  1. on that basis that make New Zealand the top country pro rata so that does not prove anything does it
  2. So your parents are not related by marriage. I think I have heard it all now. Anybody elses parents in the world that are not related by marriage except mr Snackette or perhaps Mr Wriggle. Give it up. Once again your are on a loser.
  3. As someone who spells the tiny creature gnat without a g like nat I will quote you what is says in the Modern Oxford Dictionary (P.S. Not to many people on here spell four letter words wrong or in your case a three letter word) Related 1. Being connected:associated 2 Connected by kinship, common origin, or marriage 3. Music . Having a close harmonic connection. Hope this will help you.or are you going to argue with the dictionary as well
  4. It does not but you in a very good light if your parents are not related . I think there is a word for it
  5. I think you will find there are more people go to Speedway in Britain than go to speedway in Sweden and Denmark combined There are twice as many go to Cardiff GP than the two Swedish Grand Prix's
  6. Please tell me which part you do not understand then I will try to explain it to you.. So what is your definition of RECENT then
  7. Great but they were that dull but two of them were world champions and another one finished in the top three
  8. Virtually all the talk on here is about previous world finals. Some peoples memories are pretty good and people still speak on fond memories of these meetings Except Chris Harris winning a GP at Cardiff there does not seem to be many memorable GP's of which there has been far more of. and also more recent. It's a shame we could not carry on with the GP's and have an individual world championship as well
  9. The statement by Chris Louis that the long term aim to to get back in the Elite League is the best statement to come out of the Witches camp for over a year. Ipswich are a big club that belong to a big league. Lets get back to local matches against King's Lynn, Peterborough and Arena Essex . I cannot wait for a Easter Bank Holiday double against the Stars with perhaps 3-4000 watching compared now to the 7-800 attending home matches. It;s odd really that all the Premier League matches between the Star Of Anglia and the 16 lap classic were all lower gates than those two meetings. yet people say they prefer team racing to individual meetings
  10. So you can rectify that now and put up who were the great partners with Norman Parker, Ken KcKinlay, Ronnie Moore and Kelvin Mullarkey and that will put the thread back on topic
  11. I thought the Forum asked how many great parterships there were and not name one rider and guess who might his partner be
  12. When you talk about the money side of the sport did you mean the one off World Finals at Wembley. There all profits from these finals went back into British speedway as compared to the current GP's where nothing goes back into British Speedway
  13. I am afraid to say the scoring system is rubbish. Say for instance Rider A won every Gp but rider B top scored in every GP. Then rider B would be world champion without ever winning a GP. So rider A wins all the GP's yet is not world champion. That why the scoring system must be changed.
  14. Unfortuneatly Wembley Lions were forced out by the stadium wanting too much rent. I think it was the region of £7500 per meeting. Such a shame as they were getting up to 20,000 a meeting. Another annoying feature there was the drinks in the bar were dearer at a Speedway meeting than they were at a Greyhound meeting It's as Wembley stadium did not want Speedway to continue there. As for Sverre after his terrible accident he lost all confidence and was never the same rider again
  15. Most Speedway meetings are not very good in the afternoon Nothing worse that dust billowing all over the place then watering .then shortly after the dust is back again. Much better Speedway in the evenings
  16. So what promoters would want run on a Monday night when there is Live Elite Speedway on Sky. You only have to look at how many people attend a live Sky meeting to show that would finish Speedway completely
  17. Now correct me if I am wrong but the subject on this posting are supposed to be about "Replying to next Issue Of Classic Speedway" Now not having seen the current Classic Speedway magazine is there now a Bible section or is this the biggest straying off topic ever.
  18. Certainly the Swedish Grand Prix at Ullevi does not pay. It has lost money for the last three years and the attendance has gone down each year. One of the main reasons it does not draw the Swedish people in is it is a non Speedway city. Yet is is a great stadium and city for Speedway.
  19. Very naughty Norbold. You deleted the part of your posting after the .......saying .Ian Hoskins says his father opened Odsal Speedway. That just about sums it all up. I rest my case How would I know what was said in the article as I have not even seen the story yet.
  20. So who did open Odsal to Speedway then Norbold if it was not Johnny Hoskins
  21. Maybe this is the gradual start of the break up of the GP's. Darcy Ward looks like he will not take part, now Pepe. The riders should want to take part in the GP's but until they are paid a proper rate eventually they will struggle to field a competitive 16 riders.
  22. The only reason Darcy Ward might turn a wild card down is because the money in the GP's is pathetic and if they bring the new rule in Poland next season he could be frozen out. Poland will probably bring in a rule that any team can only have one GP rider. Only 4 or 5 riders make a profit out of a GP. It is obscene that the prize money for a GP ranges from £6500 down to £1000 depending where you finish. That roughly £60,000 prize money for a 3 live hour meeting. The riders have to take their accommodation.travel ,mechanic's fees out of that. Compare that to Sky paying on average £2,4million per live Premier League football match. I know what is more entertaining. So ING will have to up the ante or the GP's will die unless they pay a sensible return for the riders efforts . If one rider won say 10 Grand Prix's he would only win ££65,000. That is awful compared to some darts and snooker prize money. Speedway should end all this rubbish with the GP's and get back to it's roots again and have a proper world championship. There are people who have nothing to do with Speedway earning far more out of it than Speedway itself
  23. Perhaps I should have said that my posting about West Maitland were taken from a book called "Speedway Walkabout" by a certaiin Johnny Hoskins. Perhaps you should all read it and you might understand the topic a little bit more. I would think he would have a better idea than anybody else about what happenedce. Would that be enough evidence for you Olddon
  24. The only thing correct about your statement was that I was not a speedway rider in 1923. Why do you think Colin Srewart's version of West Maitland is more correct than what I have said. I got my information from a book on Speedway which I would think is more correct than any other version that you have put on here
