  1. I don't get all the angsting here about the Cook's. Both have had the odd bad match, but they are clearly still improving and have turned in Premiership performances that show how good they could be. With Brennan and Hagon out performing expectation I don't think Poole have much to worry about and they can afford to carry Perry (or replacement should they drop him). Add in the fact that all the teams tipped as their main rivals (Glasgow, Oxford, Redcar) are under performing, I'd feel very positive at the moment if I was a Poole supporter.
  2. I went straight to chat CPT: You write me a poem about the speedway grand prix ChatGPT ChatGPT In the heart of the city, beneath the blazing sun, The Speedway Grand Prix roars, the race has just begun. Engines growl and thunder, the air is thick with sound, The crowd is on its feet, adrenaline all around. From the pits they emerge, these warriors of the track, With fire in their eyes and their engines at their back. Each racer in their colors, each bike a flash of chrome, Ready to meet the challenge, no matter what's to come. The starting gates are open, the crowd holds its breath, The light turns from red to green, signaling life or death. The riders twist the throttle, the bikes leap into flight, Tires gripping hard as they veer into the night. Dust and dirt are flying, the smell of fuel is raw, These riders dance with danger, they flirt with every flaw. Around the bends they rocket, no room for doubt or fear, They push the limits always, the victory drawing near. Through the roaring corners, the steel and speed collide, The skill of each contender is tested as they slide. The balance and the timing, the nerve and the control, To master all these forces takes courage and a soul. Each lap is like a lifetime, each second like a day, The race is unforgiving, it never goes halfway. But some will claim the podium, their flags raised in the air, Their hearts beating with glory, their voices filled with flair. Yet beyond the flash and glamour, the speed and all the cheers, The Speedway Grand Prix is where blood and sweat and tears Mix together in a ritual, a test of skill and might, Where riders become legends, where engines meet the night. So here's to all the racers, to the brave and to the bold, To those who live for racing, whose stories will be told. May you ride forever, your spirits strong and free, As long as there are engines, there'll be a Grand Prix. 3. 10.2.1: Any rider returning to British Speedway on an established MA, achieved prior to 2022 will establish an updated MA after completing 6 applicable meetings. Riders new to British Speedway will establish an updated MA after completing 6 applicable meetings. in bold - so amended this year. So changes must be made today. I have heard hints there might be changes, but have no idea what they might be. ... so waiting with baited breath
  4. Let me break this to you gently: It has been a regular occurance for over 50 years. And is explicitly dealt with in the regulations
  5. I don't think there is enough space to fit 'called off because promoter has the emotional maturity of a six year old' on the fixture list. PS second semi final of eurovision tonight - maybe that's the real reason it's off.
  6. No they wouldn't because that would have been: Illegal Against the rules Forbidden Cheating Come back when you've read the rules or grown up.
  7. Usually when hearings are delayed it is at the request of the appellant (to allow them more tome to prepare case, availability of witnesses, legal representation etc).
  8. I had a look at Sportowefakty and they published this date on 25 JANUARY. That's 14, yes FOURTEEN weeks. If this was such a problem for King's Lynn why didn't Buster do something about it in February, or March, or even April?
  9. That depends on whether it is: a sport with rules designed (as far as possible) to ensure parity of opportunity between the teams or a circus style entertainment run for the benefit of the promoter
  10. 'Tears & Glory' page 155: "the 1992 King’s Lynn v Reading match was postponed unilaterally by promoter Buster Chapman on August 22. (The Stars would have taken to the track without their top two, Henka Gustafsson and Mark Loram.) A month later the SCB awarded the match 75-0 to Reading, causing much outrage amongst their title rivals. " That's p155 as in 'taking the p155'.
  11. Good to see Austria represented ... by Andrew Appleton
  12. Why not? The reason for this call-off relates wholly to team strengths which can apply equally to the away team.
  13. Yup Violet Elizabeth Chapman will "thcream and thcream and thcream" until the BSPL roll over and give him what he wants.
  14. The real outrage is that this seems to be the prerogative of the home team. Visitors are frequently two riders short and nobody bats an eyelid. I imagine Buster will end up running twice a week with 3+ guests in early September in order to fit fixtures in as he'll probably cancel every week now on the basis that Ben Basso's a mechanic down or the start Marshall is ill.
  15. Absolutely. My recollection is that he'd been dropped by Sheffield (who were bottom of the league) for not being good enough.
  16. Or to look at it another way at least I saved £80 to actually travel there
  17. Musielak got 27+2 in his last two completed fixtures so I think that's a bit harsh. I always thought the key was how well the ex-Panthers adapted to Saddlebow rd, which makes Wojdylo's last performance an encouraging sign for them, but they are still badly short of top end support for Tobias.
  18. Plenty of current(ish) Americans with unusual names Tuff McBride Redmond Bohannon Jamison Dilkey Broc Nicol Slater Lightcap Elloy Meddelin Rheton Todd Then I doubt if there are many Celina, Sabrina, Maja, Patricia, Tegan, Hannah, Sara, Rachelle, Nanna, Jessica, Taya, Charlene or Katie's either
  19. By any chance was his day 2 May 2024?
  20. And worse still: last night we were cheering when a Spires heat leader got beat. And on Monday we'll be hoping Cheetahs no 1 Sam Masters has a poor night.
  21. Matches dropping out are 13 July and 27 July - 25 points scored http://www.gbspeedway.com/2021/riderperf.php?mc1=s&mc2=rc&mc3=av&mc4=x&rider=Paul Starke&league=B&sort=date&comp=CMA&club=Kent Kings
  22. So far: Prem: Spires drawing decent crowds Champ: well down but hopefully will pick up for league matches NDL: bigger crowd for Chargers v Edin. Academy than Birmingham v Belle Vue - looks like Sunday afternoon is popular
  23. Lahti (14) wins again for second year in a row. Jakobsen (12) second on countback from Riss. Kowalski and Brennan in run-off for last spot in the final. EDIT: and it goes to Kowalski
  24. Flint, Bickley, Gilkes, Rowe, Kemp, Palin and the Thompson twins were supposed to be the golden generation. While some of them are making decent progress they haven't hit the stratospheric heights many of us hoped. And looking at subsequent riders coming up through the youth system none (bar Ashton Boughen) look better prospects than the ones named above.
