  1. Agree 100%. Clubs usually only see what's best for themselves at the moment, so this have all the possibilities to be...well, a circus. Well, hoping for the best...

  5. I just can't believe it, but things have changed again, into a complete farce if you ask me. Piraterna's local newspaper in Motala (Motala & Vadstena Tidning), and Lejonen's website, now says that the meeting will still go ahead tonight. According to the newspaper, Lejonen's team manager says that Lejonen will ride without reserves. Troy Batchelor rides in Britain, while Dennis Andersson and David Ruud must ride in the Swedish championship qualifier to avoid a ban from the federation. For Piraterna, Linus Sundström will ride in Stockholm, so it's likely that Tomas Bäck will take the junior position. I wonder what kind of line-ups that will be available tonight. Just have to wait and see...
  6. Lejonen vs Piraterna, that was re-scheduled for tonight (Wednesday), has been postponed again, this time due to the Swedish championship qualifier in Stockholm. As I understand it, the federation didn't approve this Wednesday as a re-staging date for the league fixture, because of the championship qualifier. No new date has been agreed upon for the league meeting.
  7. Now it's official. Lejonen vs Piraterna, that was re-scheduled for tonight, has been postponed again, this time due to the Swedish championship qualifier in Stockholm. No new date has been agreed upon for the league fixture.
  8. I'm not so sure about this. Personally, I would expect a federation meeting (such as a championship qualifier) taking presdence over the league meeting. I guess Ruud and Andersson would be able to ride in Gislaved instead, but then a fine/suspension will be given in that case. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's like that. The same applies to Linus Sundström who can't be in two places at once, if the league goes ahead as scheduled. It sure will be interesting to see what will happen up until 19:00 tonight... Jacob Thorssell has been told that he'll replace Ricky Kling, so expect plenty of changes to the original line-up.

  10. Ah, didn't know that. Did some reseach, and just read in one of the local newspapers (Folkbladet) in Norrköping that Adrian Miedzinski will replace Lee Richardson.
  11. ELITSERIEN ROUND 11 Tuesday July 19th 2011 ELIT VETLANDA - VALSARNA at Vetlanda Motorstadion Scratching a Grand Prix rider is not usual, but Elit Vetlanda have opted to go down that route. In comparison to the line-up that lost at Piraterna two weeks ago, Janusz Kolodziej and Pawel Hlib makes way for Patrick Hougaard and Martin Vaculik. The management hopes to be a bit stronger at reserve, while Thomas H Jonasson and Peter Karlsson are a solid pairing behind the Crump and Hampel sparehead. Valsarna comes with a fairly expected line-up, with the exception of Victor Palovaara who takes the junior position instead of Ludvig Lindgren. Scott Nicholls and former Elit Vetlanda rider Adrian Gomolski are outside of Tuesday's line-up. Grigory Laguta has ridden at number one for all the away meetings up to this point, but shifts to number three. Elit Vetlanda (home) (43) 1. Thomas H Jonasson 2. Peter Karlsson 3. Jaroslaw Hampel 4. Patrick Hougaard 5. Jason Crump 6. Martin Vaculik 7. Jacob Thorssell Valsarna (away) (46) 1. Dave Watt 2. Krzysztof Buczkowski 3. Grigory Laguta 4. Artem Laguta 5. Daniel Nermark 6. Victor Palovaara 7. Tomasz Gapinski *-*-* INDIANERNA - VÄSTERVIK at ICA-Maxi Arena, Kumla The Indians has squad member Grzegorz Zengota back in action in Poland, but obviously feels no need to change their winning line-up from previous meetings. However, they have made some serious re-shuffle among the riders, as Bjarne Pedersen rides on a second string position for the first time, just as Niels-Kristian Iversen (his usual partner) rides at a 5 for the first time. Västervik must have decided their line-up before Sunday's meetings in Poland, because Rafal Okoniewski is missing. He scored an excellent 18 point maximum against Leszno on Sunday. Krzysztof Jablonski takes his place at reserve, in comparison with their last meeting at home to Vargarna, alongside Pontus Aspgren. Indianerna (home) (42) 1. Ryan Sullivan 2. Joonas Kylmäkorpi 3. Krzysztof Jablonski *-*-* LEJONEN - PIRATERNA at NTEX Arena, Gislaved After suffering six straights defeats, of which they have ridden without Chris Holder and/or Darcy Ward in several of them, both of the Aussie WTC riders are back in the Lejonen line-up. They field their strongest line-up for quite some time, with David Ruud and Leon Madsen forming a strong partnership at reserve. For Piraterna, they'll start tonight's meeting without the R/R facility for Rafal Dobrucki. The Pole was listed in their original line-up, but on Piraterna's web TV, team manager Stefan Andersson says that the paper works has been finalized for new signing Piotr Pawlicki, so he takes Dobrucki's place in the squad, and also making his debut at Lejonen. Lejonen (home) (54) 1. Troy Batchelor 2. Mikael Max 3. Chris Holder 4. Darcy Ward 5. Dennis Andersson 6. David Ruud 7. Leon Madsen Piraterna (away) (36) 1. Greg Hancock 2. Linus Sundström 3. Przemyslaw Pawlicki *-*-* VARGARNA - DACKARNA at ICA-Maxi Arena, Norrköping After a weak performance in the previous meeting between the teams, Vargarna face a gigantic uphill climb to get the aggregated point. Realisticly, that point shouldn't be in play tonight. After fielding their top heavy version of the line-up two weeks ago, they have decided to leave Adrian Miedzinski outside of the line-up, enabling a stronger duo at reserve in Eric Andersson and Michael Jepsen Jensen. With six losses in their last seven meetings, Dackarna aren't having a splendid form heading into one of the toughest away meetings of the season, at Vargarna. It's more or less an expected line-up, though I would've thought Ricky Kling might be chosen ahead of Artur Mroczka on the most technical of the Swedish tracks. Vargarna (home) (34) 1. Lee Richardson 2. Kim Nilsson 3. Nicki Pedersen 4. Tai Woffinden 5. Krzysztof Kasprzak 6. Eric Andersson 7. Michael Jepsen Jensen Dackarna (away) (56) 1. Andreas Jonsson 2. Hans Andersen 3. 12. I see you got the Sportowefakty link. It's a great website for all things Polish. I have made a summary for "my" team's website, but it's only in Swedish... http://www.elitvetlanda.se/index.php?page=news&stage=1&id=1914
  13. Guess you gotta see it like that, on the positive side. Strange planning though, because neither of the other meetings had started when the Wroclaw meeting ended. It would have been perfect to go straight to the Czestochowa meeting. Well, at least we got 5 more heats! (Perhaps Wroclaw or Rzeszow changed the original starting time...I don't know)

  15. Was a while since I posted a full meeting report, but I am in a writing mood, so here it goes. PIOTR PAWLICK LIFTS EUROPEAN U19 TITLE Stadion Ilirija, Ljubljana, Slovenia Saturday July 9th 2011 The Slovenian capital invited to today's Junior European Championship Final, on a blazing hot day. Unfortunately, there weren't that many people in the crowd, but those who came got to see a quite entertaining meeting with quite a lot of passing, and an eventual run-off for the silver and bronze medals. Poland had six riders in the line-up, so it wasn't surprising to see several of them in the top of the ranking, actually four in the top six in the end. Personally, I would have expected Tobiasz Musielak to fight for the win, but he messed up his second heat to lose all possibilities of a win. The surprise package of the meeting, Russian Vitaly Belousov, was the rider who - one might say - made his way on to the podium instead of Musielak, getting a second place in the three rider run-off. A special mention to Kai Huckenbeck who had no chance of a podium finish when he had a lap to run for a single point in heat 14, but he still ran all the 398 meters of the Ljubljana track to gain the point in heat 14. Good attitude by the young German, me thinks. 1) (13) Piotr Pawlicki, Poland, 14p ( 3 3 3 3 2 ) 2) (12) Michael Jepsen Jensen, Denmark, 12p ( 2 3 3 3 1 ) +3 3) (10) Vitaly Belousov, Russia, 12p ( 3 1 2 3 3 ) +2 4) (2) Szymon Wozniak, Poland, 12p ( 3 3 1 2 3 ) +1 5) (3) Tobiasz Musielak, Poland, 9p ( 2 F 2 2 3 ) 6) (5) Bartosz Zmarzlik, Poland, 9p ( 2 2 2 Fx 3 ) 7) (6) Mikkel B Jensen, Denmark, 8p ( 0 2 3 3 0 ) 8) (15) Jonas B Andersen, Denmark, 8p ( 2 2 0 2 2 ) 9) (8) Kai Huckenbeck, Germany, 7p ( 3 2 1 1 R ) 10) (7) Dino Kovacic, Croatia, 6p ( 1 3 0 2 0 ) 11) (4) Vaclav Milik, Czech Republic, 6p ( 1 1 1 1 2 ) 12) (14) Mikolaj Curylo, Poland, 5p ( 1 0 3 1 0 ) 13) (16) Andrzejs Lebedevs, Latvia, 4p ( 0 0 1 1 2 ) 14) (1) Artur Czaja, Poland, 3p ( 0 1 2 F Fx ) 15) (11) Danny Maassen, Germany, 3p ( 1 1 0 R 1 ) 16) (9) Matic Ivacic, Slovenia, 1p ( 0 0 0 0 1 ) 17) (17) Roman Cejka, Czech Republic 1: Wozniak, Musielak, Milik, Czaja Wozniak hit the deck on the first attempt, but all four back for the re-start, which was from the gate. 2: Huckenbeck, Zmarzlik, Kovacic, Jensen Great ride by Huckenbeck who went from third to first. Kovacic went the other way, and almost lost the final point as well, but just held on. 3: Belousov, Jepsen Jensen, Maassen, Ivacic Jepsen Jensen passed Maassen on the third lap, and almost caught the fast gating Belousov. Jepsen Jensen put a lot of pressure on the Russian on the final lap, but Belousov rode smart to keep the lead. 4: Pawlicki, Andersen, Curylo, Lebedevs Pawlicki and Curylo got together on the first bend and fell, all four back once again. Andersen gated in the re-run but was passed by Pawlicki on the opening lap. Curylo also made a pass, on Lebedevs with a lap to go. 5: Pawlicki, Zmarzlik, Czaja, Ivacic A whole straight seperated the four riders. 6: Wozniak, Jensen, Belousov, Curylo Wozniak, gate and go. Belousov held second initially, but Jensen turned from the outside to the inside for the pass on Belousov on lap two. 7: Kovacic, Andersen, Maassen, Musielak ( F ) Kovacic and Musielak fell on bend on. All four back. Musielak then ended his hopes of a gold medal when he fell on his own, on the first lap in the re-run. Kovacic blasted around Andersen for the heat win on the final lap. 8: Jepsen Jensen, Huckenbeck, Milik, Lebedevs Not much action in this one. 9: Jensen, Czaja, Lebedevs, Maassen From the gate. 10: Jepsen Jensen, Zmarzlik, Wozniak, Andersen Easy for Jepsen Jensen. Andersen challenge Zmarzlik for second, but was passed by Wozniak instead! 11: Curylo, Musielak, Huckenbeck, Ivacic Huckenbeck, in podium position after two rounds, had a tough third outing as he challenged for the lead against Musielak, but then ended up in third. Curylo was amazing as he passed both Huckenbeck and Musielak for a surprising win. 12: Pawlicki, Belousov, Milik, Kovacic Pawlicki won by a mile in a heat with no drama. 13: Jepsen Jensen, Kovacic, Curylo, Czaja ( F ) Czaja slid off on bend three of the opening lap, on a newly watered track, in a battle for second. Big distances between the three remaining riders in this one. 14: Pawlicki, Wozniak, Huckenbeck, Maassen ( R ) Maassen had an engine failure while fourth on lap two. Then Huckenbeck had mechanical gremlins while second on the third lap, so had to run an entire lap for the last point. 15: Belousov, Musielak, Lebedevs, Zmarzlik ( Fx ) A troublesome heat. Zmarzlik fell on bend on, all four back. Then an unsatisfactory start before Zmarzlik fell again, chasing Belousov for second. In the fourth time, Belousov made the gate and won. 16: Jensen, Andersen, Milik, Ivacic Jensen way ahead, Ivacic way back, and some battle between Andersen and Milik in the middle. 17: Belousov, Andersen, Huckenbeck ( R ), Czaja ( Fx ) Czaja fell again on bends three/four, and was excluded. Huckenbeck had an engine failure at the tapes in the re-run, with Belousov winning and putting the pressure on Wozniak... 18: Wozniak, Lebedevs, Ivacic, Kovacic ...but Wozniak kept cool under that pressure to secure a place in a run-off for a medal. Ivacic finally took a point, fair and square, against Kovacic. 19: Musielak, Pawlicki, Jepsen Jensen, Jensen Amazing draw that stuck four pre-meeting favourites in this one, I must say. Musielak showed that he really had the capacity to win the entire meeting as he won this race. The most interesting was the fight between Pawlicki and Jepsen Jensen, with the Pole passing the latter on bend three of the opening lap, and then hang on for the win. Pawlicki - European U19 champion! 20: Zmarzlik, Milik, Maassen, Curylo Zmarzlik won it from the gate. Good battle for second as Maassen almost fenced Milik going down the backstraight of lap one, but the Czech never gave up and blasted around Maassen on lap three for the second place. A fine move my Milik! 21: Jepsen Jensen, Belousov, Wozniak The run-off for 2nd-4th was surprisingly undramatic. Jepsen Jensen won easily, and even though Wozniak tried the outside line, he couldn't catch Belousov who caught the bronze medal. ----- Finally, it was great to meet up with Mr. Slovenian Speedway, Tomaz Pozrl. I know how hectic it might get after a meeting in the role of Clerk of the Course, but taking just a few minutes out of that busy schedule to have a chat, that's great work. Nice meeting you, and putting a face to the name so to speak. Sorry I couldn't stay for a beer, but I managed to see almost half the meeting of the Swedish team's WTC qualifier on a stream. Those darn Danes just got the win...
  16. It's great news. Allsvenskan seems to be in a quite healthy state, and a strong second tier can only be good for Swedish speedway. Next year could be even better with an 8/8 team split between Elitserien and Allsvenskan. I think that's the way to go. With the exception of Avantia, there are good attendence figures in Allsvenskan. However, it must be said that I weren't expecting big numbers for Avantia, as they are the second team in town and those generally don't draw many people.
  17. So with the Masarna meeting ended, I may as well watch the final two heats from Eskilstuna.
  18. It will be a tough job for team manager Jansson to make a decision for the nominated heat, to only choose two when the entire main body of Ikaros Smederna going so well. I feel for him, because - as a team manager - it s*cks not being able to give more than two riders an extra heat. I miss the two nominated heats from previous seasons... Father and son.
  19. Been watching Masarna vs Örnarna all night, via the qrodo.com link. A fairly good meeting, with some passes and a close scoreline. Masarna have turned a 7-17 deficit to a 36-29 lead with only four heats to go.
  20. Not quite sure that 32 degrees is pleasant for a Nordic person. Anyway, way better that than the risk of postponement, so with sunglasses, a cap and some water, it should be just fine. Looking forward to it!
  21. You know it. Can't beat Polish league action on a Sunday night, right? BTW, great ride by Batchelor!
  22. Interesting that you mention those, because I'm not particulary fond of the racing there either, so I have decided not to go to either one anymore. Well, unless I'm "forced" to (in a management position or such), or just being in the neighbourhood for some other reasons. But I won't make those travels just for one meeting/day, for sure.
  23. Yes, on a bad day I will be upset. On most days, I don't care. Most Vetlanda fans like the track for it's high speed racing, even if it's hard to pass. If it so bad in Vetlanda, other fans should feel "lucky" that their own track provide so marvellous, incredible and fantastic racing every single time, and that they only need to suffer "the dire Vetlanda track" once a year.
