Championship Pairs, Oxford.. Friday, 12th. August
arnieg replied to Ovalman's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If the only determining factor in choosing wildcards was position in the qualifying round you would simply have top 5 instead of top 4 qualifying. So other factors DO matter, and in that respect Brennan was unlucky. Salonen and Basso were good picks, but picking a second Swede (Grahn) over Brennan looks even more of an odd choice after SON2. -
There are 3 Berwick riders with a bigger home/away differential: Etheridge, Flint and Pijper.
-
And we've both overlooked SoN for Gusts last year.
-
Of more interest will be the rare opportunity to see the likes of Gusts, Salonen, Kvech and the young Poles who will be making rare UK appearances (can't recall any of them over here before, but something may have escaped my notice.)

Probably true

Still only one away win so far.

Doubt it. Has never been the case before and anyway 30 riders in the pits would be a tight squeeze. -
So now that the group matches are done what are the views on crowd levels. Historically secondary competitions have often proved unattractive and delivered poor crowds. I get the Impression that they've been pretty decent. Thoughts?

Er Yes he already has, as recently as 24 July when he beat them BOTH -
So who would you have chosen as guests then? Thompson and Blair not good enough for you?

Michael Fish's forecast was provided by the Met Office. It is only recently the BBC decided to start doing it on the cheap and go elsewhere. -

Don't they need two (I.e. a draw)? -
Why should his estate benefit? I'll happily give money to a benefit for a permanently injured rider, or one who passed away while riding. But Grahame's passing was 20 years after being active in speedway and at an age when I assume* he had no dependents. * If he had surviving children who were still minors that would change the situation entirely and I would be happy to see money raised go to them.

British Final 2022
arnieg replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Ellis was and still is 2021 British Champion. As regards the rules for the 2022 British championship there were only two options within the rules: 1] declare a result using countback regulations, or 2] abandon without a result with the intention to rerun at a later date It appears nobody was happy with option A which would have meant drawing of lots. The choice of Cardiff wildcard is a separate matter and the SCB made a pragmatic and reasonable decision in picking Ellis. PS No lots were involved in 1977 European Junior Championship. Scores after 12 heats: Busk 9, Owen 8, Collins 7. 2005 on the other hand.... -
Oxford Vs Poole Jubilee Cup &Return 2nd-3rd August

One of the few failings of the Oxford relaunch is the complete lack of merchandise. Four months in and not so much as a bleedin' biro available to those who wish to show their support for the club. -
British Final 2022

Last night a new British Champion was crowned - I say give him the wildcard. Step forward Jason Edwards, 2022 NORA British Champion on the Isle of Wight last night. -

If you use all 2022 Prem level meetings (exc bonus pts) Ellis is second to Harris. (Followed by St Worrall, Ch Wright and King) -

Should relocate the meeting to Vojens, they have expertise in staging prestige meetings in front of small crowds at short notice. -
