  1. Fair point but only problem is that these days his starting is indifferent and he finds himself chasing more often than not. That was great in 2006 when a fast barnstorning Andersen would cut through an intimidated opposition with ease at the EoES (y'know, I'm a GP star coming through and that's the safety fence, would you care to throttle off or fall off ) but these days he is not particularly fast or intimidating. I did watch speedway at the EoES in 2020 when it was on (each week, I do indeed remember those days ) and as Andersen's confidence grew he seemed to think that he was the 2006 vintage and looked like an accident waiting to happen, as indeed it did. He's still just about worth a punt but hopefully Johnson has a plan b when Andersen is absent in 2020.
  2. When I went to watch Posh at The Dell the Soton fans were singing dirty northern b******* - it made me chuckle as I'd never though of myself as a northerner
  3. As a full life local I can say that 15 year man is spot on though - One said: 'I lived in Peterborough for 15 years and all I can say is wow. what a f*****g DUMP' - it doesn't need a big sample to confirm that point tbh.
  4. That's lucky Rodders. You'd have missed that exciting news about there being some news this week
  5. With a readily available list of reliable volunteers. Those days are gone.
  6. Track record weekly and it was crap. The times slowed considerably for a few meetings and the racing was decent and gave a poor side at least half a chance on their own circuit. Fans could see it but the bosses usually turned out a gate and go job although with a Panthers team that usually hit turn two in third and 4th place anyway they were not going to cut the mustard on any circuit tbh.
  7. Think you've got hans fan mixed up with the resident looney.
  8. It's called making up the numbers in a generally rudderless ship while living in a social media world where they have to talk up everything, often despite the reality of the situation that all but the happy clappers see. I never watch the interviews as I prefer my own opinion based on watching the action or reading club and fan reports.
  9. Victory laps by the opposition do get a little tiring though and they also do little to improve the already non existent atmosphere at the EoES.
  10. Well someone will have the no1 jacket because there has to be one but it's just a mix of were once but never will be again, along with the never will be anyway and the usual wouldn't put any money of any of them to win a race that mattered.
  11. Panthers in the brown stuff in the big heats, if they are still in the contest at that point, but less stewards needed as they can close of half the stand
  12. How inconsiderate. Panthers have their big first signing on Friday and they'll already be firefighting if that's the case.
  13. Doesn't matter either way. The days of enough people giving a fig are long gone and unlikely to return. It's a question of scale and expectaion I guess and neither are particularly high so it is what it is.
  14. When you're seemingly making up the numbers, rudderless with an indeterminate shelf life then it's 3 with a hint of 4.
  15. Under normal circumstances much of that isn't known when STs are offered anyway but most fans have confidence that management will put out a decent side and it will come on the back of an ok season. Not sure that the first applies and it's coming on the back of season so bad that many will not have experienced anything like it.
  16. Convenience, free parking and programme for those who'll go irrespective of the state of our sport these days at the EoES. I take the point though and justification for the hard core to take up the offer these days must be difficult.
  17. Would it? Talk is cheap and always has been. At this stage of his career he'll go where the money and opportunity is. I'm sure that last year taught him that this isn't the Horton or Frost Panthers that provided both with him in the past. The mentalist is probably just being the idiot that he is but nothing would surprise me (apart from Panthers signing a top liner) at the EoES these days.
  18. Good to see that fixed race nights have done the trick by upping the quality, profile and returning of some of the top liners!
  19. It's all sounding really positive: making up the numbers with an indeterminate shelf life, a perceived small budget and it's unclear who does what? Hopefully it all becomes clearer in the coming weeks and there is a more positive outlook, as long as we don't ask Godfrey for advice of course!
  20. Although some bad decisions led us to our current destination so I wouldn't totally agree with that terminology.
  21. Tungate has said similar as you'd expect them all to do but the real situation, irrespective of what they say now, is: “I’m open to offers about racing in England in 2020 but I guess we are all waiting for the conference when they will determine the points limit and new rules.”
  22. And they would say: " Those were the days. Right, let's crack on! ".
