Bet 365 put up Coventry (-10) 10/11 versus Peterborough (+10) 10/1 . Although I think Coventry will win easily 10/1 was too big to miss. They they informed me that 10/1 was a mistake and they amended the bet to 10/11 . As i had never taken 10/11 I said I want to cancel the bet . So far I has heard nothing from them after one hour. . After an earlier match Coventry should walk this evening fixture -

Cannot see why the Gelsenkirchen GP was a mistake. Was there not 20,000 + people there.Admittedly it was not the best indoor track in the world but many have improved since then. The best part of it for me was that the first four heats were recorded and the bookmakers did not know., and I don't think anybody else did. I think the first heat winner was Christian Hefenbrock at 16/1 -
When Is A Team Not A Team?
mickthemuppet replied to oldtimer's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
They did. Ipswich Town football club used 20 loan players from other clubs last season. Can Speedway teams equal that. -
I do not think Sky will drop their Monday night Elite(and some premier) league Speedway. Why would they be trying different ideas like having a small team, reporting from the other tracks. If they are finishing with league speedway at the end of the season ,why would they bother trying different innovations. The GP's are a different matter as there is so much sport to fit in on a Saturday. Eurosport showed the Women's tennis from Rome live all the week but the final was recorded. Sky advertised the Nadal v Federer at 4pm at which time the first set had already been completed. Sky had also shown matches live all the week until it got to Saturday.

Why could not Witches gone for R/R for Ben Barker instead of picking Craig Cook. I know what John Berry would have chosen. To me the Premier League does not have the attraction of the Elite League. I missed more matches last season than all of the matches when they were in the Elite League combined. . I too was in a group of 12 to 14 people who used to go every week to Elite league matches This has now shrunk to 3 or 4. I also used to go to some away matches in the Elite but have never been to one Premier away match. . I am sure that when riders like Hans Anderson, Darcy Ward , Scott Nicholls etc. were coming to Foxhall this was a big attraction to the discerning Witches supporters. These riders certainly helped put bums on seats.

I take what you say but it does seem rather odd that two bookmakers would shorten the odds of both teams -

I would think that Greg Hancock and Tomasz Gollob will not be in the GP's next year. You can also take out Antonio Lindback, and possibly Freddie Lindgren, Martin Vaculik and Krzysztof Kasprzak. Darcy Ward will certainly be back maybe Arten Laguta' ,Hans Andersen and as an outsider Craig Cook -

Some Bookmakers seem to be altering their odds slightly on match odds , and making their favourites at shorter prices . Usually they go 10/11 both teams on handicap. Tonight Bet Victor have 3/4 on Belle Vue and 11/10 Lakeside @ -/+ 4 . Bet 365 go 10/13 Lakeside. @+7. .Even Coral has home team 4/5 and 11/10 the away team @ +5. -

Do not get bend four. I sat there a couple of years back and got absolutely covered in shale. The good part we moved into the main stand just behind the start line after two heats and nobody stopped us. -

As for a new track to improve the racing, nothing has changed . This has to be the worst track to stage a Grand Prix meeting but one of the best cities.to go to. -

Very early for much betting at the moment. Best backed so far are Tai Woffinden (9.2) and Chris Holder (8.00) Little bits for Andreas Jonsson (30.00) the Russian((6.2) and NP amazingly (15.5) -
Or like Horse racing which in about 8 minutes in 3 hours, or 12 minutes of action in an hour at a tennis match. Then there is golf ,about 4 minutes of play in 4 hours.

Speedway Star Revamp 2 Months On
mickthemuppet replied to remembertheracers's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think the Speedway Star is an excellent magazine and have taken it for many many years. The things I do not like so much the year are mainly the downsizing of the Grand Prix programme and the statistics which were always interesting. There should be at least two pages on a forthcoming GP I also thought the results section was better prevoiusly when the results were given in league order and not in date order as they are now. So the results section would start with the Elite League, then the Premier league and finally the National league. I would also like to go back to team news under the heading of the various clubs , once again in league order. My one other little gripe is the Fantasy League. Today's SS write up about it was pathetic. At one time you used to show the leading managers and the riders they had selected. I take part in the Racing Post "Ten To Follow" and there update shows the top 200 and the top ten's teams. with the horses they have selected. Although I do not expect you to put a table of 250 , it would be nice to see what the top managers teams are. Hope this does not sound too critical but Speedway are lucky to have such a good magazine especially to people to far away to get to a track -

One bookmaker had Chris Harris @ +0.5 against Scott Nicholls. So who is the winner. Scott for finishing 2nd or Chris who won on points 13 and a half to Scott Nicholls 13 points.?. -

i would suggest you look at the rules of your bookmaker. Some bookmakers will ignore the semi final scores , some will ignore the semi final and final scores. Some others will count all scores and some others have not got a clue how they will settle head to heads. So it will be possible that one rider can take part in the semi final and score more points than the winner of the meeting -

To start with the four riders in the semi final will get six . then those two who go to the final will get seven and the other two finalists will get six -

Paddy Power had earlier this day Stuart Robson as the complete outsider in the field at 500/1 nearly twice as much as Chris Schraam. Then he withdrew from the meeting. Going back to Paddy Power's odds and they had reduced him to 50/1. Once again a minefield betting on the head to heads. Best avoid at all costs.
