  1. LEICESTER’S next home match in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership against Birmingham has been brought forward to this coming Bank Holiday Monday (May 26, midday start). The Watling JCB Lions were to face the Brummies on Thursday May 29; however, that date would now result in the absences of riders from both teams due to re-arranged fixtures in Poland. With the co-operation of all parties, agreement has therefore been reached for the meeting to take place at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park on Bank Holiday Monday at midday. The Lions will then travel to Sheffield for their early evening fixture at 6.30pm, whilst the Brummies have a home match against King’s Lynn at 7.30pm. As a consequence of this change, the scheduled fixture for the Lion Cubs at home to Belle Vue on Sunday May 25 has been postponed, with a new date to be announced.
  2. DELETE SUNDAY MAY 25: Leicester v Belle Vue (NDL) INSERT MONDAY MAY 26: Leicester v Birmingham (Prem) 12pm DELETE THURSDAY MAY 29: Leicester v Birmingham (Prem)
  3. That's fair enough... we'd have to go without them
  4. The frustrating thing is it's not rocket science. We'd lose the "top stars" but riders like Tom Brennan, Josh Pickering, Sam Masters, Luke Becker, Ryan Douglas, Keynan Rew and all other riders in that bracket would have to make a decision of whether to commit to the UK as the new "top stars" with around 40-50 meetings or ride Poland, and for the non British riders, base themselves in Poland.
  5. Realistically it needs to be one big league only with riders committed to British Speedway, 2H2A, no doubling up, on the best race night for the club.
  6. Some decent stuff on track tonight, result was never in doubt though... the big 3 all won tonight more or less taking them out of sight.
  7. Was it really worth showing that from King's Lynn? It was laughable!
  8. Some of them look like they've got an appointment with the undertakers tomorrow!
  9. Not many I'd have thought, and that's paying adults and 20% of that £25 would be VAT.
  10. If the rumoured £100k per club per season tv money is to be believed that covers a club for 2,000 punters per tv match based on 2 showings per season. Maybe more as there'll be no VAT element.
  11. That's the question that should be asked about Ritchie Worrall I think... didn't he cop a couple of fines?
  12. Wasn't that NK doing deliveries for Tesco during Covid... at least he had a company vehicle 🚚
  13. I see Nick Morris mentioned a lot on this forum... has he expressed any intention to return to speedway?
  14. I agree, I believe Foord gave DT a nudge in a hard first bend though, absolutely nothing wrong with him doing that, that's tough Speedway.
  15. Looking at the last 10 years BU21 Finals and the number of riders no longer riding (to my knowledge) Connor Bailey Henry Atkins Harry McGurk Kyle Bickley Alex Spooner Sam Bebee Archie Freeman Jack Parkinson Blackburn Jack Thomas Joe Lawlor Jamie Halder Alex Spooner Zach Wajtknecht Nathan Greaves Ryan Kinsley Luke Harris Luke Ruddick Josh Bailey Max Clegg Taylor Hampshire Ellis Perks Josh Bates Liam Carr James Shanes Oliver Greenwood Stefan Nielsen Ashley Morris Marc Owen Tom Stokes Ryan Terry-Daley Joe Jacobs Tom Perry Dan Greenwood Jack Kingston James Sarjeant All of these riders interested enough in Speedway to have got the kit and given it a go and good enough to have appeared in a BU21 Final. That's 35 Speedway riders! 5 complete teams worth! But the sport chooses to fly in riders from abroad, if they can be persuaded, pay them top dollar and some of who let them down at the drop of a hat. Or have riders riding for more than one club in the UK... It's complete madness.
  16. Killeen is not a rider whom I've ever thought of as out of control or dangerous... In the incident that saw DT get injured, I'm pretty sure that he got a nudge from Vinnie Foord that sent him into the side/back of Killeen and then he high sided. I'm pretty sure there was contact, despite the commentators saying there wasn't. Nothing intentional from Foord, just a hard first bend and all 4 back was the correct decision imo.
  17. I caught up with this last night, didn't watch it live as I knew it'd be a marathon. I'm so pleased to see Sam Hagon win this, I've given him a bit of stick on here in the past, maybe not him personally but my club for including him in this years line-up. I saw he'd put a bit of a score in on Saturday night at Berwick also, so has hopefully turned a bit of a corner and got his career back on track. He certainly did it the hard way, scraped into the LCQ, scraped into the final and then did it when it mattered... right or wrong, them's the rules. I can't agree about the quality of riders on view compared to other years, like him or not the work that Vatcher does certainly looks to be working. What then happens to these riders once they leave his stewardship is another matter though as they then seem to get put through the sausage mincer, which for a sport with a major major shortage of home grown riders is beyond baffling. I do think Ashton Boughen is trying to run before he's learnt to walk though and would probably benefit from more time in the NDL. I don't know but I get the impression that the focus for some of these young kids is to get out of British Speedway as quickly as possible on into Poland. Luke Harrison was very impressive and surely deserves a shot at a RS spot somewhere. A quick side note... 20 minutes to change tyres!!! Really?!? And that camera on bend 2 of the BSN coverage, cut to on almost every single lap of every race, to show a ridiculously close, close up of a rider... or no rider and just an empty track!!! Why?
  18. They announced the signing on the 16th of January, hardly a last minute signing, it was an open secret that he was only here for 2 months, yet they signed him anyway... not the first time they've done this. Although it's sad to lose another track, I can't say the promotion will be missed.
  19. Birmingham have never mentioned this to any of their fans or the press, so they can't really play the victim now he's fulfilled his contract.
  20. As NWA said F*#k Tha Polis... I knew I'd be able to use that one sooner or later!
  21. It's how us great unwashed eat Sir Sidney, in fact the kids would prefer a maccies rather than a bar meal.
