Ipswich v Belle Vue 27th March KOC 2nd leg
Aries replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The Ipswich boys looked so quick last night. Emil stuffed up his gate in heat 13 but then went between Kurtz and Bewley off bend two like a hot knife through butter. You could visibly see more banking on the track as soon as we got there. As speedy says, we’ll get a better idea once the Witches boys start missing the gate a bit more. -

Doyle’s the most dominant home rider in the league. Even taking the GSA without bonus’ he’s over a point clear of his nearest challenger who is Kurtz. Foxhall is Doyle’s back yard, he’s made it his fortress and he absolutely hates getting beat around there. He gets beat occasionally of course he does, but his reaction to that defeat says it all! Parks his bike on the stock track, rips out his cut out and storms in to his pit bay throwing his helmet around 😁 Hates being beaten there with a passion and it’s something I love to see. -

Kurtz in particular is improving in that department IMO. You need to have more strings to your bow than being very good and dialled in around the NSS and that’s where both Kurtz and Bewley have been found wanting. But they’ve both started to get more consistent and better away from home and that’s reflected in the averages. Wouldn’t be at all surprised to see that improvement continue this year and Kurtz topping the Premiership averages. Only question marks are the GP’s and whether that takes his eye off the ball here a little. -

We had a great couple of days last week practicing and catching up with everyone again. Now it is time for the real business to start. The track was awesome last week, and you can really see the effort, Bob (Ellis) and Chris (Louis) and all the track staff have put in over the winter to improve it. I’m sure it will provide a great racetrack, and we have got some great racers here on Thursday. Found this bit interesting on the meeting preview. They’ve worked hard on sorting the Camber over the winter to try and improve the racing so it’ll be interesting to watch on Thursday to see if there’s much improvement there. -

They did but different teams to be fair. First time out that year Ipswich had an out of his depth Joe Thompson with three duck eggs, Hume partnered him at reserve, Riss was toiling in the main body With his brain fog illness and Rew who was finding his feet in British Speedway. Belle Vue had Lidsey at reserve for the first meeting, and Brennan at reserve for the second victory! Completely different kettle of fish this time around. Ipswich did then batter them by 18 in the semi that year also. I don’t expect them to get close on Thursday but we’ll see. -

Think the pressure is off Danny now in a strange way. In the past he’s been third heat leader and fans were expecting him to throw in good scores everywhere. These days he’s now the fifth strongest rider of the top five in reality despite a similar average to Ellis, and the expectations of him will be lowered. Riding at two, he just needs to contribute and chip in with five or six points and it’s job done. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him drop to reserve at some point this year as I’m sure Dan will score consistently well down at reserve. Other teams make a better fist of things here than we do but that’s because while some clubs have a few who struggle around here in their teams, we seem to have the majority of the team that struggle around here. -
Some are clearly not all that bothered and just going through the motions.

There is absolutely no excuse for that lack of professionalism. Others manage it, so why can’t Lynn? The whole idea of press day in particular is to get the team photos done and promote the bloody sport! Can’t do that if riders don’t bother turning up 🙄 Pathetic.

Think it’s always the same with these two legged ties, keep it to a maximum of 10 points and you’ve a chance of going through. Any closer is a bonus. -

Pretty bloody obvious what his point was ffs 🙄 No need to be arsey -
Very few. He can’t be bothered with them usually and he makes no secret of that. A few clubs he’s ridden for though have insisted he turns up or else. Ipswich was one of them.

Don’t expect Emil and Doyle to outscore Kurtz and Bewley combined around here so we need to be winning the battles in other areas of the team, namely reserve. Just want to see us put up some sort of resistance here for a change. The record is embarrassing. -
Powerhouse of a team when you look at it like that. That engine room of Ellis and Brennan looks as though it could be fruitful. Strong at reserve also. If it stays injury free I can’t see anyone to touch it.

They’re literally the same as last year except the yellow cuts off a little sooner and is not a full stripe 😆
