  1. I think it was Joe Screen who had “Slave “.
  2. This Saturday afternoon the Workington GT Tyres Comets face the Leicester Lion Cubs in another tough League encounter. The boys will be looking for a win after the defeat last week against Mildenhall.
  3. Not looking good for Eurosport coverage on Saturday , unless they change scheduling later on in the week.
  4. Impressed with Celina around Workington. yesterday and well done to all riders who took part from the little ones to the older guys some of which had NDL team places . All good experience and track time . Thank you to Northside Arena for hosting the championship .
  5. Yes, yes and yes, you will be very welcome, track a little drive from the town centre but signs out on a few roundabouts to help with sat nav directions. Catering on site , most of the locals are friendly () and willing to help in any way when you arrive .
  6. I,m assuming the promoters are having or have had discussions about next season and the future of the sport in the UK......
  7. Going to be a big job to keep the track in good condition for racing with temperatures forecast to be around 20 degrees.
  8. Workington go up against Mildenhall DJS Fen tigers on Saturday afternoon , the Tigers boast a strong top 3 of Complin , Bowtell and Trigger . The Comets however are back to full strength with the return from injury of Luke Harrison and Luke Crang , hopefully Elliot Kelly is ok after last weeks injury diagnosis .While Kelsey Dugard has been released but has already found a new club at the Oxford chargers. The weather is forecast to be sunny and hot so hopefully another bumper crowd will be in attendance.
  9. Damn will just have to go to the Speedway...then GP in the evening.
  10. Kelsey Dugard released and Luke Harrison is fit to ride, thanks to Kelsey for all your efforts for the Comets , get well soon .
  11. Cookie said in the Star this week he had a couple of offers from teams but the distance put him off making not financially viable but maybe in the future . So that’s Kings Lynn and Peterborough .
  12. Another bumper crowd last week watched the Comets win against a determined Berwick side. The meeting was marred by a nasty crash in heat 2 when Kelsey Dugard slammed into the fence on bend 2 then Elliot Kelly laid the bike down and went into the fence also. From the last report I heard the injury to kelsey does not seem as bad as first thought but the lad will probably be out of action for some weeks . The meeting was also the return of Luke Harrison and although among the points was probably a week or two early for the lad to make his comeback. So now the Comets have three riders on the injury list Dugard, Harrison and Crang (injured at Berwick) but have a week or so before the next meeting. Afternoon Speedway not good , getting sunburn instead of frostbite .
  13. Barry Campbell " Hows my driving" Theo Pijper...something like " Mrs Piper is the boss"
  14. Great racing from all the riders, especially from Pijper, Harris , Brennan MPT and Douglas .
  15. So, assuming Peterborough and Wolves don’t make it to the tapes in 2024, that would leave five teams in the Gulf British League/Elite League/Premiership , even if Oxford were persuaded to move up , the League still would not be viable . I say this with no pleasure but the system may need a revamp.
  16. Yes is back for the home meeting I believe.
  17. Where to start....well what a fantastic return to Speedway at Workington on Saturday afternoon. The crowd estimated to be around 2500 was the best tribute of all that could be given to the management team, staff and riders of Workington Speedway, thank you to everyone that attended including many that had traveled some distance from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Berwick etc. A win for the Comets on track was the icing on the cake with all the lads chipping in with points for a great team performance. The organisation of the entrance to the stadium, car park marshaling and other stadium officials was exemplary . The track stood up fairy well to the afternoon sun but was breaking a little up later in the meeting , hopefully the track will bed in better after a few weeks. Facilities for food and drink were very good, better than some clubs have put on for major meetings in the Championship. Hopefully the Cumbrian people will support the new venture in good numbers to help the club move forward in the coming years. Oh, can fans use the bins provided please for their rubbish, thank you. Once again thank you to Andrew and his hard working team for bring Speedway back to the town.
  18. Times change along with society unfortunately , too many young .....another topic for another day.
  19. Only other sales are pre purchased season tickets at this stage.
  20. Probably due to Health and safety Geoff
