  1. Once the early morning haze burns away , it will be a lovely afternoon . Obviously the Comets will fancy their chances of all 4 points , and all recent form suggests that . But our boys will be fired up to end this terrible run we're on . C'mon the stripes .
  2. Yes you really feel so sorry for the team on the receiving end of an 8-1
  3. Yes , the Croatian national football team know all about that
  4. So a fortnight after our home humiliation at the hands of " the beast from the east " , the meetings don't get any easier for our misfiring Tigers . Since the Edinburgh match we've lost the services of James Wright , who has seemingly fell out of love with the sport and has looked a shadow of his former self , and we've lost Joey Ringwood to injury which happened in that crash with Mitchell Davey . So it's Scunthorpe's impressive Ashley Birks guesting for Wright , and r/r for Ringwood . But we'll have to raise our game dramatically to get anywhere near the Comets . Couple of ex-Tigers in the Comets' ranks in the shape of Rusty Harrison , Chris Mills . And of course there's his holiness , the Son of God Richard Lawson who also is joint track record holder . Really is about time he took up his birthright . How Workington cope without their early season hero , Micky Dyer , will tell us if they can challenge for a play off place , but going by the way Glasgow have seemed to have lost their way , they must be strong favourites to claim all 4 points on offer tomorrow . Teams for Sunday - Glasgow 1Joe Screen 2 r/r for Joey Ringwood 3 Ashley Birks (guest ) 4 Henning Bager 5 James Grieves 6 Harley Horwood 7 Joe Jacobs Workington 1 Son of God 2 r/r for Terrible Aarnio 3 Rusty Harrison 4 Kyle Howarth 5 Rene Bach 6 Ashley Morris 7 Chris Mills With a favourable weather forecast , we should see quite a few clad in blue and white on the back straight tomorrow . And on all known form they should be the ones celebrating come 5 o clock .
  5. Cant see why not . James is , in reality , with-holding his services . R/R for the away meetings at Plymouth and Leicester , and the home meeting with Workington , next weekend would seem our only option . After that the new averages will kick in , then we'll see where we are , who's available and who's affordable .
  6. Two 3 pointers never works , regardless of how strong the top five is . We went down that road in 2004 and finished 11th .
  7. Spot on . 30 point plus home defeats gets tracks closed down .
  8. You think that was bad , you should have seen us at home today
  9. Probably still have hit 60 against my mob even if you had
  10. Joking aside that was the worst ever home performance i've seen from a Tigers team in my life . Woeful doesn't come close to describing it . A score like that would be bad enough at the dump , but at home Joe Screen cant take on teams on his own , especially not teams as good as the binmen . Today , sadly , highlighted the gulf between the two Scottish sides . Looked a pretty decent crowd in the stadium today as well , despite the Scottish Cup final and Cyclone not being able to make it . Plenty thinking to be done in our camp ahead of our next home meeting against Workington in a fortnight . We've been patient , we've praised our new promotion for their efforts to make the club a success and we've backed the team . After this weekend's toothless performances , that team has come to the end of the road . Who we can attract ? Who is available ? And are they affordable ? Is something messers Biggart , Pairman and the directors will have to address before the season implodes and the Red Revolution bandwagon comes off it's wheels .
  11. Dont think we can attach any blame to the track , we could have had this meeting in Bydgoszcz and the result would have been the same . We are just not competative away from home , simple as that
  12. I'm getting heartily sick of whinging Edinburgh fans moaning about the staging date / start time / time of the month / full moon , whatever . Today the weather has to be warm and sunny , okay there's a football match on but true speedway fans wont care about that . I hope there's a large contingent of Monarchs fans at Ashfield tomorrow , there's a better than even chance that they'll see their team win . But if they think it's going to be too difficult or would rather not bother , then such is life - it's their loss . Personally i think today's meeting will be a cracker and i hope the stay at homes enjoy the Antiques Roadshow or whatever other nonsense might be on the telly .
  13. On a night where the Workington reserves scored nearly as much as my team put together , it was a painful night being a Glasgow fan watching that . Even allowing for the fact that the Comets were strengthened to almost ridiculous proportions , we were abysmal . Seeing the white and yellow helmets trailing in almost half a lap behind , race after race , made us thank our lucky stars we'd had a good drink in Cockermouth beforehand . We were completely and utterly outclassed tonight . Only Screen and Jacobs can hold their head up tonight . James Wright used to bang in double figure scores round Derwent Park for fun once upon a time , tonight you'd have thought he'd never seen the place before . As for Bager , well ................... The Comets fans who just like to see 5-1's must have enjoyed tonight , but for ordinary speedway fans it was complete torture . Glasgow away from home is as about as entertaining as Eastenders on a depressing night . Dont get me wrong , the new Glasgow promotion are doing a lot of things right , our bus down to Workington today was partially subsidised by the promotion . But the days of Glasgow carrying a decent travelling support around the country must be in danger of ending should this level of mediocrity be allowed to continue . I love my club , with a passion , but nights like this make me wonder why i bother .
  14. I think it's actually hilarious . Just highlights how farcical the guest system can be . You have two journeyman riders , Aarnio and Mills , two steady PL riders , but as good as they're ever going to be . And they have been replaced by two of the most improved and promising riders in the PL this year , Tabaka and Dyer . It might only be for one night , thankfully for the rest of the league , but would a team consisting of Lawson , Tabaka , Bach , r/r , Harrison , Kerr and Dyer actually lose any meetings home or away . I somehow don't think so . If and when we reach the 20 mark tonight , possibly round about heat 12 or 13 , we'll do a conga on the back straight .
  15. Hahaha , we'd be lucky to get 30 at Ashfield against this side , never mind down there . Hope they're down to normal strength when they come up to ours in early June .
  16. Are you i'm going too , but still trying to work out why I know it's all above board and i know the speedway star averages include bonus points etc , but on 2013 form . Terrible Aarnio 7.12 - Tobacco Joe 8.48 . Chris Mills 5.91 - Micky Dyer 8.74 . Ashley Morris 5.22 - Lewis Kerr 7.13 . Plus they all can have a r/r ride lol . So we thought we were onto a hiding with the normal Comets septet , but this line up would romp the Premier League . I think i might have to have a few in Cockermouth beforehand to numb the pain
  17. Third time lucky for our first visit from the binmen this season . Twice we've tried and twice the rain has said no , but the forecast is pretty good this Sunday . The mob from the East are now beginning to get into their stride and are now beginning to batter all before them . Impossible to beat on their own , erm , technical circuit , Plymouth last Saturday became the first away league win on their quest to fulfil their pre-season status as title favourites . Craig Cook has started 2013 as impressive as he finished 2012 , but he has plenty of support from the latest septet in blue and gold . While they are flying high , we come into this meeting wounded after last week's home reverse and likely thumping at the PL select side in Cumbria on Saturday evening . But even though this is a dead rubber as far as League Cup qualification goes , there's never a meaningless meeting between the Tigers and The Forces of Evil . Sunday's teams - Plucky Underdogs 1 Joe Screen 2 Henning Bager 3 James Wright 4 Joey Ringwood 5 James Grieves 6 Harley Horwood 7 Joe Jacobs THEM 1 Craig Cook 2 Desperate Deek 3 Theo Pijper 4 The Golden Child 5 Claus Vissing 6 Mitchell Davey 7 Tobacco Joe No predictions necessary , let's just turn the form book on it's head and bring this mob down a peg or two .
  18. Workington's guests make them much stronger on Saturday
  19. This was going to be a tough meeting for us , but since the Comets have turned into the PL all stars - it looks impossible now . We go there in the hope that Derwent Park suits our new Aussies , and James Wright remembers how good he used to be round there , but with the guests Workington have drafted in for the likes of Mills , we'll be lucky to reach 30 .
  20. Last Friday Nicolai Klindt guested in place of Jason Doyle for Somerset . The reason being that Doyle was down to ride for Birmingham and the Somerset meeting was a rearranged fixture . Last night Lindgren was down to ride for his Swedish club as the Newcastle meeting was a rearranged fixture . Explain to me the difference between these two cases and why you think Lindgren and Newcastle should be fined ?
  21. Thoroughly enjoyed last night's meeting , great track and some cracking racing . It was nip and tuck with Berwick just edging it until Paul Starke's unpleasant actions . There's nothing worse in annoying your average speedway fan than what Starke did last night , but as it turned out his actions only seemed to fire up the Diamonds even more and they ran out comfortable winners . I honestly didn't mind who won the meeting until that incident , then i was all for the visitors . Just as baffling was the apparent disappearance of Eddie Kennett in the two races the Bandits were depending on him the most . Still despite the contraversy it was a terrific meeting and another triumph for the Premier League .
