British Speedway Promoters Meeting
bigcatdiary replied to dantodan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Yes but that's the rub we know they do read the BSF, more often under aliases because they continually moan about what's said on here. We even have ex promoters posting on here don't we Tsunami -
British Speedway Promoters Meeting

What's clear from all reports this year is that the EL clubs have all suffered financially for the past few years but despite that Leicester, Ipswich, Rye House and even Workington were supposedly interested in coming up despite the fact that the Sky contract is in serious doubt. Do they know something we don't. -

Could be interesting if the no 4 or no 5 rider gets injured and the team has to use R/R, who is eligible to take his rides. Be interesting to see if Olly Allen rides EL -

I will be very interested to find out who proposed this rule, wouldn't mind betting its someone who has the best 2 NL riders already in place. -

Exactly And those who want British U21 riders at reserve have clearly already got them signed up and scrapping the TR rule will seriously help the solid teams against top heavy sides. Apologies if I sound cynical but have been involved with the sport for too long. -

No doubt in my mind at all Hodgy When TR started the deal he was a promoter at Swindon. -

Terry Russell does a lot of work for Terry Russell, Speedway couldn't be in a poorer state than it is now its rock bottom and Terry Russell has to take his fair share of the blame. -
Wild Cards 2014
bigcatdiary replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I can remember riders in the past pulling out of FIM meetings in the past and being taken to task for it, surely if riders enter a said competition they are duly bound to compete in them as long as they accrue the necessary points for onward qualification. Riders withdrawing for any reason other than injury or illness (MC required) should result in a penalty which would pretty much stop all this nonsense. Harris hasn't done anything wrong other than do what he loves, riding any meeting he can, he even guested for the Panthers the night before the GP challenge when our great no 1 and team captain Kenneth Bjerre clearly couldn't be bothered. -
Pearson Defends The Play-off... Desperate
bigcatdiary replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Have said this for ages, the league is just to ensure you get into the top 4, once achieved its the form team that wins in the play off. Why do you think they stuffed Panthers on the run in. -

I think most of the BSPA get narked about the BSF and I am well aware that a few post on here as well, although not under their real names. The BSPA have a real problem with negativity, a good recent example is the recent problem with Birmingham web site and the steps they took over the press release. The BV v Poole match was a fiasco but let's be fair that's not the only mistake this year. -
Gp Final 3210 Against 6420

Excellent, let's keep it simple and fair to all. Who started this ridiculous double point nonsense in speedway anyway. -

Nevertheless it's true, Dryml has been woeful this year I really wonder why he even bothered. Any idea when the WC will be announced although Holder and Gollob seem nailed on to get 2 of them. -
Bottom line is that the mess UK Speedway is in at the moment has to be shouldered in the main by the BSPA MC, the SCB Members and staff they both employ to effectively run the sport in the UK. In the last few years countless strokes have been pulled and although the MC haven't actually pulled all of them they have allowed the offenders to constantly get away with this behaviour and have done absolutely nothing to change anything to prevent others doing the same. The result has seen countless supporters and promoters drift away from the sport clearly fed up with the way the sport continues to stumble from one PR disaster to another and the way it effectively handles things whilst at all time treating the supporters with utter contempt and attempting to keep them completely in the dark. It's looking like Sky have also had enough and who can blame them after the farcical events of the recent Belle Vue v Poole debacle. I rather think the forthcoming AGM will be discussing more important things than the usual helmet colours and tactical ride changes.
-
I can only agree with the above statement, the whole thing stinks of a rule for one and a rule for the other. Belle Vue postponed and got clobbered, Poole postponed and got away scot free, Lakeside didn't come out of it with much credit either over the shambolic press releases that followed.
-
And we had that wonderful blueprint for the future from Peter Adams suggesting we change the PL to EL conversion rate which by a strange coincidence mostly affected Peterborough (Sundstrom) and Coventry (Larsen). SCB Members - E Bartlett (Chairman); A Harkess; A F G Noel, G Thompson & C Van Straaten. Anyone there ring any bells.
-
The bottom line is Rick Frost wanted a level playing field, and still does. That's all what most supporters want, so why 3 years down the line hasn't the BSPA done anything about it. Nothing's changed, this sport is still corrupt as recent events only prove, until it does this sport will continue to sink until it drowns completely.
-
The main reason the tactical ride was introduced was to save money. Plenty of teams still go for a 3.00 point number seven and plenty of those riders only get 3 rides per meeting.

The Gp Points System
bigcatdiary replied to Eglese 19's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Have to say I agree, as it stands every point has to be earned and finishing first or second in the semi finals gives everyone the chance to gain more in the final. And no more big gaps between riders in the overall totals, keeps the series alive for longer. -
Italian Gp Saturday 3rd August

Awful meeting racing wise but then Terenzano always is, very pleased for Iversen as he earned his first GP win and Woffinden rode well all night. -
World Cup Final
bigcatdiary replied to mothorsen's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The actual final was fairly absorbing to see it played out, but the track was truly awful (as it is every year) and the referee was worse. I thought the Danish team manager cocked it up with his choices for the last 4 races, dreadful decision to put MJJ in the last heat and not being on the ball to see what the consequences were in heats 15 & 16. Crowd was better than the race off but still didn't look half full.
