It still shocks me that people expect or feel entitled to be given immediate information on such matters straight away. It should remain private and confidential as long as those in charge want it to be. When the time is right, you’ll get your answers. 
 

And to those that say “Well I am the paying public, they take my money so I have a right to know.” Well, if your local shop that is family owned suddenly closes for the day and puts up a sign saying ‘Closed temporarily due to unforeseen circumstances’, are you going to bang on the door or phone them up demanding to know why just because you spend money in there?! No, didn’t think so. 
 

This should be no different.

Speedway is not like track days where you can rock up on your ride bike, make a few adjustments and go on the track. How many people are going to spend thousands on a bike and van to do this? Not many is the answer.

There are opportunities as Dean has stated and they are struggling to get riders.

i expect also as most tracks are hired, the promoter probably has to sign up for a minimum number of meetings.

To me, we need to lower costs and for clubs to run on the best night for the fan base, I know this means losing top riders. This will not save the sport but hopefully keep it going for a few more seasons.

I don’t think it’s just speedway struggling, I feel the whole motorcycle sector is not very healthy atm.

My point really is that speedway promoters have to be free to make the product they think works for them, without being confined to delivering the product they have just now - because that is clearly not viable. It's not attractive to enough fans and the whole business model revolves around getting people through the gate.

If 'the right product' means league speedway then great, but if that means six meetings a year at holiday resorts, all-day training tracks, pop-up tracks to tie in with other events, quads, sidecars or vets.... then that is great too. Whatever it is, people need to be able to run more speedway in a way that it can be sustainable.

You don't like talking about money do you... if IoW were doing as well as they said they were a ferry price increase should have been coverable, I suspect it's more to do with crowd levels outside of the holiday season.

Believe whatever you like mate but the increase in ferry price is 3 times what it was last year, it’s the most expensive ferry crossing in the world per mile traveled, it is true they rely on holiday season but, they always have but this season 7 meetings was only decided on at a meeting on june 13th, if it went the other way, then a couple of the meetings were hopefully going to be at another track on the mainland, if it was as you think, they could of said in march /april we not running till July, these are the fixtures as the riders needed to know as early as possible

Born Chester, Cheshire, 8th April 1966

Top Grass-track exponent who was British 350cc champion before having initial shale outings at Stoke in 1986. Returned to the speedway circuits in 1993 at Wolverhampton where he held down a reserve berth for much of the season, and played a similar role when moving to Bradford last term. Made his Owlerton debut on August 18, 1994 when finishing runner-up (12 points) to Peter Scully in the Young Guns Individual meeting. Joined Sheffield on the eve of the season. Off-track he runs an office cleaning business in his home town.

I highly doubt he is the last rider. There are plenty of jobs that can be fitted in around speedway. Steve Worrall has his own business doing campervans, Richard Lawson was quoted in an interview about how he works as as plasterer. Simon Lambert has a timber yard. Ben Barker is a wagon driver.

Yes but if the issues,  whatever they are, have not be resolved, someone has to make a statement today to say what may or may not be happening.  I'm a comet's fan and hope they pull through this hiccup 

And the someone will have to be both bspa and comets management imo

And you think there's going to be another announcement? You've been in this game long enough to know how British Speedway works. I'll bet anyone on here good money that we won't hear a thing today - once again leaving fans in the dark.

Don't expect anything, I'm just surprised that the information wasn't released earlier, to possibly stop all the speculation.

Yeah, that is true. Communication with fans is pretty bad compared to other sports.
