  1. Safe journey to the Tigers travelling supporters flogging their way up the M5/M6 today. From the forecast the meeting at Worky looks likely to be washed away.
  2. Good for you Paulco, we look forward to seeing you. You're right, it is a bit of a slog. After hours of travelling you realise that you have just passed by Manchester and there is stll a wee way to go. Still, once you get to Bristol, it's only another two hours! Is it a fair assumption that you'll be visiting the bar at some stage?
  3. So many posts to reply to, I'm not even going to try. Roland B has sorted out the SBA and has scored heavily there of late - bearing in mind that he broke his shoulder bone (clavicle?) recently. Criticism of his form will probably be based on his away form which is 'not good', but to condemn him as useless is in my view unfair. James Shanes is the one good thing to come out of the Devon Demons this season and has a bright future given that his talent is properly nurtured. The Plymouth promotion will neglect him at their peril, he is a young rider of the future and one to be properly looked after. To discuss Adam Roynon is to invite condemnation ...... but here goes. Fabulous rider, injured (and seriously) frequently enough for at least half a dozen riders. At least one too many comebacks for me. Adam needs to think of his future and his health in years to come; all the injuries WILL come back to haunt him in one way or another. He has to ask himself if the pursuit of speedway is actually worth risking his health for. I honestly believe that he should take the Plymouth's promotion decision as a sensible and heartfelt hint on how he should consider his future in speedway.
  4. In which case could we have an early cancellation unlike last time?
  5. Nothing yet on the Devils website here: http://www.plymouthdevils.co/
  6. Ahhh. I did indeed miss your point. TBH I was unaware that they had redeclared this week, but that's where inattention gets you :sigh:
  7. All the indications are rather grim, I'm afraid. Under normal circumstances the Devils promotion has a consistently good and accurate record of postponing meetings early, although anyone can get caught out. We have all arrived 30 minutes before tapes up to watch the track become a duck pond before our very eyes. I can only suggest you keep a close eye from early tomorrow morning. If you DO make the journey I wish you and your fellow Witches supporters a smooth and safe trip. This may also help? http://plymouthdevils.proboards.com/thread/11/check-weather
  8. Plymouth redeclared a long time before Adam Roynon's injury and their subsequent use of R/R .......... unless I miss your point?
  9. Be like me Paulco - a well balanced individual who has a chip on both shoulders
  10. Show off! I'm still counting. OK, here goes the right sock. So if my sums are right the original title was ........................... whatever
  11. Frankly I was stunned by such a feeble Devils effort. The Bandits were a very good side from 1 - 7 (Steen Jensen I thought outstanding). To quote B4E it looked as if the Bandits were the home team. What is it with the Devils gating? Or perhaps to be more accurate 'gating (not)'.
  12. This you're pretty much right there Shadders. Everything that's changed since the last meeting has changed to the Rocket's advantage. I'll settle for a point from the Devils ................... if the meeting goes ahead?
  13. Good as always to see you on Friday HT. There will soon be home supporters that have visited the SBA less often than you. The track has become increasingly bumpy in the past few weeks as a result of settling in the wake of the extensive track work undertaken on the track in order to accomodate the air fence. It was bladed during the week but was stated at the time that there had been issues and these showed themselves by way of holes appearing in the track as the meeting progressed. While it takes two sides to make a meeting - and the Diamonds certainly contributed their share - the Devils will be kicking themselves for not taking all three points. Robson (as always at the SBA) was excellent value. That said the Diamonds, I thought, deserved something from the meeting though as we all know you don't always get what you deserve
  14. Fair play to you for choosing a proper subject and not one of those useless ones that anyone can get. Here's to 86% then and 1% wasted effort - good luck!
  15. 66% is one hell of a pass mark. Indeed, 51% is 1% wasted effort
  16. My understanding is that a proportion of his bequest was spent in the abortive attempt to resurrect the Falcons at the Haldon racecourse. I also understand that a further proportion was subsequently invested in the Devils promotion. This may indicate an acknowledgement that speedway is unlikely to reappear in Exeter, but I am not in a position to comment. What proportion of the trust fund has been consumed and what amount remains I know not. I would think that is for those to know that need to know. What I do know is that when all is said and done the late Colin Hill was the kind of gentleman that all speedway supporters would wish to be their team's promoter. RIP
  17. Well, there will be less competition now that the 'kick a bag of wind' season comes to a close tomorrow. I have on a number of occasions asked if a pub (in the Bristol area) might put the speedway on and have rarely experienced issues, though it helps if you ask in advance. For instance I'll be asking about Wednesday's Stars v Robins meeting on Monday. I may just have been lucky in the past, but if you ask the worst that can happen will only be the answer 'no'.
  18. Yes indeed, 1968-70. For more info see the Devils website here: http://plymouthdevils.co/home.html Select the History tab and then Rider Index. Chris features about half way down the 1931 - 2005 section of the index. This news has made the Ancient Mariner a very happy bunny! A stronger main body and at any one given time a powerful reserve who can score plenty of points, taking a lot of the pressure off Roland Benko who we already know can score well at home. All round a much better balance to the team. And now the Devils progress in the PLKOC for the first time ever. So the Ancient Mariner's cup doth truly runneth over What would round off a very good day rather nicely, would be for the earlier stone throwers on this thread (there are possibly 4 of them that in particular spring to mind and I'm sure they know who they are) to post again, stating if they think the Devils promotion are still asleep and if so, why.
  19. And you know this to be a true statement? Speculation at best. You have all the marks of a troll
