  1. There's a lot of if's and but's about the Rockets line up. On the evidence of last night Olly Allen may struggle with his arm. I'm not expecting anything from Josh Bates and the rest, who knows? I'd be very happy with a point, but I think that may be beyond us on this occasion. With a full strength injury free line up I'm sure we could sneak a win. Last night Tyson Nelson was at 3 and Anders Mellgren at 5. Not sure if they're sticking to that tonight There will be instant Twitter updates from 7.30pm for those who can't make it... https://twitter.com/Shadders5
  2. It used to be the norm to stop a race when a kick board was dislodged, but this year that practice seems to have stopped. Noticed it a couple of times at least this year. Only Jason, Pontus and Ben can be pleased with last nights efforts. Olly clearly needs more time to recover and Kasper still losing points through his inability to gate. Off night for Anders, but I'm sure he'll make amends today at Leicester. Interesting to hear announced that Jason G plans a return next week. I'll believe it when I see it. If/when he does return he'll be at reserve. Heard a whisper that next years proposed points limit will be below 40 points. Could leave us in a pretty strong position with the line up I have in mind. Nice to see a decent crowd, swelled by a good Leicester following. Car park was pretty full an hour before the start time.
  3. Do you apply that philosophy to everything? Life's too short to be worrying about stuff like that.
  4. If money is tight then you're probably better off finding another pastime. Unfortunately, those of us with the speedway bug will be there week in week out, home and away Not sure if I'm pleased or not with a couple of points tonight. With an obviously unfit Olly Allen and a NL guest at 4. The Leicester fans on the first bend were extatic to the point of orgasm with their point. Not a lot of passing on a quick track, but enough close races to keep it interesting. A farcical heat 11 swung the meeting Leicester's way, but the referee got all his decisions spot on tonight. Two weeks too late
  5. Car park is full at 5pm, 2 hours before the start time. I've heard that David Bellago was not allowed to practice today
  6. That's the meeting I had the misfortune to be at
  7. The Leicester threads are full of Lions fans moaning about their track
  8. Instant Twitter updates from 7pm https://twitter.com/Shadders5
  9. Jorgensens last visit produced paid 7... We know what Ricky Wells is capable of Times have changed since the days of one bike per rider on the back of a car, plus a track spare. Equipment prices have shot up over the past 20 years or so. Speedway is a very expensive hobby unless you have sponsorship. Young riders trying to make it in what is now no longer a hobby, but a professional sport have it a lot tougher... You can't compare speedway today to that from the "good old days"
  10. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2646807 To sum it up, cloudy, no rain expected, 18-20 Celsius Allen, Bunyan, Mellgren, Nelson, Morley, Lykke, Aspgren Jorgensen, Graversen, Karlsson, Doolan, Nieminen, Edberg, Sarjeant
  11. Heat 7: (Morley, Lykke, Nieminen, Doolan) looks particularly dodgy as does heat 11 (Morely, Lykke, Wells, Graversen). I'd put Nelson at 5 and pair Ben Morely with Mellgren at 4. If Ben has a mare, then Pontus Aspgren can take heat 14 with Kasper Lykke (pronounced Luger in a Danish meeting on Tuesday). Hopefully Ben will repeat his form against Glasgow/Sheffield, bit it's gonna be a lot more difficult for him in the main body of the side.
  12. One if the more sensible rulings from the powers that be. Are they really going to use Ben Morley at number 5?
  13. You know you're struggling when you lose at home to Rye House, not once, but twice in a season!
  14. £80 for a new tyre. Don't park in the part of the car park in front of the admission gates as they triple park there. If you're in the middle row of the three you may be stuck there for a while after the meeting.
  15. Thanks for the link... My first glimpse of Swedish speedway and I must say I'm impressed. Good ride my MJJ there
  16. Yes, I remember you well... Good as gold thanks. Hope you're keeping well BB
  17. Brilliant feed, but hard to follow without graphics and you don't speak Danish... Sounds like they're speaking backwards *edit* Just seen Manchesterpauls link
  18. Still running I see. Some Edinburgh and Workington fans are still defending Cook, which is par for the course. I've no connection with either rider, so have no bias whatsoever. The fact is Cook damaged property belonging to the Stadium owners. That's criminal damage. He's very lucky that he hasn't had another court appearance to add to the unfortunate incident that's been well documented elsewhere. What went on between Cook and Barker has been going on at tracks for years. I once saw Chris Neath put one on Tom P Madsen in a Rye House v Berwick meeting and some scuffles between riders at other times. Criminal damage is another matter though.
