  1. Just the PL version of stevebrum. Losing brum is the only benefit of a PL thread but then pops up his understudy.
  2. I'm sure that his manager will post something to clarify the situation and explain where it went wrong.
  3. Hopefully he's nicked the roving mic as a souvenir.
  4. Owning the place is a big plus and makes a lot of difference. Take what you have, enjoy it and be careful what you wish or you could be that visiting team before you know it
  5. Speedway's a Vanarama product with similar crowd levels though. Until that finance and hard work is put into the overall product nationally then locally it'll soon wear thin with those currently putting the money and effort in. Looking at the Glasgow website I thought that it looked very much like the start of the RF era at Peterborough. Facebook, Twitter, Tiger's TV, online shop, Red Alert news updates and even an App thingy. It all sounds very familiar.
  6. I'm sure that they think like that anyway but stadium/rider availabity must make it rather difficult these days. Not impossible but plenty of variables to put a spanner in the works. Do ice hockey players play for anyone else (either inside or outside of the UK) and all live in this country.
  7. Not even a big team in the PL these days Given our recent history (well 10 years +) that's not a good place to be.
  8. Which isn't a fault of Rathbone because it's been as and when speedway for over a decade now (and often none during the best part of the season) which is why Panthers at the EoES need a sugar daddy. Those who say that they wouldn't want Frost & Mahoney back (and I understand that Bratters suggested that they needed to move out when they first arrived?) need to wake up. With speedway in a mess then F&M will not return. Budget and community speedway at the EoES no longer mix IMO, despite the EoES allegedly wanting us there (under their terms it would appear and with little understanding of our busines). Now that the honeymoon is over after the winter of 2014, is this a crisis or just a blip? Time will tell. Interesting Glasgow thread with a few comments on the cost of their speedway now as they try to up the product, with a Panthers fan happy to pay £22.50 for their top 4 (tongue in cheek I assume) . Panthers fans moaned about £17.50 in the EL so we need to bottle his enthusiasm
  9. Have you actually looked at the fixture list.
  10. Steady on Stilts has got in on the act now though, so we can draw a line under this. He's never one to get controversial so retirement must be turning him into Victor Meldrew. End of topic it is then
  11. Each to their own and it also meets the approval of the northern oracle (of, I have a lot of respect for Rick but speedway was just not for him fame) so a double negative
  12. After promising the fans great times and apparently "He particularly enjoys new challenges and innovations to solve problems or improve efficiencies", I'd say that dumping us in the PL, also back under Horton where we knew how it would end, nearly closing us a couple of times before camping in Dorset isn't much to be proud of. In fact on Nov 19 we were still "Readypower Panthers"
  13. But before that ill-judged scenario arose, Poole still didn't muck around which is the point. When Frost was at Peterborough giving the benefit of the doubt to under-performing riders it was often pointed out that success would only come if he followed the Poole model. It never came because he never did.
  14. It probably was but they couldn't get who they wanted and/or wouldn't pay what they considered silly money when running on a tight budget. It's a fine line between good decision and false economy.
  15. Panthers away in days gone by I'd agree but not these days. We turned up confident and it was just a question of how many. We've been arguing for years against our massive home advantage (irrespective of track preparation) on the basis that the track is fair for all and everyone can ride it, but that always fell on deaf ears. Now all of a sudden we don't have any home track advantage and everyone visiting is comfortable riding the place - funny old world innit
  16. I'll leave hansfan to comment on the value of those away wins. I don't think that he'd agree and I'm no student of such things these days. Don't agree with the second part. You just need riders who can ride the place (and are happy to do so), have a track record of regularly consistent trapping (which would have excluded MPT for starters) and tell them that a consistent level of shale on track is part of the deal. Don't see why that costs an absurd amount.
  17. Ironic that you mention Klindt as he was the 2013 stick with him and he'll come good signing until Sullivan arrived and he wasn't quite as patient. PETERBOROUGH have swooped to sign Danish International Nicolai Klindt as they look to get their troubled season back-on-track.
  18. Yup, that's the attitude that means that our last trophy was in 2006. The old stick with it they'll come good Tetley philosophy. Successive home defeats with few race winners is a heck of a blip in April. Paying decent away scores on the back of diminishing home crowds who like to see their riders and team win at home would suggest that the delivery of a new rider or two is equally important as the delivery of new shale.
  19. That sort of backs up his argument in that Perry just gets on with it at this early stage in his career whereas the older heads know what they want but if it doesn't suit then they start with a handicap before the tapes rise (although seen a quote saying that the riders wanted it slick - which isn't good if you're trying to attract supporters). Just prepare the track well and those who don't want it like that or genuinely can't ride it can find a new track?
