  1. So France have joined ranks of countries that are too big to put their best riders in. No Bellego, Berge or Uncle Matt.
  2. A competition with the format of regional mini leagues followed by a final (and usually semi-finals) has been held in the second tier every year since 1997 with the exception of 2003, 2011,2017, 2020, 2021. The first three due to longer league programmes, the last two covid. The competition is on its sixth name: Knock-out Cup (despite most of the fixtures involving no-one being knocked out) National Trophy Premier Trophy League Cup Championship Shield and now Jubilee League
  3. If using a simple conversion factor it should be in the region of 1.25-1.3. However the relationship is not strictly proportionate (witness all the low average rider at the top of the table) so a linear regression would be better modelling. (I have done this before. I think the answer would come out as something like: Prem av = 0.9 Champ av - 2) Edit: just done regression on 2021 stats: formula is: 0.824 Champ Av - 0.32 = Prem Av
  4. 2021 - very few heats 13 & 15 (and a ride against reserves in heats 8,12 or 14) 2022 - heats 13 and 15 in every match (and no easy heats 8,12 or 14) Makes a difference
  5. It's a shared event so it may be the BSPL who are [not] selling tickets. It would be nice to know.
  6. I've now had an e-mail from the ticket agents which loosely translated says "we don't know what's happening. We'll let you know when we do" (it also links to the media release I posted on here earlier from the Esjberg site)
  7. Its full name is the "We need some more fixtures that we can pretend are meaningful Trophy"
  8. Last season there were actually two riders with HIGHER Premiership averages than Championship (Toft and Rowe I think)
  9. https://esbjergmotorsport.com/pressemeddelelse-internationalt-speedway-event-i-esbjerg-maa-aflyses/?fbclid=IwAR2BR1cIsyJ2vUc2GTxmgVLIqS5dYUT0ZwLtFEaxTYwdjt1UUIhIS8H6L7c So it sounds like: 1 ticket sales were poor 2 Somebody wants to cut their losses 3 Somebody may have done a runner with the money 4 Esberg MSS couldn't run a piss-up in a brewery 5 FIM tendering process and oversight may be found wanting 6 Discovery TV may well wish to wash their hands of the sport 7 I'm still thoroughly pissed off
  10. But it never ceases to amaze me how many team managers make really basic errors. For example last Saturday Peter Schroek tried to give Aaran Butcher an illegal ride in heat 8. (for the Chargers at Leicester)
  11. Surely all he did was not ride in an unofficial challenge match at Glasgow. He hasn't missed any team fixtures in the last 7 days.
  12. Having organised flights and accommodation, and decided on this particular foreign trip because Esbjerg is a track I have never been to I am INCANDESCENT WITH RAGE.
  13. That is exactly the one I was thinking of. Witches v Reading in 2007?
  14. He's good, but I'm not sure he's that good. Presumably cup and play-off matches don't count so that gives you some scope.
  15. Often the main noise complaints are about loudspeakers. And often noise on leaving the stadium may be an issue. On both of these whether it is dogs or bikes is not the issue. In fact I know of one track where there is a curfew on the loudspeakers, BUT NOT the racing.
  16. Don't think Leicester are obliged to take up a facility. If they went the 'no facility' route they would have to track a 2.00 Ave unattached rider, like .., er Connor Coles However in this situation no sane and reasonable person would expect anything other than r/r.
  17. One of the problems with the reduction in no. of matches on which GSAs are based. All things being equal a team whose GSAs are based on 7 home and 3 away is likely to have a higher combined total than one with 3 home and 7 away. Over 20 matches that was far less of an issue.
  18. And a Jubilee Trophy final on 31 October won't look as strange as a Summer Trophy final
  19. That's what I thought until 10 minutes ago https://britishspeedway.co.uk/2022-championship-jubilee-league/
  20. Starts tomorrow, but when did it change from being the Summer Trophy?
  21. I'd also recommend http://www.gbspeedway.com/2022/yearindex.php?mc1=x&mc2=x&mc3=x&mc4=x
