KOC Sat 4 June - Glasgow v Edinburgh
arnieg replied to Endeavour's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
About 15 years ago promoters were effectively demanding top riders choose between the UK and other leagues (e.g. insisting no guest or r/r for riders engaged abroad in meetings other than FIM events or National championships). And guess what they chose? -

£24/25 is typical, and I've seen as high as £28 for CL/NL dble headers at various tracks -

Because it involves only one off night meeting instead of two and for the away fans/management saves on travelling costs. -
I've got a few of those.

Which is exactly the figure I took!
-
Sounds completely OTT. Bt even if we assume it's half that then £400 x 10 pts per meeting (from 5 rides should be achievable for a rider of Matej's calibre) x 20 meetings (ignoring Summer doodah and play-offs) x 50%: gives: £40,000 That would be one he'll of a sponsorship

Er wouldn't that constitute a team change, which is supposedly against the rules (unless you are Ipswich) Whereas Jenkins is simply the Panthers using their already declared no 8
-
The rule (as written) is not entirely clear. BUT It refers to 'initial declaration' which is not one of the options you give as there may be months between announcement of a proposed team and its acceptance by the BSPL which is the point at which an initially declared team comes into existence. As an alternative one could posit that the publication of the first set of green sheets [25 March this season] marks the point at which teams come into existence. As I've said before the extent of the debate on this rule illustrates what a stupid idea it was in the first place.

Favourite isn't the most appropriate word, but the piece of memorabilia that means the most to me is the Order of Service from Denny Pyeatt's Memorial at Christ Church on Christchurch Road Reading.

Edinburgh - new home required….

Like Lakeside and Peterborough we've all known that it would be a matter of when not if these stadiums would fall to redevelopment. On the plus side Edinburgh have one of the most stable promotions going and have I believe been actively searching for a new home. The Monarchs have a dedicated following, I hope there is some good news for them soon. -
Redcar Bears vs. Edinburgh Monarchs 22/5/22 5 p.m
arnieg replied to Gringo's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
So if a rider damages his machinery but remains fit is he 'unable to take part'? I could argue it either way, it seems totally open to being interpreted both ways. -
Redcar once named a team consisting of 6 guests and r/r for a fixture at Sheffield in 2017. Luckily for the sport's credibility it was rained off. When restaged Redcar only tracked 5 guests (+ r/r and Jonas B Anderson)

It did happen occasionally, Damien Drozdz at Belle Vue for example. One of the benefits (from the Poles point of view) is that the u24 league gives 22/23 year olds not established in senior teams racing opportunities.

http://www.speedwayplus.com/2019Rankings5.shtml for the 2019 figures, as you will see pre covid UK based riders dominated. For 2021 (note: the fractions come from 5 and 6 rider races counted as 1.33/1.67 rides, some minor competitions are excluded so figures are not 100% complete) It is noticeable that while UK riders still feature heavily in this table they are less dominant than pre covid/brexit times. rides 1 Ryan Douglas Australia 337.67 2 Sam Masters Australia 329 3 Chris Harris Gt Britain 310 4 Timo Lahti Finland 308.67 5 Bjarne Pedersen Denmark 295 6 Luke Becker USA 294.33 7 Adam Ellis Gt Britain 293.67 8 Jason Doyle Australia 285.67 9 Dan Bewley Gt Britain 283.67 10 Maciej Janowski Poland 278 11 Andrzej Lebedevs Latvia 270 12 Kai Huckenbeck Germany 264 13 Steven Worrall Gt Britain 263 14 Broc Nicol USA 263 15 Wiktor Lampart Poland 258 16 Leon Flint Gt Britain 256.33 17 Rasmus Jensen Denmark 256 18 Max Fricke Australia 255.67 19 Danny King Gt Britain 255 20 Nick Morris Australia 254.67

Birmingham v Oxford Wed 18th May
arnieg replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not just rain but persistent rain for 4 hours. Accuweather thinks it might be a bit later so if they are right you might get 10 heats in. But the other main sites suggest a very poor outlook.
