Kings Lynn v Ipswich 4th September
Aries replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
“Also, the boys and our supporters have been messed around heavily with both of our league meetings at King’s Lynn being postponed at late notice for nonsense reasons outside of our control, so there is an added motivation that everyone who still takes their time to travel to King’s Lynn leaves happy.” Pulling no punches there! And fair enough as well. Ipswich should win this at a canter . As good as Lambert is, Emil is simply better. Doyle is better than Palm Toft at 5 and you’d expect the middle order of King and Riss to comfortably get the better of Breum and Mountain. The reserves are the only area you can see the Stars getting any joy although Rew dropping down there is capable of beating both Simon Lambert and Rowe. Witches by 10. -
Would you like to do this now Joe? Or wait until the season has officially ended?

Bert and Ernie on radio Cambridgeshire last night were waxing lyrical about how “professional and pristine” Laguta’s equipment looked before the start..

Leicester v Sheffield 26th August 6.30pm.
Aries replied to tocha's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well this has put a spoke in the pigeon! Leicester have 4 left to Ipswich’ 1. I can’t see Leicester winning any of the three away fixtures at Belle Vue, Wolves or Peterborough. Lynn at home you’d think they pick up the three points. Ipswich last meeting away to Lynn where they’ve already won comfortably recently. Ipswich now slight favourites? -
Clueless. Been three times to Ipswich this year and there was great racing in every meeting. Track wasn’t “slick” in any of them.
-
Any need to be such a condescending prick? You come across as a right ar$ehole!
-
What’s that got to do with him postponing this meeting because he’s missing a couple of riders? Totally irrelevant.
-
Why must there be more to it and why is it always Lynn and Buster with the drama? Who else has postponed meetings for any reason other than the weather? The bloke lies about heart attacks, lies about broken pit gates because he’s missing a few Danish lads, and has form (as shown above) for postponing meetings in the past for not legitimate reasons for postponing meetings! The bloke is a pi$$ taker pure and simple. That’s Busters problem and down to him to reimburse those affected! You don’t run the meeting you forfeit the meeting simple as that.

Interesting looking at the rider averages over all 2023 meetings. Home Doyle 11.00 GSA 10.50. Emil 10.53 GSA 9.80 Away Doyle 8.63 GSA 7.84. Emil 10.90 GSA 10.35 Just shows how dominant Doyle is around Foxhall whilst struggling a little by his standards away, whilst Emil has been slightly better away from Foxhall but dominant just about everywhere!

Panthers Vs Witches Prem 7th August 2023
Aries replied to Panther1997's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Doyle may not have been at his best, but he produced the best moment of the meeting. His move from last to second going between Harris and Iversen in heat 13 was absolutely glorious. -
Eh? Why? Peterborough didn’t do enough to earn a draw so a draw wouldn’t have been a fair result in any way shape or form. Certainly not for Ipswich! Strange thing to say.

Understandable from the new boy, but I’d be far more disappointed in Iversen for the same reason. A win and paid win in his first two, then only one more point from his last three rides. -
Absolutely hate the use of a tactical for the home side. It’s difficult enough as it is to win away from home, tacticals should be either the away side only, or none at all.
-
Ipswich still have the Riss effect though so probably not.
-
I find that offensive. I still attend meetings up and down the country and still thoroughly enjoy it. I don’t consider myself a “gullible fool” either.
-
Think Ipswich will do better than last time out. They were beaten by 12 last month with Barker and Rew scoring 2 between them, Rew a big fat zero. You’d expect a better return from Rew and now Riss this time around whilst the top 3 will again accumulate the bulk of the points. Sheffield for the win, but with Ipswich defending a 12 point lead, Ipswich for the bonus point.
-
Give over. He’ll know EVERYTHING that is going on at Peterborough, he’ll just be more honest about it.
-
Got to fancy Wolves here. Zach Cook was exceptional there last time out and clearly took to the track like a duck to water. Nicholls definitely strengthens them, and then you’ve got Masters and Schlein who go very well here also. Witches have too many flaky riders bar the top two. Rew has shown he can go quite well at Foxhall, but he also shown more often that he’s pants. Hume can get a race win against Bewley, but then run a couple of lasts losing to rising stars. Question marks remain also on Riss. Away win for me.

People aren’t seriously paying attention to who scored what in a testimonial meeting surely?
-
What do you mean “just a pot in the Cupboard”? It’s sport, that’s what it’s all about isn’t it? I’ve already conceded the financial part, as far as I know there’s no financial gain from winning it, but it’s still not “pointless” or “worthless” is it? I don’t understand some of you who downplay winning a league title. Whether it’s football, cricket, tiddlywinks or Speedway, if it’s your club you want to see them successful surely? And I think it IS important as far as sponsorship goes. I remember reading pre-season the thoughts of Chris Louis who said how lucky he was that the club was very well backed by excellent sponsors, but those sponsors want to be associated with a successful club, not failure and he has to deliver for them as well as the fans. Ask Guy Nicholls if Ipswich winning the league is important to him.
