Rye House V Plymouth League Cup 5 April

Absolutely delighted for the Devils riders and management, all of whom took flak after the AFC meeting against the Rebels a week ago. As with all such things, it can't last because Kalle will be very quickly bumped up into the main body. With Kalle at reserve it gives the manager all sorts of options as last night showed. If and when Alex Davies is granted his visa it will be an interesting and difficult decision for the Devils management as Sam Simota is clearly not just turning up for fun - he's obviously fully commited to the Devil's cause and fair play to him for it. Pleasing also to see that young Roland Benko is giving it a good go; especially after all the criticism here and elsewhere even before a wheel had turned. -
Plymouth V Somerset (afc) 29/03/2014

One assumes that anyone associated with the Demons together with the riders will be delighted to see your compelling assessment of their abilities -
I agree with Lewy on this one, almost all the Devils supporters have remained on the Plymouth forum so far. I think/hope the one individual who has consistently had a very low opinion of all things connected with the Devils has either gone elsewhere or broken his keyboard in a fit of grumpiness.

It's a pretty big car park. You'll be very, very unlucky not to find a space

Pinned thread on the Speedway News and Discussions board?
-
Ah! I wasn't counting on that .........
-
There are three kinds of people in this world........ Those that can count and those who can't.
-
Great news for all concerned at Scunny and great news also for the NL with another track for the youngsters to ride. It all amounts to competitive track time which is worth its weight in gold.
-
If we are introduced to and get to know the youngsters who are doing the second half racing then that can only be a good thing. Any interaction between the riders and the spectators can only be to a mutual advantage, surely?

Confirmed Signings For 2014
ancient mariner replied to Islander15's topic in National League Speedway
James Shanes and Danny Stoneman for the Devon Demons Announced here: http://plymouthdevils.co/ -
Actually no. There are plenty of contributors to the BSF whose opinions I do not share, although this does not prevent me from gaining considerable enjoyment from reading their views and the discussions surrounding them. Equally, I’m sure that there are many who have considered my own contributions on various matters as stupid, pointless or both and nor would I blame them – it is, after all entirely their privilege. However, in my opinion the contributor in question has an agenda and has repeatedly and frequently made what in my view amounts to highly critical, personal and derogatory posts on both this and the Plymouth forums against riders, the promotion and various other associated individuals. In this respect at least he is scrupulously fair and insults everyone in equal measure. It has become evident to me that he and I have directly opposing and irreconcilable views and to that end I have placed him on my ‘Ignore’ list. Indeed, I informed the gentleman concerned of my intention immediately prior to doing so. You will be, I am sure, delighted to learn that you have not joined him on the list.
-
Do what I've done Mikey and put him on the 'Ignore' list. You find that life on the BSF improves immeasurably
-
I can think of someone associated with the Devils promotion who could fulfil the minding role that you suggest very well indeed. Personally I would be delighted were he signed.
-
Rasmus is a great signing and one that we have all been hoping for. If nothing else it proves that the Devils promotion is not going to build a team with every expense spared and fair play to it for that. It would have been soooo easy to say 'we've signed Ben Barker so the rest of the team must be a bargain basement offering'. Two decent reserves (with 8:36 to play with) and this might just be a team to watch ...... It won't necessarily be an edifying sight, but the Ancient Mariner is already getting a bit excited over the Devil's prospects for next season
-
Similar to your good self Shadders my last visits to the IOW were in 2010 (Plymouth's last season in the CL/NL). During the holiday season there was a decent number of spectators, but hardly a one when I attended in May
-
Yes. Because he's far too good.

There are some posts that are just not funny

And this is why Speedway in this country is screwed. The sport is 'administered' by those who seek to exploit it - by which I mean make money from it. Consequently there is no reason to suppose that the BSPA would individually or collectively have the slightest interest in the future the sport other than what it might profit them. I'm not suggesting that the BSPA are wrong is this respect. I'm saying they shouldn't be running the sport.

I think I might have watched the heat to which you refer. It was at the OTA - he carried a load of speed into the third bend and clipped the rear wheel of the rider he was attempting to overtake (might have been the Fish - it was the Rebels v the Monarchs I'm pretty sure). He straightened up and hit the fence at a proper rate of knots. Amazed he didn't end up going through the fence like spaghetti! Having sat in the middle of the track for about 20 seconds or so he got to his feet and walked back to the pits while they had to drag/carry the wreckage of his bike back. Surely too good to be overlooked?
-
Strangely enough that's what we're all saying too! Suspect that finance is playing a huge part in the Devils team selection this year. That said, I'm sure we would all prefer to watch the Devils next year rather than being unable to watch last years champions (if you see what I mean). Still keeping my fingers crossed though - who knows the Devils promotion might just have come up with an inspired team selection?
-
I'm assured that he had exams and who can blame him for putting those first? Bear in mind that the match that he missed was a rearranged one too ... This from a fully paid up member of Cynics 'R' Us
-
Rode 4 home and 3 away meetings. Was due to ride at Glasgow but couldn't ride the rearranged fixture due to exams and therefore never became an asset. Will be a great signing for someone now that the Devils appear to have discounted him. As a Devils supporter that's a great pity. If you get him at Redcar, you'll have recruited an absolute gem.
