  1. There wont be . I'm sure this can be settled to everybody's satisfaction
  2. No it's not , but unfortunately for Ipswich this young asset has decided he'd rather stay at the place that gave him his chance . No point in trying to hold onto a rider that would rather be somewhere else .
  3. I'm at a loss to understand Louis' response . If he wanted to hang on to young Joe , then he only had to hand him a Witches team place this season . The lad has become very popular at Glasgow , he loves riding for the Tigers and sees his immediate future with the club that was willing to give him a chance . I think it's in everyones interest just to get the deal done .
  4. Certainly an enigma . He's become almost totally reliant on his gating these days , when he misses the gate he might as well ride straight into the pits
  5. Very disappointing today . Track looked fine after all yesterday's rain , but it was evident from the first couple of heats that it wasn't quite right with riders two-wheeling going into the bends instead of sliding . Then we have a track grade and Doolan promptly comes out and equals the track record . After that the racing was good enough , though we were basically second best to a decent looking Leicester side . Doolan was impressive when he gated , Bjerre looked fast though he was a bit naughty on Grieves down the back straight in heat 7 . Just as well James was holding his wrist tenderly or he might have put one on Bjerre's chin . But Leicester's real star was Magnus Karlsson , he was absolutely brilliant today . If he has to step down when Adam Roynon is fit, we'll have him . For us , well i'm afraid this result has been coming . Four race wins ( two each from Screen and Grieves ) simply wont win you many meetings . The boys tried hard , but Leicester looked that bit sharper and faster . So we'll just have to lick our wounds and dust ourselves down for next weekend . It's only Worky away and the Self proclaimed champions elect at home ...........toffee .
  6. Since Alun , and Gordon Pairman , will be at Ashfield today . Then any announcement will be coming from the top .
  7. Newcastle , assuming two track is back , is the only team equiped to give the Monarchs a run for their money at the dump this season .
  8. Another close encounter looks on the cards this Sunday as the Leicester Lions come calling on league business . Hopefully the weather will get it's act together and give us a dry afternoon for a change . Familiar faces spearhead the Leicester attack . Popular 2006 Tiger Kauko Nieminimininen is their main man , backed up by another ex-Tiger Kevin Doolan and ex-Monarch Magnus Karlsson . They also have baby Bjerre , which makes them look troublesome opponents . Berwick cast off Alex Edberg also dons a Lions racejacket as their reshuffle at reserve continues . Teams for Sunday - Glasgow 1 Joe Screen 2 Henning Bager 3 James Wright 4 Joey Ringwood 5 James Grieves 6 Harley Horwood 7 Joe Jacobs Leicester 1 Kauko Nieminen 2 Jan Graversen 3 Lasse Bjerre 4 Kevin Doolan 5 Magnus Karlsson 6 Alex Edberg 7 Rob Branford The Leicester side is probably completely wrong , as it seems to change on a regular basis . Anyway for our point of view , a return of the normal James Grieves would be most welcome and more of the same from the rest of the lads . There's a GP night in the bar on Saturday . Starts at 5p.m. and there's a small £2 charge for the finger buffet .
  9. Was surprised this even went ahead , never mind giving us as much entertainment as it did . Scunny were well worth the draw , but it was a credit to both teams and the trackstaff that we got as good a meeting as we did . There was a decent racing , especially Birks' move in heat 14 to go from 3rd to 1st round the outside on the 4th bend . But there were multiple passing lines as Henning proved when getting the inside line to work on a couple of occasions . Great to see the big man having a decent meeting . Cant be too critical of James Grieves , he's been our saviour on so many occasions in the past , let's hope he gets over soon what was bothering him today .
  10. I'm heading into town and the pub shortly , but i'm sure folk will keep posting updates
  11. Rain off again where i am , fingers crossed it stays off . Getting heartily sick off this every week
  12. nah i'm not stirring , just pointing out a statement of fact . I'm not saying Edinburgh is a bad track or can't produce decent racing . It's just one of those tracks that a lot of riders can't get to grips with . What Glasgow's league position in 2009 has to do with Darcy Ward's performances round the Dale , is beyond me sorry .
  13. That's quite interesting . In the same season Ward was banging in maximums everywhere in the PL , in fact his first ever ride round Ashfield he equalled the track record . So it even took such a prodigious young talent like Darcy Ward three attempts round Armadale to hit double figures . Interesting indeed .
  14. Here you are folks , proof positive it's not all gate and go at Glasgow anymore http://www.glasgowtigers.co/?p=2302&fb_ref=below-post&fb_source=message
  15. If we blank it out of our mind , then maybe it never happened .
  16. Darcy Ward didn't appear to take to it like a duck to water
  17. He's improving without looking terribly exciting . Armadale is a devilishly difficult track for visiting riders , there's a long list of decent riders who never look comfortable round there . This year Edinburgh have a decent side , though even a poor Monarchs side doesn't lose too many at home . But certainly this year 20+ margin of victories will be the norm . How this Monarchs team copes with life away from their home comfort zone will decide if they will be genuine title contenders . But certainly an almost perfect home record will take you pretty close to the play-offs .
  18. Agree about Helfer , he looked absolutely woeful . Both his points were gifts after Horwood fell in heat 2 , and Ringwood was excluded in heat 11 . Though what was going on with Ringwood in that race , i don't know , as he looked ill at ease with the outside starting position from the start and then had a complete nightmare race , after looking pretty good in his previous two races . Out of the three new Aussies on show , i still think Ringwood has the best chance of achieving anything in the sport . Though to be fair , the Golden Child is improving while Horwood continues to struggle badly away from Ashfield . Grieves looked a bit subdued , probably understandable following the death of his grandfather , Screen and Wright both had their moments , but on the whole it was deja vu at the Dump for the small band of Tigers' fans on the third bend . Our use of the t/r had me scratching my head . After a horror start we found ourselves 18-6 down after 4 heats . But with Screen , granted he was disappointing in heat 1 , out against Pijper and the Golden Child there was the prospect of at least a 6-3 . I think these things should be used at the earliest opportunity , especially as you're restricted to between heat 5 and heat 12 , but we resisted till Ringwood in heat 8 . Though any t/r wouldn't really have had much impact on the final score .
  19. Well another comprehensive defeat at Armadale . Not a lot to say about it , the Monarchs were just too good for us again . We tried hard , but found the going as tough as ever . James Wright inflicting a rare Armadale defeat on Craig Cook was our only real highlight .
  20. Bit wet here in the west , are we dry in West Lothian ?
  21. I refer you back to the cold , dark , horrible winter months on here . Everybody had their own wee team thread of signing announcements and speculation and rumour . We had Redcar 2013 , Rye House 2013 , Somerset 2013 etc , etc , you get the drift . However , the humble offering from the eastern end of the M8 proudly claimed , Edinburgh Champions 2013 .
  22. So assuming we emerged unscathed after our trip east to the Scotwaste Skip , we will welcome the reigning Premier League Champions to our humble little track of excitement this Sunday . Been a bit of a stuttering start to the defence of their title with home draws against Ipswich and a Craig Cook inspired Workington ,in the TV match ,before a narrow win against Craig Cook's other team on Bank Holiday Monday . Scunthorpe boast an all-English heat leader trio in the shape of veteran David Howe , the exciting Josh Auty and the emerging Ashley Birks . They are backed up by Scandanavians Thomas Jorgensen and Michael Palm Tree with rookie reserve Ryan Douglas and recent acquisition Lewis Blackbird making up the septet . So it has all the makings of another classic . Teams should be - Glasgow 1 Joe Screen 2 Henning Bager 3 James Wright 4 Joey Ringwood 5 James Grieves 6 Harley Horwood 7 Joe Jacobs Scunthorpe 1 Josh Auty 2 Thomas Jorgensen 3 Michael Palm Tree 4 Ashley Birks 5 David Howe 6 Ryan Douglas 7 Lewis Blackbird Another close run thing looks on the cards , let's hope it's as entertaining as last week . Last time at Ashy 24/6/12 Glasgow 55 Grieves 13+2(5) Screen 13+1(5)O'Malley 7+1(4) Campton 7+1(4) Sitera 6+1(4)Mills 5+1(4) Grajczonek 4 (4) Scunthorpe 38 Henry (guest) 13(5) Auty 12(5)Doolan (guest) 5 Birks 4+1(7)Aarnio 2+1(3) Palm Tree 2(6) Armstrong r/r
