Its the only leverage over Clarke Osbourne, can't give him permission for new houses until the new stadium is built or he will find an excuse not to build it.

noggin
There's no way I'll be paying a penny to Clarke the destroyer of speedway tracks, we knew this was happening from day one.

It’s always the same with tracks falling foul to property developments.

Something with response advice will be out this coming week apparently. The general public's reponse to the whole situation has been bizarre The Swindon Needs Speedway group had only a small turn-out when presenting their petition to Council last year (2,300 names but only about a dozen turned up at the Counci), a recent call for funding help saw only a few donate and now some are moaning about the line-up in the Oxford 4TT this week! Social media has over 2,000 followers, but it seems many want speedway back as long as they don't have to do anything themselves to make it happen!

I saw something on TwitterX from the save Swindon group with a link saying see our response to Studley Grange and The Abbey and a call to action, I followed the link, did as they suggested and register an account with Swindon Council so I could send my objections in only to find that the deadline for responses had passed sometime ago. I was in the process of copying the links to this topic for others to do the same. Without wishing to be disrespectful the save Swindon group seem to be a bit disorganised compared to other "Save" groups, Coventry being the gold standard. I'm sure they're doing their best but the lack of comments on this forum regarding Swindon tells it's own story really.

Closure date for online submissions was yesterday, not "some time ago" People can still submit comments via email. In truth, the Swindon and general speedway public response to variius things recently has been pretty likewarm. A call by the group for donations, the response to the Oxford 4TT and volime of response to the Abbey planning have all been disappointing. The "call to action" was only posted on TwitterX 6 days ago, doesn't give fans much time to act. I only actually saw it this morning and tried to notify others in here, only to realise it was too late. I'll send an email in now instead. I'm going to the 4TT tonight... The 'call to action' has also been across Facebook groups and in the local press to be fair to the group.

I applaud the efforts of the people behind Swindon Needs Speedway, and the obvious time and effort that has been put in. However, I believe they are missing out by not engaging directly with some of the more informed people on this forum instead of relying on a local campaign.
