  1. No, I just care about the future of speedway, including Peterborough Speedway. Still, we all know what an excellent judge of character that you are? After all, you continued to stick up for Colin Horton long after everyone else had given up… All the best Rob
  2. In that if there was a grain of truth in what he said yesterday, he would have surely revealed it before now. The date of the fours was August 6th. In the meantime, he's had his licence suspended and taken part in a tribunal. Surely you'd reveal it at one of those points. If there was any truth in it. Mind you, if you really want to be that gullible... All the best Rob
  3. Well, we've certainly had none of those from the current Peterborough promoter, who now seems to be trying to rewrite history. All the best Rob
  4. If this had genuinely happened, you would have thought that Rathbone would have said so at either at time, or at the time he was suspended, rather than leave it until now. He's been less than complete with the truth at least once, that is, when he announced the heavy fine without revealing that the size of the fine actually matched the size of the bung received from Poland. All the best Rob
  5. Ah, sorry you're adopting the tried-and-trusted 'Edinburgh technique' of claiming to be the under-dogs, so that when you win the cup, you can claim it was an against-all-odds success. In that case, Peterborough are firm favourites, and Ippo are massive outsiders. Happy now? All the best Rob
  6. Not really, they got beaten at Scunny recently (almost managed to lose it on aggregate), and we've lost more home meetings then we won this year. I don't think home and away wins against a poor Workington side and beating Edinburgh at home makes them 'the in-form team'. It's touch-and-go whether Peterborough will beat Glasgow on aggregate, while Ippo should beat either of those two over two legs. Ippo's cup this year, I reckon, with Greaves the trump card. All the best Rob
  7. Pat Clarke (Oxford) won the final. All the best Rob
  8. No it doesn't. It's ONLY the Riders' Championship. It's there in black-and-white. All the best Rob
  9. We have our disagreements, but not over this one. The rulebook is pretty firm - Championship (and Premiership) take priority over NL except the Riders' Championship. The riders should be at Glasgow tomorrow, not Belle Vue. Otherwise why bother having a rulebook. All the best Rob
  10. Or maybe Swindon for the SGB Championship Fours on the Sunday. Not too far up the road. EDIT: Although ideally, I'd like the Fours WEEKEND back at Peterborough. That was a lot of fun last year. And we'd convinced a lot more people to come along this year, only for them not to do it. All the best Rob
  11. Back from Blunsdon. 7.30pm tonight. Where's Rosco? In the pits, making sure everything is OK with his riders? Or prancing about on the centre green, being interviewed and waving at the fans? Complete complacency from Robins. Deserved to lose. All the best Rob
  12. Didn't see the second part. Not that it makes a difference - Glasgow still have the priority, as stated in 19.9.3: 19.9.3 Where a rider is additionally declared in a SGB Premiership or Championship League team, the SGB Premiership or Championship League Team shall have priority, except that a rider nominated for the NDLRC must appear in the NDLRC. A member of the management committee accidentally gave approval for Bewley to ride for Belle Vue over Edinburgh last year. That was one reason Scunthorpe's protest was turned down - the other being the timing of the protest. But 19.9.3 should actually stand, as long as it's pointed out in time. Fortunately, Glasgow have enough time to make sure the rules are properly upheld in this case. All the best Rob
  13. And now Belle Vue are trying to steal Bewley and Smith away from you on Friday to ride for the Colts: https://twitter.com/TheAces/status/914815887764533249?s=04 Glasgow have priority on their services. All the best Rob
  14. No, they won't be: 19.9.3 Where a rider is additionally declared in a SGB Premiership or Championship League team, the SGB Premiership or Championship League Team shall have priority, except that a rider nominated for the NDLRC must appear in the NDLRC. Unless it's the NDLRC at the NSS on Friday, then they ride for Glasgow on Friday. All the best Rob
  15. Yes, again it's the tip of the iceberg. It needs to be strangled at birth, before it becomes a regular thing. As for the doubling-up monster, we are stuck with it, although it could be reigned in and then restricted to riders with an ACU license only. All the best Rob
  16. You didn't look very hard. And why press the send button twice - just wait a few seconds for it to add! I assume you'll take just another few seconds to delete the duplicated threads? All the best Rob
  17. Yeah, it's got ridiculous. As much as I'd like them to scrap doubling up completely, I think it needs to be gradually phased out. The temporary solution is Monday and Thursday for the top league, and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for our league. And no-one riding in our league is allowed to sign for a Polish side - that needs to be in the contract. Plus you have to be out injured for a week. You can't ride one night, be injured the next, and miraculously recover the night after. All the best Rob
  18. So Peterborough have called off a meeting in advance, partially due to the forecast? No complaints from me, but there's a certain irony, given the comments of one or two of Panthers' fans elsewhere. The early call-off is just as well today. With both teams well below strength, due to Polish commitments of Jack Holder and Erik Riss, it would have been something of a farce. All the best Rob
  19. Crowds for regular meetings would be the same whether you have play-offs or not. Crowds took a massive dip during the 1990s, before play-offs were introduced. The play-offs at the end of the season simply mean the teams get a chance of a bumper crowd. Take the away the play-offs and that opportunity is lost. All the best Rob
  20. Congratulations Sheffield, deserving league champions. All the best Rob
  21. So why hasn't Mitchell Davey, who completed his meeting on Saturday, been given a similar ban? All the best Rob
  22. You always get a few dinosaurs, whatever the sport. Play-offs pack in the crowds and therefore must stay. It makes no economic sense to scrap the few speedway meetings that, probably, actually do make money. All the best Rob
  23. I would say "Be careful you don't catch Mad Cow Disease", but who would spot the difference? Be noisy on the back straight tonight! All the best Rob
  24. How does giving your entire team food poisoning help you win? All the best Rob
