Belle Vue Aces vs Kings Lynn Stars 10/8/26
Aries replied to Garry1603's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Going off topic apologies but while we’re reminiscing, can anyone remember the ITV programme “Wheels” presented by Gerry Harrison? Think it was Thursday late evenings and Speedway used to feature heavily on that programme from National League to top flight and even individuals. For some reason Henka cleaning up at Lynn in the Barham trophy on one occasion sticks in the old memory. -

The Coventry British final days will live long in the memory. Fantastic occasions, fantastic line ups, and the title meant far more then (or seemed to) than it does now sadly. Great day out and the only day out that came close for me, was the fours finals at Peterborough. -

Not every meeting can be a thriller even at the NSS! An average/poor meeting is an anomaly here. But, get rid of the bloody laydowns and bring back uprights 🙄 -
Don’t see why they wouldn’t be Paul. Amongst all the doom and gloom, Northampton has gone under the radar a bit. Very late to the party, no choice but to put together a weak team of leftovers, bound to finish bottom and yet by all accounts the crowds are still holding up well. Seems to be a lot of potential here for a much needed success story. Will be interesting to see what team they can put together this winter when they have the same opportunity as everyone else.

Decent race. Good effort from the “Noxes” though. 😁

Expect them to be MUCH more competitive, just like Ipswich. Will be an interesting winter team building wise.

Premiership 2027 - Are You Interested??
Aries replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I don’t disagree, but if the plan is to water it down further and make it “semi pro”, then they’ll lose another paying customer. Not interested. -
Not really 😂
-
Or get Woryna over earlier, give him a couple of Foxhall meetings to get a feel for the place before next year. Then sign another up to and including 4.91. Woryna, King, Brennan and Musielak would be decent.
-
You can. You can either re-declare a new full one to six up to and including 37, or replace individual riders like for like.

I have zero interest in that personally. They can crack on though if that’s the plan. -
You can’t. Only if the full one to six collectively comes under the 37 points limit. Otherwise it’s like for like on an individual basis. You can’t just add up Lawson’s and Nicholls combined average and then bring in another two up to that figure. It has to be a single replacement for Lawson up to his GSA, and a single replacement for Nicholls up to his current GSA.
-
Not sure what the total team average is currently but you can’t just add the two averages together and bring in a new duo up to the combined average of the two they’re replacing. It would have to be done individually, a replacement for Lawson up to and including his current GSA, and the same for Nicholls. Emil doesn’t have a work visa anyway and there’s zero chance they could or would get a new one just for a few meetings.
-
Double change potentially on the cards then maybe. We’ll see. Didn’t look to be that heavy of a fall but my view at the time wasn’t the best. He’s at an age now where the old bones break that bit easier.
-
Not sure we’ll see him again this year but we’ll see. Might be case of just limping to the line with R/R for the last few meetings and then see what next year brings.
-
They’re finishing bottom whatever so it makes sense to me. Neither Batchelor or Zagar are the future and neither will feature next year. Makes sense to get a couple in with a view to next season. Haven’t followed Ellis vigorously this year, but every time I check in and look at the Polish scores at the weekend, he seems to be top scoring and riding really well. I expect him to be a pain on Thursday, rides Foxhall really well.
-
True, good point.
-
Nope he doesn’t. Not sure chucking him in and seeing him struggle badly will help his shattered confidence much either. Let’s see if moving away from #1 helps him recover somewhat.
-
Sorry to be defeatist GM but I’m not the slightest bit bothered whether we get fourth or not this year. Lynn can have it. Neither club is getting close to Belle Vue over two legs. To be fair, none of us expected to with the team we were forced to put together.

It’s Northampton we’re riding Thursday norbold.

More over exaggerated hyperbole on the BSF? Surely not!

Lodz GP round 7 Saturday 1st August
Aries replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Then I disagree with you on him deliberately trying to fence somebody. Over exuberance maybe at times, sure, but not deliberately dirty. I said myself earlier on in this thread that he was hard on a couple of riders on the first bend, taking Kurtz out to the fence and stopping his run being one of them. I stopped short of calling it naughty because he didn’t deliberately try to take Kurtz off, just hard riding. He’s clearly a determined racer who if he sees a gap, is going to pin the throttle and go for it. He’s lit up this years GP series for me and is THE rider I want to watch at the moment above all the others. I bet I’m far from alone in that either. IF he ends up back in British Speedway next year, he’ll add numbers to the gate of every track he visits, guaranteed. -

I personally much prefer the measured response from those in commentary than the over exaggerated hyperbole that is typical of this forum sadly. Woryna was rightly excluded, he was the cause of the stoppage. But he didn’t “fence” anybody or “try to kill them” 🙄 -

You talking about Niki Pedersen here or Woryna?
