ELITSERIEN ROUND 8 Tuesday June 21st 2011 LEJONEN - ELIT VETLANDA at NTEX Arena, Gislaved After being demolished at Indianerna last week, Lejonen returns home in a re-match of last season's Play Off finals. The reserves from the Indianerna meeting, Sebastian Aldén and Oliver Berntzon, have been replaced with Troy Batchelor and Mikael Max, the latter being available after missing last week due to injury. However, the rolling average dictates that Dennis Andersson drops to reserve, alongside Batchelor. Reigning champions, and last placed, Elit Vetlanda didn't ride last week, but has still improved since the last meeting. Jacob Thorssel has recovered from his grandular fever, and takes the junior position. Patrick Hougaard is still out, so the possible line-up of Smolinski/Hougaard instead of PK/Hlib wasn't an option this time around. The form of Janusz Kolodziej is also improving for the 2010 champions. Lejonen (home) 1. Kenneth Bjerre 2. David Ruud 3. Darcy Ward 4. Leon Madsen 5. Mikael Max 6. Dennis Andersson 7. Troy Batchelor Elit Vetlanda (away) 1. Janusz Kolodziej 2. Peter Karlsson 3. Jaroslaw Hampel 4. Thomas H Jonasson 5. Jason Crump 6. Jacob Thorssell 7. Pawel Hlib *-*-* DACKARNA - PIRATERNA at G&B Arena, Målilla Despite winning a last heat decider in last week's derby at Västervik, Dackarna makes several changes. Three riders enters the line-up, with all of them making their season debuts. Hans Andersen replace the R/R facility for Jurica Pavlic, with Daniel King replacing Tomasz Chrzanowski and Joel Larsson taking the junior spot instead of Anders Mellgren. King/Larsson are the partnership at reserve with Mroczka taking a top five position, all in regards to the rolling average. The Pirates of Motala had two meetings last week, scoring a win and a tie for three points. The line-up that scored a 45-45 tie at Valsarna gets the nod, meaning Jesper B Monberg instead of Daniel Davidsson (who rode the Wednesday fixture against Vargarna instead of the Dane) alongside Linus Sundström at reserve. Also, R/R is still being in use for Rafal Dobrucki. Dackarna (home) 1. Andreas Jonsson 2. Hans Andersen 3. Fredrik Lindgren 4. Artur Mroczka 5. Rune Holta 6. Daniel King 7. Joel Larsson Piraterna (away) 1. Greg Hancock 2. Rafal Dobrucki R/R 3. Maciej Janowski 4. Przemyslaw Pawlicki 5. Jonas Davidsson 6. Linus Sundström 7. Jesper B Monberg *-*-* HAMMARBY - VALSARNA at Gubbängens IP, Stockholm Capital outfit Hammarby had to ride without Tomasz Gollob last week, but can welcome him back for this fixture, replacing Simon Stead who only scored 2 paid 4 at reserve against Vargarna. Coming from an away to a home meeting means several changes to the riding order, with only Alexander Edberg wearing the same race jackets as in Norrköping. Third placed Valsarna had a draw against Piraterna last Tuesday, but manager Jerker Eriksson have opted for a couple of changes. Ludvig Lindgren is back at the junior position, replacing Victor Palovaara, and Scott Nicholls takes the number three race jacket from Krzysztof Buczkowski. Despite a paid twelve haul at reserve last week, the rolling average still keeps Tomasz Gapinski at reserve. Hammarby (home) 1. Grzegorz Walasek 2. Robert Kosciecha 3. Tomasz Gollob 4. Rory Schlein 5. Magnus Zetterström 6. Andrej Karpov 7. Alexander Edberg Valsarna (away) 1. Grigory Laguta 2. Artem Laguta 3. Scott Nicholls 4. Dave Watt 5. Daniel Nermark 6. Ludvig Lindgren 7. Tomasz Gapinski *-*-* INDIANERNA - VARGARNA at ICA-Maxi Arena, Kumla Table topping Indianerna took a crushing win against Lejonen last week so obviously don't see the need for any riders to be replaced, rightly so. The seven riders are the same, but the rolling average has put Joonas Kylmäkorpi at reserve with Ryan Sullivan taking a place in the main body of the team. Several changes are still made to the riding order, with only Bjarne Pedersen and Piotr Protasiewicz riding with the same race jacket as last week, despite coming from one home meeting to another. The Wolves of Norrköping faces a strong challenge against Indianerna, and have opted for the top heavy version of their line-up, including all top four riders as Krzysztof Kasprzak replaces fellow countrymen Adam Skornicki. To fit under the maximum average limit, André Hertzberg replaces Eric Andersson to form an all junior reserve pairing with Kim Nilsson. Tai Woffinden, who had a massive 24 paid 28 in 12 heats last week, takes a second string position. Indianerna (home) 1. Antonio Lindbäck 2. Bjarne Pedersen 3. Piotr Protasiewicz 4. Niels-Kristian Iversen 5. Ryan Sullivan 6. Simon Gustafsson 7. Joonas Kylmäkorpi Vargarna (away) 1. Nicki Pedersen 2. Lee Richardson 3. Adrian Miedzinski 4. Tai Woffinden 5. Krzysztof Kasprzak 6. Yeah, I guess it's so.
-
Good racing by Pepe in that one, heat 13. Not much to get excited about this Tuesday otherwise, but as I say; "It takes two to tango", and it's only one team dancing tonight...
-
Agree. Such a shame it's gone. Also, in the eyes of a team manager, I would really like to reward by middle order riders once in a while. With only one nominated heat, it's usually the same two riders that get the nod, but the 3rd and 4th in the pecking order deserves an extra ride most of the time, but I'm unable to give them that. That's frustrating! Sure, that will get him far...
-
With only one nominated heat nowadays, I would definitely say that. Must admit that the only one nominated heat has had a bigger impact than I expected. For the meeting, a huge well done to Oliver Berntzon for beating Antonio Lindbäck in heat 4! Would certainly want an equally hot Berntzon tomorrow, as he ride for "my" Nässjö team in Division 1.
-
...and possibly replaced by Piotr Protasiewicz. Indianerna will always have one exceptional reserve alongside Simon Gustafsson, another great reserve in himself. Indianerna is the team to beat this season.
-
R/R can only be used for the top two in rolling average, among those riders who are in the line-up for the actual meeting. So whenever R/R is in use, all the other riders in the main body of the team can take an extra ride.
-
According to the local newspaper in the Gislaved region, Chris Holder won't be riding tonight. Dennis Andersson will step up to number 4, with junior Oliver Berntzon filling the number 7 spot.
-
Agree. Go Jerker! I'm so chuffed for him, and his results with Valsarna so far. You'll never know, these days, that's the key words. Elitserien 2011 have provided upset after upset, so it's hard to predict most meetings nowadays. However, they should not cause problems. No problems! You do a great job in the off season when I'm involved in my local icehockey team, and really can't stand to write about speedway TBH, so that's well deserved. And you know, I got next week as well.

ELITSERIEN ROUND 7 Tuesday June 14th 2011 VÄSTERVIK - DACKARNA at Stena Arena, Västervik Upon this local derby, Västervik have opted for the same seven riders who lost in Stockholm last week. Rafal Okoniewski takes a second straight meeting instead of injured Aussie Adam Shields, and Okoniewski looks to be in good form after posting 15 points for Rzeszow on Sunday in Poland. However, the Pole moves to second string position with Nicolai Klindt dropping to reserve. After surprisingly losing at home to Valsarna two weeks ago, Dackarna had a week off in round 6 last Tuesday. From that meeting, the management have nominated their strongest possible line-up, to include Tomasz Chrzanowski and Artur Mroczka instead of Ricky Kling and Robin Aspegren who scored 5 points between them against Valsarna. Also, Jurica Pavlic still has the second highest rolling average, so count on R/R to be in use. Västervik (home) 1. Sebastian Ulamek 2. Tomasz Jedrzejak 3. Chris Harris 4. Rafal Okoniewski 5. Peter Ljung 6. Pontus Aspgren 7. Nicolai Klindt Dackarna (away) 1. Andreas Jonsson 2. Tomasz Chrzanowski 3. Fredrik Lindgren 4. Jurica Pavlic 5. Rune Holta 6. Anders Mellgren 7. Artur Mroczka *-*-* VALSARNA - PIRATERNA at Tallhults Motorstadion, Hagfors After scoring surprising wins on the road, at Dackarna and Lejonen, Valsarna now returns home to try and defend their top four status. Team manager Jerker Eriksson has left the main body of the team intact, but instead of the reserve pairing of Ludvig Lindgren and Scott Nicholls, Tomasz Gapinski is back in the line-up with Victor Palovaara making his season debut instead of Lindgren at the junior position. The Pirates got last week's meeting postponed, so they haven't been in action since the 24th of May! In comparison with that line-up, a crushing home victory to Västervik, only a small change is done as Przemyslaw Pawlicki and Maciej Janowski swaps race jackets between them. Valsarna (home) 1. Grigory Laguta 2. Artem Laguta 3. Krzysztof Buczkowski 4. Dave Watt 5. Daniel Nermark 6. Victor Palovaara 7. Tomasz Gapinski Piraterna (away) 1. Przemyslaw Pawlicki 2. Rafal Dobrucki R/R 3. Greg Hancock 4. Maciej Janowski 5. Jonas Davidsson 6. Jesper B Monberg 7. Linus Sundström *-*-* VARGARNA - HAMMARBY at ICA-Maxi Arena, Norrköping The Wolves had their meeting at Piraterna falling victim to the rain last Tuesday, so they haven't been in action since the meeting against Elit Vetlanda two weeks ago, which was abandoned with two heats to go (I'll leave it at that). Despite crashing heavily in Poland, Lee Richardson has been nominated in the line-up, but I guess a guestionmark is in order for Lee's status. Krzysztof Kasprzak isn't in the line-up, but would fit as a direct replacement for Richardson. Guess we'll have to await more news from Norrköping. Hammarby won last week against Västervik, but will face a tougher time on Tuesday as they travel to Norrköping, without Tomasz Gollob. The Pole had an agreement made before the season started to miss this fixture according to Norrköping newspaper Folkbladet. Therefore, Andrej Karpov moves to the main body of the team and Simon Stead makes another appearence at reserve. Vargarna (home) 1. Lee Richardson 2. Kim Nilsson 3. Adrian Miedzinski 4. Adam Skornicki 5. Nicki Pedersen 6. Tai Woffinden 7. Eric Andersson Hammarby (away) 1. Magnus Zetterström 2. Andrej Karpov 3. Robert Kosciecha 4. Grzegorz Walasek 5. Rory Schlein 6. Simon Stead 7. Alexander Edberg *-*-* INDIANERNA - LEJONEN at ICA-Maxi Arena, Kumla Leading leading Indianerna takes on Lejonen in this week's TV fixture, and they do it with the same line-up who won in Vetlanda last Tuesday. Despite a 13 point haul at number seven, Ryan Sullivan stays at reserve by a slim margin to Piotr Protasiewicz who is fifth in the list of rolling averages, and may be the next one at reserve, if Sullivan has another good meeting at the bottom two. After being smashed by Valsarna at home, 35-55, the management of Lejonen have opted for some changes to the line-up. Both Piotr Swiderski and Mikael Max miss their first meeting of the season, while the Lions welcome back Leon Madsen into the team, a former Indianerna rider. Also, Kenneth Bjerre makes his season debut for the Gislaved outfit and Dennis Andersson drops to reserve instead of David Ruud who rides at number five. Indianerna (home) 1. Niels-Kristian Iversen 2. Bjarne Pedersen 3. Piotr Protasiewicz 4. Joonas Kylmäkorpi 5. Antonio Lindbäck 6. Ryan Sullivan 7. Simon Gustafsson Lejonen (away) 1. Kenneth Bjerre 2. Leon Madsen 3. Darcy Ward 4. Chris Holder 5. David Ruud 6. Sebastian Aldén 7. Dennis Andersson *-*-* CURRENT STANDING: 1. Indianerna, 6, 5-0-1, 10p (+56) 2. Hammarby, 5, 3-0-2, 6p (+4) 3. Valsarna, 5, 3-0-2, 6p (-4) 4. Lejonen, 5, 3-0-2, 6p (-12) --------------------------------------------------- 5. Västervik, 6, 3-0-3, 6p (-20) 6. Piraterna, 4, 2-0-2, 4p (+10) 7. Vargarna, 4, 2-0-2, 4p (-23) 8. Dackarna, 5, 1-0-4, 2p (-4) --------------------------------------------------- 9. Elit Vetlanda, 6, 1-0-5, 2p (-7) BTW, last week's postponed meeting between Piraterna and Vargarna will be held this Wednesday, the 15th of June. *-*-* Tuesday's TV meeting is the one from Kumla; Indianerna vs Lejonen. Other than that, all meetings should be covered by live updates on the federation website; www.svemo.se/speedway, starting at 19:00 local time. Enjoy! Had a quick edit, but I hope no one saw the wrong part (which I edited).

Great news... ...and as you obviously think I should celebrate that news with a beer, I've just opened a Polish one (Zywiec). -

Missed heats 2-4 as my *** **** computer decided to **** **, but that's good news. Anyway, he looked good in his second as well. We (Elit Vetlanda), and Leszno of course, really need him in top form! -

In Sweden, half the meeting must be held, in any kind of fixture, for the result to stand. So in Elitserien, Allsvenskan and Division 1, it's only 8 heats actually. -

How many heats must be ridden in a Polish league meeting for the result to stand? (I notice that the Daugavpils vs Lodz meeting in Liga 1 was abandoned after 10 heats...) -
Nope, it's a surprise all right. However, even though I'm not overjoyed as an Elit Vetlanda fan, it's good for the sport when the "lesser" teams starts the season well. Gives the entire league a bit of surprise factor. That said, still, I really would like a win tomorrow.

The preview on Elit Vetlanda's website was written earlier on Sunday, but when it was time to register the line-up officially at 21:00 hours, the management had changed the mind, to ride Thomas H Jonasson at number 2 and Peter Karlsson at number 4 instead. Nicholls was in and out of reserve berth last season, so it's no surprise he's back there IMO. He's not, and has never been, the rider he is in Britain. However, he should be able to hold down a second string position, he really should... That will be a major factor for all meetings in this round, I think. Sure, it's only a qualifer, but in combination with dodgy weather forecasts for Motala (Piraterna), Gislaved (Lejonen) and Vetlanda (Elit Vetlanda), I predict it will be a really bad round for attendences in general. Indeed. Some good racing as well, and with a surprising maximum by Masarna in heat 11, it may get exciting in the end. -

Good evening guys! The plan was to be in Mariestad (Örnarna vs Masarna) tonight, but I couldn't find anyone to go with me, so I decided not to make the 5 hour round trip by myself. I'll keep an eye on that one tonight.
