Pole deliberately fell into him, conned the ref, equivalent to a dive in football -

Awful, 2 heats gone and it looks like a foregone conclusion -

Well done to Berwick, made Workington look like the away team for much of the time. And what an anti climax to the meeting for the supporters, if I'd known Workington were putting a reserve out to get battered against Kemp and Kildemand I wouldn't have hung around in the pouring rain. -

Would bet on PK to get a maximum today (if we don't get rained off). Workington don't look to have anyone capable of beating him. Or Kemp or Jeppesen for that matter. -

It's gone 3:15pm, heavy rain incoming and we still aren't underway. Don't know what the delay is as the P.A. system is unintelligible -
Heat 14 should've been red light

Maybe just as well, Comets dire

Yes, same for me

Seems a bit hasty, looking at the radar there's hardly enough rain incoming in the next few hours to dampen the ground. -

Derwent Park was within walkable distance for a lot of people living in town, not the case with Northside where most will now be driving to get there, so I don't think a bar would be top priority. -

Only just, not a very entertaining meeting by Workington standards as far as passing goes. -

Track very slick again, gating at a premium again and Comets being found out again -

Nice to see, presumably the club must've requested a quick detour for a mini-flypast as the smoke was switched on for the short time over the stadium. -

Definitely hasn't been as much dirt on this season compared to last, presumably at the request of the riders, and what there is is quite dry on days like today despite the watering which makes good gating paramount. -

Saw a photo of the track before the meeting, looked like the Somme so I didn't bother wasting my money. -
Workington v Poole Sat 12th July 6pm start

I usually stand at bend 1 but didn't fancy being cooked yesterday so also stood in the shade at bend 3, probably a few others had the same idea by the looks of it. I was expecting a better attendance but I daresay a few people with or without families would have already have decided to take advantage of the rare warm weather and took day trips to the coast, lakes etc or were just sitting out with drinks in their garden. Let's see if this winning result against Poole encourages a few more next time. -
Workington v Poole Sat 12th July 6pm start

Ok, eating humble pie today. From what I witnessed yesterday, Poole are now a bang-average team and no longer the bogey team that everybody used to fear. The loss of Tom Brennan and Ben Cook obviously being the big leveller, Lawson carried the bulk of the work yesterday with not much back up. A good, solid, all-round performance from what I would have thought would have been a ring-rusty Comets, good to see Tate Zische getting back to where he was last season, also Frazer Bowes has improved noticeably from earlier on in the season. -

Still no explanation what for though

As others have said, interest has unfortunately dropped off this season as there's been lack of continuity due to a combination of rain offs and not enough teams in the league to sustain weekly fixtures, don't think Saturday afternoons and cost have much to do with it as plenty people seem to be able to put time and money aside to go to football/rugby, there's definitely a lack of reporting in local papers and TV compared to when the speedway was at Derwent Park, and maybe the location has something to do with it being 'out of the way'?

Rain starting just before Plymouth meeting will definitely have put a few off
