  1. Steady on HT speedway is only a minority sport & didn't Tai come close in winning that award in 2015(now I will have to do a search). I think SPOTY should be renamed anyway as how many "Personality Sports People" win it. I think they should rename it SWOTY Sports Winner Of The Year. NOW he might stand a chance. Go on Tai and show Great Britain in 13 days time that you ARE Great Britain's Best Ever speedway rider.
  2. Rob being too loyal again is the case as Danny's home form has been abysmal. Checking through my programmes, the last time Danny beat an opposition rider was 22nd July v Glasgow when he beat Sarjeant in heat 2. The time before that was 22nd June v Lakeside when he beat Morley in heat 12. Both meetings well before the transfer deadline but I, & many others were figuring out who to replace him with. Sheffield tried with Lawlor, who was later replaced but there were a few others named back then that we could have tried.
  3. ".............equally as poor is the team manager whose decisions over this year and other years are pretty baffling like giving Phillips the R/R ride in heat 1 everytime " I have mentioned many times the need for naming a no8 when using r/r & even more so when reserves are struggling. When another rider gets injured in a meeting it compounds it even more.
  4. True, but there were other options similar to what Shuttleworth did at Workington &, recently, Mark Riss at Ipswich(which also includes his racing for Belle Vue. He could have stepped down blaming the injuries of last year with it affecting his racing & confidence when mixing it in the first 2 bends & when, & not very often, trying to overtake when other riders are having poor meetings. You can even see our other riders are trying a little too hard to make up for riders that are struggling to score since coming back from injuries. Manzares, pre Nations Cup had reached 5.8 but is now down at 3.8 & even Nielsen has joined them going from 7.1 to about 5.7.
  5. The first 4 GP's were on 12/5, 26/5, 30/6 & 7/7 within the timescale MANSE mentioned. Craig Cook does not ride for you but rides for Glasgow & how many of your fans follow his progress? In todays technology times there are such things called "record buttons" or "catch up tv" & even repeats.
  6. I think it is more a case of some promotions not having the forward thinking in trying to bring meetings forward & use the excuse that the fixtures were set in stone when agreed pre-season. They then blame the BSPA(a committee of 5) for agreeing to 1 promoters desire to go back to the decisions made at the AGM to only hold 3 CL meetings on race days as guests were hard to find as in our case missing our no1 from the 1st meeting of our season for 3 months but then compounded by losing another rider for 3 months from the end of May. Other injuries occurred in other teams so the need for guests was clearly an issue that needed addressing. Even now teams still racing, are struggling for guests & that includes from teams that have ended their season or are waiting for others to catch up.
  7. The BSPA have listened to what the fans want but it takes time to implement & tweak to get things right. I have been searching for the older AGM's & found notice of Harkess having his last year of a term of 6 as Chairman. He is now President but it is a Honorary position. This makes me think that Chapman has 3 more years. I also found that when appointed to the Board it is a 3 year term. Therefore, there could be changes for 2019. It was interesting seeing posters names back then & seeing what they were saying to what they are saying now. Also, Rules were made or changed pre AGM so before the new committee were in place so had to run in 2016
  8. The average system would have to change similar to the format. Ours is based on 4 rides giving the maximum 12. Having 5 rides I would expect it to be 15. The foreign leagues teams are made up of graded riders & home league junior riders at reserve. They, also, use a heat average score to distinguish riders abilities.
  9. 45 as all riders are guaranteed 5 rides( Programmed from heats 1-12, 13 & 14 are nominated 3rd to 6th point scorers & 15 is top 2 point scorers. In our format heats 1-14 are guaranteed. Heat 15 is a nominated "extra" 5th ride.
  10. I totally agree with cut off dates as during August & September, the League has took priority because it has a cut off date(although this was extended) as almost all teams would. It certainly is an area that needs addressing in 2019 if the same competitions are run.
  11. I have posted many times over many years that based on a 15 heat meeting, 7 riders ride 4 times over 14 heats(programmed rides) so should be 42.
  12. Looking at the fixtures/results on the BSPA website, some teams were still running Shield meetings in June although we did have a wet start to the year. http://www.speedwaygb.co.uk/june18
  13. No problem. I just remembered seeing a post that contained your name. You might have quoted this post.
  14. Reading through the topics last week, I noticed a post from Tsunami, which I now cannot find so possibly deleted or edited, stating that the points limit in 2019 IS to be lowered & 36 is a figure posted in both leagues. Even though we would like some of riders to return in 2019, our good start to the season has left some of our riders with high averages & others have improved to levels meaning they will not be kept next year. Worrall is one I would try & keep as he has unfinished business & riding on a Friday should help in 2019 as it would have in 2018 his racing for Belle Vue & in Poland. Auty is our stand out performer putting nearly 1.5 points on his average scoring well both home & away. His gating has improved, also. Allen has improved no end & with Auty when at 3 & 4 were almost unbeatable. Heat 15's together recently have been match winners(or even draw winners) Garrity is another of our entertainers but is apparent he tries sometimes too hard which has caused him to have a few niggling injuries. Nielsen because of his pre-injury form could be classed as a possible but his form since coming back & his high average might scupper his plans for a spot even in other teams. Manzares was doing well at start of the year & if his personal problems could be eased then he could be a snip at 4. This last 2 years have seen a lot of riders around a 4 - 5.5 average finding it hard to get a spot in a team at the start of the season. This next year it could rise to between 5 & 6.5. Phillips ........................... well what can you say. Top 6 hoping to score well & he chips in with with the occasional point or 3. But that has not happened & has been pointed out by others that he has probably been our worst rider, ever. There are better riders in the NL hoping for a spot in the CL next year & should be given a chance, even Bailey coming back. Needs another year in NL to progress in confidence & ability.
  15. I posted about this scenario before the season had started that with the Shield being a season opening tournament it needs to be over by the end of July as has been proven again by teams such as Workington, Peterborough & Lakeside, having a good season, involved in almost everything at the end of the year trying to cram it all in.
  16. They will um & aahh & can you ride these dates & if not blame Godfrey & the BSPA for the whole un-cooperation of the teams. At least in the PL, they knew within 30 minutes who they would be riding against, where & when.
  17. Hence why it is best to use the available dates of 21st, 28th & 29th while Bewley is still 3rd in the averages & can use guests. On & after the 1st is when Bewley might move to 4th in averages when r/r can only be used if 1 rider missing.
  18. Just a set of stocks for people like myself to be locked in.
  19. When the date of our Shield S/F being the 22nd I thought that was because you were leaving your main race night Friday 21st free for your Play-Off S/F. You also have the 28th & 29th free before the team averages change.
  20. So you are possibly inferring that "The Massif" have a short memory span & might base your vote on what has happened this last month rather than the season as a whole. Good voting!
  21. Some posters have put the lack of fixtures during June/July down to not wanting to run against the Football World Cup. Have they heard of a "Record Button" at home. This has happened in all 3 leagues & every year has come up against CL Pairs, Cardiff GP, World Cup & The CL 4's in July. Surely, running some meetings with a possible loss of a few fans is better than running later in the year where "fans" will miss meetings due to being "pied off".
  22. Again, your post is of a narrow minded individual who does not see the big picture & the facts. We are also in the KOC S/F so 2 more fixtures at the least. Next Saturday is not a forgone conclusion but enjoy a or 2 for being in the play offs.
  23. As 2 clubs are involved, both can strengthen using guests whether it be for 1 meeting or 6, rules should be applied consistently.
  24. So it seems Ipswich have probably ASKED Riss to step down pointing out that he is hurting both his clubs by not scoring at present due to knocks & lack of confidence. This is classed as withholding his services which enables both teams to have a facility thus strengthening up at a vital time of the season. As Danny wants to ride for Scunthorpe we could not bring in untried 2 pointers that MIGHT have scored a few points whereas Ipswich & Belle Vue can bring in riders that are on low averages but hitting a bit of form that SHOULD strengthen them.
