  1. Or could Speedworth the leaseholders eventually squeeze Speedway out of Foxhall as they are only 55 meeting allowed a year by the local council. That is combined Speedway and Stock Car. It stands to reason that more stock car will be less Speedway . Ironically the Stadium is owned by Ipswich Speedway Limited.
  2. Where is everyone getting this time delay from. Greyhound Racing runs perfectly . There is no question of time delay. If there was the bookmakers would not be betting on it. Quite simple really. The programme riders will not be named as it will say what Betfair did in the past which was for example 1.Back Poole 2 Back Swindon 3.Draw or 1)Poole Red 2) Poole Blue 3).Swindon White. 4).SwindonYellow and Black Then a third set of Betting could be a 5-1,4-2,3-3,2-4,1-5. So there is a choice of 11 bets on one race. Of course the big tumbling block to any of this happening is Bookmakers putting up the odds Currently there are six bookmakers laying on non TV meetings although Sportingbet have now stopped taking bets on any Speedway anywhere .B/Win and Unibet are almost useless as sometimes they will not take a £50 bet
  3. But people have been betting on Speedway for the last 50 years!!!!!! How did the BSPA move the goalposts from 6 to 4 for the play offs. I never knew the BSPA set betting odds. Your maths are dodgy as well. You would only have won £25,000 So when live speedway is on Monday night throughout the Summer many bookmakers bet through the meeting and there is no charge. So why should that change and become £7.50 per meeting?.
  4. They never got the answer last week either although Daphne knew on Eggheads that the Young Trophy was Speedway
  5. But foreigners have always ridden in Speedway since it first began.
  6. But guest riders came in 1955 and there was national publicity for Speedway then with reports and results in the next day papers Essex played Australia in a cricket match at Chelmsford last summer in a 4 day match. Essex changed 2 players half way through the matches and one was a 15 year old schoolboy .Even Speedway cannot beat that!! Mind you except for Tests, it looks like Championship Cricket is in terminal demand sex changed two of he players
  7. The information given is what is written on the boxes and until I get a remote control I cannot access what the full contents are. I have many more tapes.
  8. I too have Speedway Stars going back from today to 1969 ., possibly in the region of over 2000 .which must be the biggest collection in England I will accept £100 for them all or make me an offer. Obviously buyer collects .I have also tapes of Speedway going back to 1975 including nearly all the World Of Sport Speedway meetings televised and the Anglia Sports programmes .Many world finals of Singles, Pairs,Four Team These are not catalogued but there must be 200 hours at least If interested contact me on mickthemuppet@yahoo.com
  9. Prague is a great city for a holiday but for a GP it must be one of the worst.
  10. The viewing figures will be down in millions tonight. There up against the X factor finals
  11. But in Tennis the French do not say Deuce for 40-40 , they say egalite
  12. What about Kendo Nagasaki the masked mystery man from Japan with the red eyes.
  13. In a recent quiz I took part in a question was what s the most dangerous sport in the world. I.E in which sport are the most fatalities Not part of the answer but there are more deaths in Professional Wrestling than there are in Professional Boxing yet Professional Wrestling is not regarded as a sport
  14. I would be amazed if Tai were mentioned if they named 25 stars. Although world champion he only won one GP in Prague. Hardly a reccomendation to be BBC SPORTS personality of the year is it
  15. Not really true is it?. The Grand Prix's are run without Guest Riders,Rider Replacement's or double point scores and how much publicity do they get. UK has a world champions yet how many National Papers reported it or gave it a write up.
  16. I have the East Anglian Daily Times every day on the internet and this costs £50 per year. The printed paper costs 70 pence per day and £1.30 on a saturday. So this costs 5 X 70p and one of £1.30 making £4.80 per week or £249 a year. This is a saving 80% of the street price , So how can they do this but there is no discount on line for the Speedway Star
  17. So it's Ipswich against Poole Then Chris Holder and Darcy ward would not ride for Poole. Nor would Mickey Dyer,Rowan Tungate or Josh Grajczonek ride as they are double up riders. That leaves Maciej Janowski and Thomas Jonasson. So where do the other 5 riders come from. The same would apply to Kings Lynn , Birmingham, Swindon and Belle Vue. They will also need another 5 riders when racing against Premier League opponents. I would think you will need another 50 riders
  18. Twenty Three teams would mean a minimum of 161 riders without any back up riders. Then double up riders like Craig Cook, Ben Barker are going to have a lot less meetings under this system. Ben Barker rode in 61 matches last season which would go down to 18 is he rides for Birmingham next year under your system. So he would lose 70% of his income. Sorry but it is a non starter
  19. So where are all these riders going to come from to make up the 16 teams . That means you would need over 100 riders. Were there that many riders last year in the 2 leagues
  20. What a load of rubbish. The sport of Speedway was going long before Johnny Hoskins promoted it in Australia. The word Speedway came from the tracks in America around about 1890 much before Johnny Hoskins. Then if you go back to the 1940/50's Speedway was certainly a big sport in this country with gates at places like Wembley having over 50,000 attendances. Then in those days Speedway riders were earning most likely 10 times as much of the top footballers of the day
  21. The is a GREAT site and thank you very much for it Probably my most looked at site in the summer. Sue how about telling all of us something about it like when was it first started. ? Whose idea it was it? Was it a struggle to get it off the ground at the beginning.? Is it hard to get texters at some tracks?. How many people help run this site.? How much does it cost? Whose is the best texter?
  22. I think you might find that Cameron Heeps turned out for Mildenhall the season before last
  23. As I take an annual subscription for the Speedway Star how much will I save if I transfer and go online
  24. you have no evidence of this.as it is simply not tr/ue. 90% of football clubs had bigger attendances in the 1950-60's than they get today. This applies to all levels of football. Gates are well lower. today.
