  1. Call if off now, so we can have the 2nd leg. If that doesn't wash with the authorities, then we'll get Baldy and Bruv to kidnap Bob, I'll jump on the tractor after there's been a shower. I haven't driven one of those things for years, but that doesn't matter, I'll just chuck a blade underneath, totally ruin the track, and then we'll have to call it off. Nobody will suspect sabotage, this is Speedway and you can do what the hell you want. Failing that, I'll pray for lots of rain.
  2. I see that Mr Blobby, I was hoping that as the play off final was more important, and as that was sorted, Edinburgh would put that first. But I fully understand that unless we get some dry weather you could have problems, so It's probably a case of whoever says yes first. you've got to take it.
  3. As there's nothing on any official website about what Edinburgh are doing about all their fixtures, I suppose we've got to take Bruv's (ever reliable) word that this is Thursday. So it looks like Edinburgh will get the 2nd leg in both cup finals, and no doubt the play off final. That seems "fair" to me! Apologies to Edinburgh if Ipswich and Peterboro insisted on having the home legs first, but I doubt we did. I was hoping the play off final would be this week, then we ride at Edinburgh of the following Friday with the 2nd leg (and a decent crowd) on the Saturday at Foxhall. I think an 8 point lead could be enough, we're stronger now and Edinburgh are a bit weaker than earlier in the season.
  4. Sometimes I hate being ( almost) right. Well done to Somerset, good to see the two best teams in the final. Hopefully we can win the cup, quite fancy our chances. Hopefully I can be right again.
  5. I always get the impression it doesn't matter where you ride at the OTA, when that lot click into gear, that's it. Go out wide and they'll go under you, ride the white line and they'll go round you. I wont even get excited if we're level after heat 8, a few have managed that, but then it's 5-1 5-1 5-1 goodnight.
  6. You obviously don't listen to what Chris has come out with, problem is, he's just one voice and the old gits at the BSPA wont budge. He wanted what the fans want, the league cup finished early, but that didn't get through. Unlike some tracks he listens to the fans, we never get a pointless interval if the meeting is dragging a bit. You never hear him whinging about poor crowds, he's a realist and he knows that speedway isn't top of people's priorities anymore, but hopefully he'll keep it going, I cant imagine anybody else would take it over. Let's face it, who'd takeover a business when "breaking even" is the best you can hope for. Keep up the good work Chris, most of know we probably wouldn't have a speedway track without you and daddy. No doubt some fans would like a change for changes sake, but I'd rather have someone whose heart is in the club, better the devil you know than Mr Horton (or someone like him).
  7. My head says " don't be an idiot and go all that way to see us get stuffed", but my heart is saying " you've got a couple of holiday days left, why not?". I'll wait until I see the forecast then decide. But realisticly the rebels are awesome at home, even when Berwick got a good start a few weeks ago, the rebels just moved up another gear with a load of 5-1's. Anything is possible, but winning at the OTA isn't usually one of them.
  8. Nice one Baldy, I knew you couldn't resist starting one. Agree with other posts, but will wait until the BSPA conference before looking at this thread again. Far to many if's but's and maybe's, but as we all know the conference will just try and keep the elite league alive, they won't care about the damage it does to other clubs. The sooner the elite league dies the better for all of us, but while sky are chucking a few quid at it, the rest will have to suffer. So many simple ways of finding a balance that suits most, but that lot won't find it!!
  9. Birks being out must help the Witches cause, but who have we got? I assume Morten wont be back, so R/R for him and ????? for Gino. Also is it correct Wells for Klindt?
  10. Poor crowd??? Cant remember the last time I had to go that far back to park my car. Certainly over 1,000. I started to count when we were waiting for heat 1, but far too many for that. You put all those up in the seats where they used to be, and it would have looked very healthy. Or better still, put the whole crowd tonight on the home straight at Monmore, and Nigel would wet himself.
  11. 50-43 would do me. As others have said, tomorrow at Scunny should be defining meeting.
  12. We always had the first leg at home in the finals we've been in, hopefully this time we can get the 2nd, surely that's only fair. I understand if we reach the play off final the team finishing higher gets the choice, but not in the cup. Come on, we've waited a long time to get some silverware, we'd actually like to see it if we win.
  13. Just like to mention how much we enjoyed the whole experience at the Friends Arena. Me and the missus rarely travel to GP's these days, we just got hacked off with being treated so badly. In Prague my wife had an expensive small umbrella stolen by some uniformed thug, when we got into the stadium all those in the expensive seats were allowed huge umbrella's. Then on entering the Parken an old Lady in front of us had two sandwiches confiscated from her handbag. But tonight, no bag searches, sit where you like if the seat was empty, and there was even a small section of terracing for those that wanted to stand. And the best bit, you could go outside for a fag, not many stadium's let you do that. As for the meeting, I probably enjoyed it more than some. Being an Ipswich fan it was great to see Jarek back on top, and i also backed Greg to win the Championship this year, so no complaints here!
  14. Got to agree with Bruv, I really think our Boys call put it off. Sadly can't be there as I'll be watching a meeting in Meissen, come on lads, believe!!
  15. About 5 years ago, had a long talk with the owner. He told me he spoke to lots of experienced riders before laying the track, they all told him short straights and big bends was the way to go. Shame the bloke at Leicester didn't do the same.
  16. Liberec takes some beating. Short straights, big bends and wide. As soon as I walked in it felt right, and it didn't disappoint. Also really liked Leylstad in Holland. Strange that, two of my favourites begin with L, also one of the worst does, bet you can't guess where that is, and It's not Lodz, Lejonen,Lublin or Lakeside.
  17. 2nd leg tonight, obviously a forgone conclusion, hence no new thread. Just hope our lads get through it unscathed.
  18. Don't think I've seen Richie ride like that since he guested for us last season, great to see. Just hope Scunny are better tonight, if they can get all 3 point, then I fancy our chances. Was surprised how mild it stayed last night for a fairly decent crowd, just hope the weather holds for a few more weeks. Someone mentioned earlier you're bound to get a big crowd for a cup final, usually I'd agree, but we got a shocker on that freezing cold Saturday night when Newcastle rode against us in the first leg 2 years ago. I think it snowed in the afternoon, the track was covered in sawdust, and from memory there was barely 400 there, it was a foul night!!
  19. In the unlikely event it's double figure temperatures when the final comes around, we'd get a big crowd then, But not going to be easy getting to that, unlike the KO cup final which will be raced sometime on a cold winters night with hardly anybody there. Crowds have been pretty good lately, so just hope they all keep coming for another 3 (hopefully 4) meetings. Come on lads, 15pt win will do fine tonight.
  20. Reasonable crowd is the best we can hope for. Now it's getting chilly in the Evenings, that certainly puts a few off. Really looking forward to the two meetings, just hope we can pull it off. P.S. Well done to the Ippo regulars on here for not starting one of those pointless 2015 threads before this season as even finished.
  21. Flying Gatwick - Arlanda on Friday. Staying at the Scandic 35 minute walk from the stadium. Hoping to go to Hammerby 7pm for the open meeting. Looked on their website, but I can't find out who's riding. Anybody know if it's a good field?
  22. I don't put any blame on Ipswich here. These dates have been there for Months, this is when the powers that be should organise the fixtures, and not leave it up to the Promoters. Hopefully a full explanation will be forthcoming from the 2 clubs that couldn't be bothered to ride us this Week. Far too many clubs have this attitude, that's why the fixture list is such a mess most seasons. Employ a fixture co-ordinator, then things could only get better. Then we wouldn't have the likes of Workington only riding a few meetings in the first half of the season, and when it was bleeding obvious Edinburgh would be involved in everything, the coordinator would make sure they got ahead with their fixtures.
  23. Would fancy 6 home wins, then all coming down to points difference. As we know, when Somerset are on fire at home they can rattle up the 5-1's, I'd probably give them the edge, but certainly wouldn't put any money on it. But (probably) with 2 Saturdays sides in 1 group and 2 Friday sides in the other, I hope common sense prevails and somebody can switch and get the thing over and done with. Still got cups to sort out as well.
  24. Being the Chairman of a self-interest organisation can't be easy. Even when a promoter does comes up with a sensible idea, it doesn't suit someone else so it never happens.
  25. Sad for the skipper with his bike problems. Problem is, most riders are loathed to fork out on new machinery at this time of the season, just hope he can rebuild a competitive bike for the remaining meetings. Adam obviously doesn't like tiddly tracks, just hope we can build a good lead on Thursday to make the 2nd leg academic.
