I've got a feeling that Andy Smith did miss 2002. When Oxford signed him in 2003 (firstly for the BLC, then for the CL (!), and then for the EL), I'm sure he'd missed the previous year. All the best Rob

Moggo missed 1998, so did 25 seasons (1981-1997, 1999-2006). All the best Rob

Peterborough Panthers 2018

That seems to be a reason to LIKE Peterborough Speedway rather than dislike them. Well it was if you were an Oxford or Swindon fan. All the best Rob -
Jack Biggs' British career spanned 1947 to 1970... 24 years. And that certainly wasn't his whole career. He was killed in action in Australia in 1972 at the age of 50. Not sure when he started racing in Australia - can anyone provide the year? All the best Rob EDIT Rob Hollingworth made his league debut for Berwick in 1973. His final league season was at Boston in 2005. There was a gap in the middle.

Would you like some fish to go with that monster-sized chip? I doubt very much if Redcar are receiving a sizeable bung for the absence of Perks or Andersen - which was the primary rule broken by the current Peterborough promoter. I do agree that a team using SIX guests plus R/R is ridiculous does nothing for speedway's credibility. All the best Rob

Sgp Wildcards 2018
lucifer sam replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think it should be: 1. Greg Hancock 2. Nicki Pedersen if they think he’s fit enough. NKI otherwise. 3. Vaclav Milik 4. Andzejs Lebedevs The only other rider who should be considered is Vaculik. With a strong enough showing in Australia, he could grab the place of Milik or Lebedevs. All the best Rob -

No, it was definitely Colin Horton. Around £50,000 in the end. You have to admit, it wasn't your most sensible question. The answer was such an obvious no. All the best Rob -

You're now on an alternative planet. I've always liked Peterborough Speedway - nice racetrack, and have fond memories of fours finals. I couldn't stand Colin Horton, though, and couldn't understand why you continued to stick up for him, even when it was obvious that Hans Andersen wasn't getting paid. I'm sure those forum posts are still around here somewhere. Don't repeat that same mistake again... All the best Rob -

No, I just care about the future of speedway, including Peterborough Speedway. Still, we all know what an excellent judge of character that you are? After all, you continued to stick up for Colin Horton long after everyone else had given up… All the best Rob -

In that if there was a grain of truth in what he said yesterday, he would have surely revealed it before now. The date of the fours was August 6th. In the meantime, he's had his licence suspended and taken part in a tribunal. Surely you'd reveal it at one of those points. If there was any truth in it. Mind you, if you really want to be that gullible... All the best Rob -

Well, we've certainly had none of those from the current Peterborough promoter, who now seems to be trying to rewrite history. All the best Rob -

If this had genuinely happened, you would have thought that Rathbone would have said so at either at time, or at the time he was suspended, rather than leave it until now. He's been less than complete with the truth at least once, that is, when he announced the heavy fine without revealing that the size of the fine actually matched the size of the bung received from Poland. All the best Rob -
Ah, sorry you're adopting the tried-and-trusted 'Edinburgh technique' of claiming to be the under-dogs, so that when you win the cup, you can claim it was an against-all-odds success. In that case, Peterborough are firm favourites, and Ippo are massive outsiders. Happy now? All the best Rob

Not really, they got beaten at Scunny recently (almost managed to lose it on aggregate), and we've lost more home meetings then we won this year. I don't think home and away wins against a poor Workington side and beating Edinburgh at home makes them 'the in-form team'. It's touch-and-go whether Peterborough will beat Glasgow on aggregate, while Ippo should beat either of those two over two legs. Ippo's cup this year, I reckon, with Greaves the trump card. What Would You Change In Speedway Next Season?
lucifer sam replied to 4thbender's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Or maybe Swindon for the SGB Championship Fours on the Sunday. Not too far up the road. EDIT: Although ideally, I'd like the Fours WEEKEND back at Peterborough. That was a lot of fun last year. And we'd convinced a lot more people to come along this year, only for them not to do it. All the best Rob -
Didn't see the second part. Not that it makes a difference - Glasgow still have the priority, as stated in 19.9.3: 19.9.3 Where a rider is additionally declared in a SGB Premiership or Championship League team, the SGB Premiership or Championship League Team shall have priority, except that a rider nominated for the NDLRC must appear in the NDLRC. A member of the management committee accidentally gave approval for Bewley to ride for Belle Vue over Edinburgh last year. That was one reason Scunthorpe's protest was turned down - the other being the timing of the protest. But 19.9.3 should actually stand, as long as it's pointed out in time. Fortunately, Glasgow have enough time to make sure the rules are properly upheld in this case. All the best Rob

And now Belle Vue are trying to steal Bewley and Smith away from you on Friday to ride for the Colts: https://twitter.com/TheAces/status/914815887764533249?s=04 Glasgow have priority on their services. All the best Rob

No, they won't be: 19.9.3 Where a rider is additionally declared in a SGB Premiership or Championship League team, the SGB Premiership or Championship League Team shall have priority, except that a rider nominated for the NDLRC must appear in the NDLRC. Unless it's the NDLRC at the NSS on Friday, then they ride for Glasgow on Friday. All the best Rob
