There wasn't a girl rider who rode in any official league fixtures. Lisa Whibberley Wobberley rode some 2nd halves and the odd junior match. Julie Cross rode in the Telford indoor meeting one year.

It is a pity that he's a shadow of his former self as he was fantastic to watch at his best. Some riders have ridden on too long (Peter Collins for example) and left a slightly watered down legacy as a result. Mark will know when he's had enough, i'm sure observations from the likes of me will have little bearing on that decision. He's still scoring at a decent 2nd/3rd Heat leader level, but to tout him for a GP place is plain daft and would do him no favours at all.

What have Davey Watt and Craig Boyce done to upset Tabby?? She hasn't nominated them for the GP's yet!!
-
Absolutely no doubt that Loram should not even be considered for a GP place. Past his best, getting himself into more scrapes every year because he's getting slower.

Betts, Lee, Rasmussen, Hellsen and Harrison The footy shirts were used in the mid 70's.

What format was used to decide the winner?? Whoever had the most K's in their name?? This is Speedway, i wouldn't be at all surprised by any 'solution'.

You can't Rob. And personally i think i'll give up even trying to from now on.

Quality Mr Shovlar, you are full of em Calling the meeting off and re-scheduling tomorrow was the only sensible decision. These circumstances have occured before in major individual meetings. Certainly that's what happened in the '84 NLRC. Situations like this just sum up why Speedway is regarded as a Mickey Mouse game followed by anoraks and pikeys. Total farce and makes you wonder why you bother giving it the time of day!

Sounds like another classic Speedway farce is unfolding in Austria.

Rick Miller's pink ones were before Habbin's. They were a very girly powder pink....Nice!!

Don't think the following will be far away: Lindback Hampel Nicholls Richardson Kasprzak or Lindgren (depending if one is u21 champ) Zagar Andersen/Holta Frankly i'm amazed that people are touting Mark Loram for a place. British speedway would gain exactly zero from him being back in, and he'd struggle too as i also believe his best days are gone.

Is the Cradley picture an early shot of Bruce Penhall 1978?

I'll believe ya! Broadie rode for Hackney in 75 after his Stoke spell. Finished at Crayford and Newport in 76 and 77. Now, where's my anorak?
-
Is it Helge Langli v Wimbledon and Eddie Davidsson v Hackney??
-
Definitely Crash, World Champ round in 1974 - Leicester i think. Not sure on the Reading number 7 - face mask looks like John Davis, but i'm sure he wouldn't be at 7.

Trick To Sew It Up
frigbo replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not expecting to see his World Cup level of commitment and effort tomorrow night then SS?? -
You must have made the most of the 70p scoops, as you seem to have totally missed Lee's last to first in heat 6!!

Make The World Cup A True Team Event
frigbo replied to Bavarian's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Why have 3 different heat formulae? Wimbledon's track is too small and narrow for such meetings. The Yanks can barely muster a 5 man team, nevermind 7. This also creates a closed shop, just like the GP's. -
Make The World Cup A True Team Event
frigbo replied to Bavarian's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The problem with making it a team event is that apert from the top 5 nations the other sides will be even less competitive than they are now. I agree with you in principal, but it just wouldn't work in reality. Who's going to watch Poland spank Germany or Sweden v Hungary for example? I do agree that the tournament shouldn't be every year. Bi-annualy or even every four years would add much more prestige to the tournament, and even Tony Rickardsson might try in it then! -
I wonder if 'gating tart' Rico's last to first in heat 6 made it's way onto the tele's of Beowulf, Steve Brum, Lupus, Steve Hone, Shazzybird, Shooting Star et al???
-
TRick was a disgrace last night, it's not the first time he's shown his contempt for the World Cup, his team mates and country. I'm sure there won't be 3 last places flying about in the GP next week?...i'm so glad he doesn't ride for any team i support with his 70% and stuff you lot attitude!

Girls and sport..eh? Two posts of complete drivel....3rd place would not have been brilliant it's cr*p, we're not good enough. And as for the old "can you do better" chesnut
