UK speedway slowly dying
arnieg replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
11-16 August ... high summer. Six days and in the entire UK, just 5 meetings, one of which was postponed. -
Agreed. The problem is that it is the same three teams most of the time so Leics, Glasgow and Poole will see plenty of action and if the weather turns fixture congestion, but the likes of Birmingham, Berwick and (unless they scrape 6th for a play- off place) Scunthorpe are almost over.

Oxford v Edinburgh 17 August 2022 Championship
arnieg replied to eide67's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Problem is we are looking at potentially heavy thundery showers which tend to pop up out of nowhere, are very localised and don't show up well on rainfall radar. So it is a real lottery. -

So Artem is Polish, but is considering applying for Polish Citizenship. Two mutually exclusive states. -
Aggregate BP making a return from 2023?

Of course we (collectively) voted for the current govt and none of us EVER moan about them! -
Aggregate BP making a return from 2023?
arnieg replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Ultimately the system will make little difference to the overall league table, so really the question is what system retains most interest? And although I was originally doubtful about it, I think that has proven to be the home: 3-2-1-0, away 0-1-2-3-4 format. What I really despair at is the possibility we could have three leagues each with a different scoring system next season. -
Well he's currently in top 6, but even if he drops out a series wildcard must be a very very high probability. And failing that the organisers would be mad not to give him the local wildcard.

Ed Kennett and Justin Elkins it is then.

For all of us I'd say.

Start of 1975. Davis had been allocated to Reading, and Oxford had AN Other in their line up as putative replacement for Davis, for whom they could use a guest - and they chose Davis!

All he had to do in the final was beat Madsen and extend his lead even further. Could have it won with two GPs to spare. How we miss the Russians.

Can we go back to Oxford for SGP2 tomorrow?

Birmingham v Coventry Select Wed 17th Aug

Are 't all speedway meetings fundamentally pointless? -
I don't care whether it is Ellis, Miskowiak or Brennan but I'd rather have a proper competitor taking five rides than a rider taking the piss, pulling out after half a lap and leaving us with reserves.

A fit Cook is better than Kerr... Definitely makes you weaker imo But an unfit Cook or unreliable r/r is surely another matter

Championship Pairs, Oxford.. Friday, 12th. August

But wouldn't he come in on an average of over 11. (See rules set out in 10.2.1). You use most recent established MA, which is 2019 Prem (times 1.5) and NOT 2018 CL average. That would surely be prohibitive. -
Not sure that one page in a month largely devoted to Batchelor's inconsistency really constitutes "lots of negativity" Rob. And Batchelor has been ... err ... inconsistent. What has struck me is that pretty much every meeting I've come away thinking that was a good meeting (and in a couple of cases great) something I can't say about most of the tracks I've attended regularly.

Poole v Plymouth Jubilee trophy 10th August
arnieg replied to Arthur54's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Then given it is a major development site I suggest establishing what positions the three main Parties are taking on it. -
I think the get out is the phrase "other than for injury". Allen was injured when replaced by Sedgmen (change 2) so only changes 1 & 3 count.

What is he planning to watch? -
When JK signed for Berwick they had 9 matches (that count) left. But Jonas would have been absent for two of them (last night and clash with Wroclaw GP2) so barring rearrangements would never have ridden 8 matches.
