Good luck to Bren. On home turf he has to have a good chance. We'll be there to cheer him on -
Poole Vs Newcastle.knock Out Cup Final,2nd Leg
rabbit replied to e,skidz's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
I'm assuming you just forgot the last sentence saying 'courtesy of the Poole forum'... Cracking performance by the Poole guys over the Newcastle team, which to be fair was pretty much Plymouth in another guise. Matt Bates beaten for the first time in all the Academy meetings he's ridden in which is some feat. I know I'm biased but Bren had a cracking ride in the last heat to hold off Rob Smith for all four laps. It looked as it he was going to be caught and passed at one stage, but he rode with a maturity beyond his years, and it's great to see how much he's improved riding for Oxford since June. Hard to believe in some races he's still only 15. Well done to all the team, and a big thanks to all who've ridden at Poole in the Academy this year. It's been great to watch. -
Final Gp, From Germany

Aha...thanks Ballinger -
Whilst I agree it was damned annoying can you imagine the outcry if the shoe were on the other foot and Sky were showing some live speedway and then cut away from the last couple of heats because the next live programme was due on? If anything it was shonky programming to put two live events on straight after each other, particularly when other Sky channels were showing magazine-type programmes from 6pm onwards, but I don't agree that speedway has a God-given right to cut across or be treated as more important than a live show already being broadcast. We've often caused other programmes following on to over-run so don't think fans can get too up in arms about Saturday, however much we were probably all screaming at the TV as time ticked on.

Random question here...we've had an eye on the Stadium webcam as they built the circuit and the pre/during and post-GP activity but notice they seem to now be building some sort of mini-circuit after dismantling most of the track. Anyone any idea what's going in there? It's here and a bit intriguing. -
So who are IYO

I feel for poor old Subedei...finally Nicholls has qualified by right, however controversially. No more 'beggar' quotes - will that title transfer to Bomber now?

Well done AJ...pleased for the guy and think he should be back in next year. Similarly Holta for riding through the pain barrier. Bad luck for poor old Barney in that semi - knew he wouldn't get lucky second time out but just pleased to see Hans get up from the crash. How he didn't break a collarbone is anyone's guess, but boy I reckon he'll ache tomorrow. -
Ref bottled it, either that or he wasn't watching. As for Nicholls, what a weasel. Love to be a fly on the wall at the conversation between the two straight after, although somehow I suspect Harris is too much of a gentleman - now if the shoe had been on the other foot... At least Harris should get a wild card for next year anyway.

How on earth do you lot remember all this cr@p? I can't even remember what I posted yesterday, let alone what some other random person posted a year ago... -
Bad Schumi

You could say the same about Bjarne
-
Think you have it spot on there Finchy, although I'm loathe to agree about Bjarne even though my head says you might be right, the Pirate part of me says no way José!! Really pleased for Lukas, he's been dealt a bum hand with injuries and persoanl circumstances in the last 3 years - it all started with that horrific crash in Slovenia. I hope he does well - to think he was leading the series for a while. Good luck to him. Edit: Think you'll see Lindgren handed a spot tbh
-
Should suit Bjarne coming from the Poole track then.
-
I must've missed these comments. Don't think I#ve ever thought Bjarne not interested...if anything his lack of performance in this year's series has been an enigma to him. It's nothing to do with not wanting to be there. Don't think he'd have bothered with the qualifiers in the first place if that was the case...

Felt tonight's GP was a bit like some films...started well, dipped in the middle and then picked up at the end. Gollob is still pure box-office. The move was madness and no-one else would have got away with it. Think Nicki's adrenaline kicked in with his immediate reaction but he was at least philosophical abouut it afterwards. KK did better than I thougt, even if it did mean my other half swearing at the TV all evening...he hates him. Nice touch for him to mention his contacts at Poole and also Lakeside. But what is up with Hancock? Surprised no-one's really mentioned this. Is it to do with a lack of British racing or is he just sliding down the tree?
-
I'd love to see Lukas back in there, but that's for purely aesthetic reasons Hope Bjarne does enough to stay in...hes quality but strangely off the boil in GPs this year, he is better than that. Think Lindgren will be in anyway as part of the FIM/IMG newbie strategy. The rest...who cares.

I know I shouldn't click on this thread, my head is screaming 'no, don't do it', but every time I do. It's like the angel on one shoulder, the devil on the other, a verbal ping-pong.... The result every time is 'Arrrgghhhhhhhhh'.....to the main protagonists on both sides of the fence.

Weymouth Round Under 15's
rabbit replied to wildcat wizard's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Big, big congratulations to Brendan Had the text through to say he'd won it - perfect performance from him this evening and well deserved! Typical...knew we shouldn't have changed our plans after initially deciding to go. Grrrr... -
Saving himself for tomorrow night

Far too sensible a suggestion Rebecca. The Scotty debate has been going on on here for yonks even before the latest protagonists on this thread were on the forum, and I can't see it stopping until 1) he wins a GP or 2) he retires. Makes for amusing reading in a sad voyeuristic kind of way.
