  1. Well I was stood just beneath the ref's box and I felt it was rather obvious that Ryan took a heavy knock from Schlein. The race really should have been stopped, with Schlein excluded. Having said that, we also had a couple of refereeing decisions go our way. The ref was consistently rubbish! Scorpions undone by a brilliant performance by King and that surprise result to Heat 12. All the best Rob
  2. If the World Cup is anything to go by, then Madsen is unable to perform on the big stage. Still NKI for me. Unless Nicki P can get back to fitness. All the best Rob
  3. Well, it's now midday. Any sign of the two guests for Peterborough? All the best Rob
  4. Doh! Not sure what happened there - now corrected. Are the Massif heading to the EWR today? All the best Rob
  5. Forecast looks absolutely fine for the rest of the day as well. I'm setting off from Oxfordshire just before 2pm. All the best Rob
  6. SCORPIONS LOOKING FOR HOME COMFORT HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are looking to build on their “best result of the season” when they host third-placed Ipswich Witches in a SGB Championship encounter at the Eddie Wright Raceway tomorrow (Sunday, 5.30pm). Last Saturday, Scorpions took a superb 50-43 victory at Workington, their first win at Derwent Park since 1980. Lewis Kerr (10+2), Tero Aarnio (10) and Michael Palm Toft (9+1) were the top scores in a very solid performance by the Scorpions, with new signing Jake Allen contributing 6+3. However, Scorpions must go into action against Witches without Allen, since the Australian, who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Friday, broke two small bones in his wrist, while riding at Somerset on Wednesday. Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We’ve had a lot of misfortune this season, and Jake’s injury is the latest chapter of that. He’d done such a good job for us so far, scoring paid nine at Workington and then top-scoring for Scorpions in the fours at Peterborough. “We’re hoping he won’t be out for long, while our only option against Ipswich on Sunday is to use rider replacement in his absence. “However, we must be positive, and look to the fact that his rides can be taken by Josh Auty, Ryan Douglas and our reserves, and they all had good meetings in our victory at Workington last week.” Ipswich Witches, who have a very potent spearhead in former British Champion Danny King and Australian international Rory Schlein, won a thriller at the Eddie Wright Raceway in May, winning by 46-44, and Sunday’s encounter promises to be another humdinger. Godfrey comments: “It’s going to be tough because Ipswich are a good side who are very much on course to claim one of the four play-off spots. But the boys are very upbeat after the win at Workington, which was our best result of the season. “Momentum is a big thing in speedway and we’ll be looking to maintain that. “We’ve shown what we can do when the boys all perform to their capabilities, and we can do that again.” There are 21 heats of action in total on Sunday, including a six-heat second half Northern Junior League match between Halifax Dukes and Northside Stars. Admission prices for Sunday: Adult: £15.00 Student/OAP: £13.00 Child (10 – 17): £5.00 Child (0 – 9) Free (accompanied by paying adult) Family Ticket £35 (2 adults, 2 Children 10-17) Match Programme: £1.00 Expected teams for Sunday: Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Michael Palm Toft (captain), 2. Rider replacement for Jake Allen, 3. Lewis Kerr, 4. Ryan Douglas, 5. Josh Auty, 6. Tero Aarnio, 7. Josh Bailey. Ipswich Witches: 1. Danny King, 2. Kyle Newman, 3. Cameron Heeps, 4. Rider replacement for Justin Sedgmen, 5. Rory Schlein, 6. Nathan Greaves, 7. Connor Mountain. Northern Junior League teams: Halifax Dukes: 1. Kean Dicken, 2. Joe Lawlor, 3. Jordan Palin, 4. Harry McGurk. Northside Stars: 1. James Hitchin, 2. Lewis Millar, 3. Corban Pavitt, 4. Gregor Millar.
  7. Brilliant racing tonight. Malilla is the best racetrack in the Grand Prix series. It's why I've been out there four times. All the best Rob
  8. I think it would have been further handbags. Neither Hancock nor Pedersen hit me as a trained fighter. As for Greg, whether you like him or not, it's obvious that he should be given a wildcard for next year.... should he want one, of course! He could decide to call time. We'll see. All the best Rob
  9. On a recent Travel Plus Tours trip to the World Cup, around 100 fans got the chance to have a brief 10-minute audience with Woffy before his Sunday PL meeting with Wroclaw. I would say it was 90/10 in favour of Tai before he spoke. Afterwards, he only seemed to have one detractor left, and it seemed to be 99/1. It's not 50/50 by a long, long way. Most fans are in support of Woffy. He is, after all, the only truly World Class British rider at this moment in time. All the best Rob
  10. 1. Per Jonsson 2. Dave Mullett (these two are at 1 & 2 for a reason - Racers & Royals, how many 5-1s was it over the 1992 season?) 3. Todd Wiltshire 4. Jan Andersson 5. Anders Michanek 6. Bobby Schwartz 7. Jeremy Doncaster All the best Rob
  11. Now got one. August Bank Holiday Monday (3pm) is now: Scorpions v Newcastle followed by: Scorpions v Workington All the best Rob
  12. Blimey, Rob G must have a very powerful crystal ball to know at the start of the season that Cookie would have been missing on Sunday through a bad back. Or that Sarj would get hurt. Who else was missing, Jenga? All the best Rob
  13. Ah, the wind-up merchant is back. Sadly, he's not a very good one. All the best Rob
  14. I don't think it had anything to do with the BSPA. They simply seem to have turned down Ippo's illegal team. At the end of the day, it is down to the promoter to know the basic team-building rules. All the best Rob
  15. It is simple. A multiple team change is actually a set of 1-for-1 changes all being done together. You can stay above the points limit, as long as each 1-for-1 change is legal. I can't see how it can be much simpler. All the best Rob
  16. The rules are simple in terms of multiple team changes (e.g. 2 for 2) and have been the same for years! All the best Rob
  17. Tungate & Jacobs? How??? Jacobs' average is clearly above that of Connor Mountain? All the best Rob
  18. If Ippo were doing a 2-for-2, did they realise that both riders had to have a lower average for the rider they were replacing, or if not, then they had to come back under the points limit? Something has clearly gone wrong. All the best Rob
  19. Blimey, still not a sausage; not even a quick explanation to the delay on twitter. All the best Rob
  20. Was it 8pm today or 8pm tomorrow? All the best Rob
