Wimbledon Stadium: Some Important News
mickthemuppet replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Big article in today's Telegraph saying Wimbledon(Football Team) going back to Plough Lane. It calls the present greyhound stadium a fading hodgepodge of tumbledown stands. There is no mention of Speedway in the large article, either past or future. It says this will be a community asset and will transfon the borough with things like street gyms to entertainment suites that people will want to use every day. -
Suggest you watch tonight's live football between Brentford and Leyton Orient as the ground there will look empty as well . This is the same for nearly all league matches outside of the Football Premier league

Stockholm Gp September 21st
mickthemuppet replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Should there be a case for Tomasz Gollob being awarded 2 points in heat 2 .Just as well he was not in contention to be world champion as he was the complete innocent party in the crash. -

Wasn't it great to see Olle Nyrgen present the trophy to Matej Zagar. He looks so well and is is beyond belief that he was Swedish Champion in 1949. How can he look that good -

The cost of Admission to this years Grand Prix converted to Sterling prices, Cheapest to dearest New Zealand ....£30.72, £61.43 Bydgoszcz.........£18.69, £38.36 Gothenburg.......£33.73, £86.74 Prague...............£22.19, £81.75 Cardiff................£29.00, £95.00 Gorzow................£18.50, £38.26 Copenhagen.......£42.91, £107.27 Terenzano............£29.48, £46.32 Latvia...................£14.38, £47.95 Krsko....................£16.00, £40.00 Stockholm..............£31.33, £69.88 Torun.....................£17.70, £108.69 So Copenhagen is much dearer than any other GP for the cheapest price and Latvia and Krsko are the about the Premier League price here in UK .

Air Fence Safety Performance - Research?
mickthemuppet replied to Elephantman's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I always thought that the old wooden safety at Ipswich was as good as any air fence there. -
Shame there could not be a match race between them. Best 2 out of 3 . That would bring the punters in.and pay for itself.

According to today's East Anglian Times Ben Barker might ride again before the season ends. It says he has been released from hospital as the surgeons do not know if his back injury is an old or new one. Should it be an old injury and one he has been riding with, he may not be out for the rest of the season as previously thought

Sorry , one of them should have been Wimbledon.

Good betting on tonight's Gp. Only one bad loser for me is if Matej Zagar wins. Tai and Darcy small losers but all others winners. -
Would not have made any difference as West Ham, Hackney and West Ham were all racing in the British League Division One.and were all within 30 miles of Wembley In the National league there was Crayford,Rayleigh and Romford also within 30 miles.

But he is 9.5 on Betfair and 11's on Expekt so 8/1 is not so generous -

It will not be voided as they have not got a clue about speedwayLast year William Hill had a Swedish match . The home team were 1/20 to win on scratch . On handicap they offered the home team at 5/6 with an 18 start . I had a £100 on and they paid me . Thats why less and less bookies will take a bet on speedway as they have not got enough knowledge about it -

At 7.25 Betwin still taking bets on Eastie B'ham Currently 10-8 and Bham are +12.5 Only allow me £22 though. No wonder their profits are 17% down when they will not let a good honest punter like me to have a £100 bet -
I think you will find Edward Kennett rides for Berwick

Surely Ipswich have a better chance of winning tonight than Belle Vue had at Swindon last night. Anything can happen in Speedway -
Not quite true. Ipswich raced on an off night last Saturday week against Redcar and had probably 50% more people there a normal Thursday meeting. There was also live speedway on TV that night as well. Let's hope the GP's disappear off TV and British Speedway can get back to mainly weekend fixtures like they always used to. Saturday night's was always great at places like Belle Vue and Coventry..

It's interesting to see that the record attendances for 80% of League Football Clubs took place for FA Cup matches. Now the lowest gates are for Cup matches All those records gates are for a long time ago. 50 years ago it was not unusual for the old 3rd and 4th division clubs to have gates of 30.000 plus. Now they only get 10% of that. My local non league club used to get 1,000 to 1.200 spectators and for their local derby 1.800 to 2,000 and once the got to the 1st round of the FA Cup with 3,700 watching. Todays gates 70 to 100. and there in no local Derby anymore as the other team has gone. So far less people watch football today than they did in the 1950,s
