to opt for BV! Jonsson - Coventry Rider (see Nicholls/Harris) - also a bit of a winger! Lindgren - Wolves future number 1 - end of story! Lindback - I get a bit peed off with the amount of publicity he gets when Freddie is as good and younger! Still exciting to watch though! P Karlsson - Wolves CURRENT number one and all time hero only surpassed by Sam IMHO! Rickardsson - the greatest rider ever - and a long time favourite of mine! Alden - Totally ambivilent as I've not seen him ride that much! M Karlsson - Third in the dynasty and Wolves through and through..... So there we are! Out of the GB side, I would only really cheer for Loram whilst for Sweden there are 4 (and a half fo Lindback) riders I'd cheer for - three of whom are from MY club! Without resorting to the usual jingoistic drivel, can anyone convince me otherwise?!!!!
  4. Team GB had better hope it's AFTER the Swedish League starts - its probably the best chance they've got!!!!!!
  5. Interesting readingHenry but I'm sure, as always, the truth of the matter lies somewhere in between the two versions!
  6. Are you unwell Sandie? It's unlike you NOT to have an opinion!!!!!
  7. This is one area where you and I constantly agree ST! It's about time that in a situation where the MAJORITY of riders whant t o ride, then the meeting goes ahead! Those riders who are unwilling to ride should be fined heavily and given a yellow card. If it happens again, the the rider should be banned for 28 days. Hit them where it hurts - the pocket - that'll stop them maoning at the slightest bit of dirt!!!!! Oh and I'm sure we'll have the Coventry Fairies on in a while telling us all how Rory is a lovely lad and he's been injured and he wouldn't have been the ringleader and yadda yadda yadda..........
  8. AS superguest has said - the work done on the 3rd and 4th bend last year to build new dog kennels involved ripping up the old terracing. As Ladbrookes don't use that bit for the dog racing, they wouldn't pay to have it re-done so CVS would have ht cost. It would be a bit like paying for a garage to be built in your neighbours garden!!!!! With regards to the back straight - When the work was done in 1996 (hence why Wolves rode their home KOcup round at Long Eaton - ahhh what a night!!!!!! ) it involved changing the shape of the dog track so that it was much nearer to circular. This means that the dog track extends much further out on the back straight. If there was some way to stand on the back stright you would be too far away from the speeday track to see anything useful. Plus of course the issue of how to get ther as Col pointed out. Wolves fans are more aware than most of the limitations of our viewing area - however we accept there is very little that can be done to improve the situation as things stand at present!
  9. And this is the point.... Iversen is, a best, an EL 3rd heat leader/top second string! He's not much higher in the other leagues either. If I were to suggest Ales Dryml or Charlie Gjedde for a place, who'd agree? Yet both of these have higher averages than Iversen....not to forget Mr Andersen who's average is a point and a half higher than Iversen. If Iversen gets in the what about Kasprzak (half a point higher) or Bjerre (just 2 hundreths lower). Or how about Freddie Lindgren - his average may be lower than Iversen's but it's higher than Lindback! It IS very difficult to choose who but the inclusion of Iversen and Zagar is cynical at the least! As I said before the former is Ole's protege and the latter is the only halfway decent rider from an obsure eastern european country which happens to have a GP! The Iversen fan club can try to justify it all they like but there ARE better riders NOW (not in 2 years time!) who have missed out so that Ole's buddy can get a place!!!!
  10. Absolutley spot on Grachan! Hans has every right to feel aggrieved - he's been shafted big time, mainly so that Olsen's latest 'protege' Iversen can have a place! It really stinks. The powers that be muct think we all came down in the last shower! Let's look at the facts.... Richardson finished 13th - and was poor at best last year - but he gets a place by virute of the fact that he's British! Nicholls - see Richardson - except he was slightly better! Lindback gets a spot because - and let's be brutily honest here - the 'race' thing is a great selling point for BSI and the relevant sponsors Hampel - Probably deserves a place but being Polish certainly helped his cause! Pepe - See Hampel - except he probably DOESN'T deserve a spot! Iversen - In because Olsen says so! Zagar - In because he's Slovenian! With there being a Slovenia GP again next year, they need somehing to sell the tickets! Sorry but he may well be a good rider in the future but he's not even had the sphrerical objects to ride in the EL yet!!!! Also the BSI/Reading link is far to obvious to ignore! So there you have it - Hans is better than at least 6 of those riders if not more. Sadly he obviously got the floowing against him 1. Not British 2. Not Black 3. Not Polish 4. Not the only rider from some obscure Eastern European country which has a GP 5. Not best buddies with Ole/Jacob Olsen 6. Not riding for a BSI owned club in the EL. Sorry Hans but you've missed out this time due to good old fashioned nepotism!!!!
  11. Text message from the track says it looks like a rain off is a distinct possibility. Forcast looks poor... http://weather.msn.com/local.aspx?wealocations=wc:AUXX0029
  12. There will be live updates on the Wolfcry website at http://wolfcry.proboards14.com/index.cgi?a...read=1126899956 from 3pm British time on Saturday afternoon. News from the track is that conditions were hard and slick for the practice and Wolves' Fredrik Lindgren posted the fastest times. Lets hope for an excellent meeting tomorrow.
  13. Agreed - and who the hell is 'Scuddy' nicholls that he and Kelvin keep talKing about?
  14. Oh God, not the old 'why don't you do it if you can do better' arguement! We had this one earlier in the week on the Joonas Davidsson thread on the EL forum.....I suggest you have a read of that thread! http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=20298 Of course the British riders didn't go there to get beat - but the reality is that they weren't even in the same class as Poland - that's a FACT and no amount of flag waving and patriotic 'we will fight them on the beaches' claptrap will change that!
  15. You really are in fine form tonight Mr Hone!!!!!!
  16. Oh come on now - I could understand this silly bitterness if they'd only won by a couple of a points but they could have gone with Kasprzak instead of Holta and got 55 points easily!
  17. Spot on Steve! Can I start the 'Steve Hone for GB Team Manager' thread now?!!!!!
  18. Well said BWitcher!!!!! Also agree with Stevehone's post - the Poles have been AWESOME....especially Gollob! I think I'd sell my soul to have him ride in my team!!!!!!
  19. Shouldn't you be watching the footie - COME ON YOU WOLVES!!!!!
  20. Does that mean you're gonna knock me into the fence next time you see me then?!!!
  21. Just being my usual contraversial self......... Go PK and Freddie!!!!!
  22. No they didn't - speedway urban myth number 145!!!!!!
